6. The Little Battle

"Alexander Jansen, the head of the organization would like to see you."

Jansen stopped his movements while practicing resistance techniques. The direction of his gaze spontaneously shifted to a guard coming toward him.

Jansen turned his gaze to Matthew, who had been training with him. Matthew gave a nod of his head as if to let Jansen go. Although they both looked confused.

"What's the need?" asked Jansen, who walked up to the male guard.

"You can only know after dealing with Mr. Frank. Come on, follow me."

Jansen's brow furrowed even more after the guard man answered. He felt a little irritated because the guard man in front of him was not friendly at all.

Unable to resist, Jansen followed the guard. He had been thinking about Frank, who had become the leader of the organization.

Even during training, Jansen couldn't fully use his concentration. Part of his focus was on Frank. He remembered that before he almost died in the tunnel that night, Frank had been chasing him to get the virus research documents.

It wasn't long before Jansen arrived in front of a grand door. The door opened slowly to reveal a large room.

"Ah, Mr. Frank," said Jansen when he saw Frank sitting on the throne.

A few meters in a straight line from the door of the room, there was Frank along with two humans who seemed to be on guard. They had pale faces and looked at Jansen very sharply.

Jansen's steps finally arrived at the bottom of the steps of Frank's throne. While the guard man beside Jansen bowed, Jansen just looked at Frank expressionlessly.

"Mr. Frank, I've brought someone you'd like to meet," the guard said.

Frank gave the code for the guard to leave. After the man stepped away until he was out of the room, Frank stood up and went down the stairs.

"Alexander Jansen," Frank called, then stopped a few meters in front of Jansen.

Jansen still didn't move. He deliberately did not take his eyes off Frank. A lopsided smile appeared on his face.

"Why do I find you so familiar?" asked Frank, who was looking at Jansen intensely.

Jansen's eyebrows shot up. He refrained from bringing up the past between them.

"We've never met before, Mr. Frank," Jansen replied. "Or you met someone who looks like me."

Frank still wore an expression that suggested he was interested in Jansen. For a few seconds, he seemed to be searching for Jansen's lie. His eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"Ah, I did meet someone who looks a lot like you. Even his name," Frank replied.

"Did you call me into this room just to suspect me?" asked Jansen.

Frank stuffed both hands into his pants pockets while chuckling.

"Actually not suspicious, I've felt attracted to you since I saw you in the fighting ring," Frank said without hesitation.

Jansen had expected Frank to suspect him. Especially since he used his real name without a disguise.

"I feel very lucky that you noticed me, Mr. Frank. But if you're thinking of someone with evil plans, I'm not like that," Jansen said calmly.

Frank let out a long sigh as he put his hands on his waist.

"I'm not saying you're someone who plots evil, Jansen. Instead, you remind me of someone who makes me furious with him."

Jansen began to find an opening to pry more information out of Frank. He could clearly guess who Frank was referring to.

"Do you have someone you hate?" Jansen asked. "Ah, that someone must have made a big mistake."

"To be honest, he was a naive person who acted like he could save the world," Frank began to explain.

Jansen didn't answer. As he watched Frank walk around him, he tried to restrain himself. He had to control everything he wanted to say.

Also control his feelings of anger at Frank's betrayal. Or confirming to the point who killed him in the tunnel that night.

"I told him to cooperate nicely, but he refused. He thinks those useless parasitic monster creatures can be removed from this world," Frank said with a cynical laugh.

"You mean those parasitic monsters can't be exterminated?"

"Do you believe that nonsense?" Frank asked. "If they could be eradicated, the world wouldn't be in such a mess, right?"

Jansen didn't believe Frank's words. Before coming to the future, his research showed that every parasitic virus could be eradicated.

Starting from viruses that have just spread in the human body to viruses that have already multiplied into monsters. They have their own treatments.

One of the most important things is that viruses that have already entered the human body can be prevented from developing.

If Frank had managed to get his hands on the research documents, they should have understood that. But why did the organization seem to let parasitic viruses flourish?

"There is no virus that cannot be eradicated, Mr. Frank." Jansen deliberately provoked Frank a little.

Frank's steps behind Jansen stopped.

"What are you saying?" Frank asked. "You don't know anything."

"Just like an infected woman can stop acting aggressively when I close my eyes and tell the citizens to be quiet, the virus works like that."

Jansen turned around and looked at Frank through a calm gaze. A smile of formality curved up. Despite the fact that Jansen was already feeling the urge to confront Frank.

"They will be able to atrophy or regenerate inside the human body if we get in the way," Jansen continued calmly.

Frank immediately narrowed his eyes at Jansen. Suspicion was clear from the look in his eyes.

"What did you just say? How did you know about the virus?" Frank asked.

Jansen flinched, and that made Frank feel instantly threatened.

"Hey, who the hell are you?" Frank stepped closer to Jansen and grabbed him by the shoulders.

"Mr. Frank, you're not going to do violence to a training member, are you?" asked Jansen deliberately insinuating Frank.

"Oh, or are you used to doing this without anyone knowing?" Jansen continued his question while glancing at Frank's hand on his shoulder.

Frank grinned. "After what you've been saying since earlier, I feel more and more like you resemble someone from the past."

"You keep talking about it, Mr. Frank. Why are you likening me to him?" Jansen asked deliberately provoking Frank.

Frank stepped slowly closer to Jansen with a sharp look.

"He was so good at business that our business always made a huge profit. But he refused my offer," Frank said.

After saying that, Frank let out a rough breath.

"I was trying to expand our business to make it more profitable. He's really naive, just like what you said about the virus."

Jansen curved his smile wider.

"Maybe you're using something that shouldn't be traded, Mr. Frank. There's no way a good businessman like him would turn down a big profit unless there's something to lose," Jansen retorted.

Frank furrowed his brow and looked somewhat taken aback. Slowly his face showed Jansen concern.

"I've heard of someone trading viruses with no regard for humanity. Ah, if I become like someone you hate, I'd rather kill you," Jansen continued.

"I didn't do that," Frank said, but his expression implied a lie.

Jansen laughed briefly.

"I'm not saying that person is you, but the virus trade is very profitable indeed. By the way, where is the person you hate now?"

Frank exhaled a rough breath. "Maybe he's dead."

"You killed him?"

Frank's eyes bulged. But at that moment he looked panicked.

"Don't accuse me!"

"Ah, it wasn't you who killed him. But someone you hate used to be the leader of the organization. Why did you take his place?"

After hearing Jansen's question, Frank stiffened without being able to move.

Then Jansen approached Frank, and whispered, "Isn't it strange that you replaced the leader's position, when you weren't good colleagues?"

"You..." Frank hung on as his jaw hardened.

Frank growled, then he raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

Just as Jansen looked back, a long tentacled hand grabbed his neck. He glared in panic as he realized the guard-human beside Frank's throne was a half-human parasyte monster.

Jansen raised his head and looked at the guard-human's tentacle hand under his face. He didn't expect that there was a half-human parasitic monster.

"Why does your face look surprised?" Frank asked with a sardonic smile.

Jansen tried to take in oxygen. Several times he tried to remove the tentacle's hand from his neck.

"Tell me. Who are you?" Frank intimidated.

Jansen's eyes were closed. He was having trouble breathing.

"Are you..."

Jansen laughed. "Do... y-you think..."

[WARNING! YOUR HEALTH POINTS ARE THREATENED!]

[YOU HAVE 3 RECOVERY CHANCES. ONE CHANCE HAS ALREADY BEEN USED, DO YOU WANT TO USE THE REMAINING RECOVERY CHANCE?]

[SAY 'RECOVERY' IF YOU AGREE]

"Recovery," Jansen muttered very softly.

The longer Jansen's chest was very tight along with the lack of oxygen he could breathe.

Then he heard the system's voice.

[Jansen, you can use the 'Immune Shield' as I detect a virus starting to enter your body]

[Activate your 'Hand-Attack' skill. The more you use it, the more points you can increase your skill level!"]

Jansen actually didn't understand what this annoying system was saying. But he saw the system screen change to display many locked skills.

There were two skills that didn't have a lock symbol. The caption reads:

[Hand Attack/Lv.1 (Beginner)]

[Strong Kick Attack/Lv. 1 (Beginner)]

"Activate the Hand Strong Kick attack combo," muttered Jansen.

[REQUEST ACCEPTED!]

Not long after, Jansen felt a different sensation flow in his body. Like a foreign power that made him not limp.

Jansen immediately gripped the tentacle hand around his neck. With all his strength, each of his two hands twisted in a different direction.

Then when the tentacles' grip loosened, Jansen painstakingly kicked out while twisting his body. He did not let go of his twisting hands and deliberately pressed his legs to twist as well.

"GUARRRGGHHH!"

[WARNING! HEALTH POINT ATTACK REDUCED BY 50 POINTS!]

[CONGRATULATION, YOU RECEIVED 150 'HAND ATTACK' SKILL LEVEL POINTS!]

[CONGRATULATION, YOUR STRONG KICK ATTACK SKILL INCREASED BY 200 POINTS!]

"Feel it!" Jansen cursed at the half-human monster.
