Chapter 6

Gabriel Wilmer was slightly taken aback by the sudden question.

However, the disbelief at being figured out disappeared the very next second.

So when the guests glanced at him, they saw his signature frown on his face and shook their heads in disbelief.

A proud man like him would never stoop so low.

These brother of his would say anything now that he was driven into a corner.

“What is this punk talking about? Who in North City doesn’t know the Supreme Commander dines on the same table as Gabriel Wilmer and the four great families?”

“If he doesn’t have what to say, why does he keep talking!”

“Aren’t they more of them, Mr. Wilmer? Hurry up and call them so they can put this loser in his place!”

“Just because he’s putting on that uniform, he thinks he can look down on the rest of us.”

Seeing how valiantly they were all defending him, Gabriel flashed Wade a triumphant smile and casually slipped his hands into his pockets.

“These are just a few of the men the Supreme Commander lent to me the last time we dined together.”

“There are many more where they’re coming from and he’ll be more than happy to send a few more to help me take care of a runt like you.”

Wade found the situation amusing.

Not only was his elder brother claiming he was close with him, the Supreme Commander, but he also claimed they frequently dined together and he would even lend a few of his men to him.

As the said person in question, he had never done a thing like that.

So unless there was someone bold enough to fool people with his identity while he kept the country safe, Gabriel and the four great families were definitely fooling the public.

“You’re close to the Supreme Commander? Isn’t it rumored only a select few has seen what he looks like?”

“He’s always in Virelia with his men and has never spared time to dine with anyone. So how could it be you dine with him frequently. One would think you’re making this up.”

Gabriel didn’t panic and merely chuckled.

“Unlike you, I have a reputation to live up to and people kill to have a meal with you. It shouldn’t surprise you that the Supreme Commander is one of those people.”

Wade chuckled as well and smiled coldly.

“That is laughable. I don’t remember ever having dinner with you. Using the Supreme Commander’s name to lie, do you think I’ll take it lightly with you because you’re my brother?”

Gabriel immediately laughed out like he had just heard a big joke.

“What nonsense are you spouting? Why would I eat with someone like you? Even when you lived with the rest of the Wilmer family, you never ate with the rest of the family. It was always with the staffs.”

“Does that uniform you’re putting on and those muscles you now have suddenly make you think you have the right to eat with a distinguished man like me?”

Wade quietly recalled everything when this happened in the past.

Back then, Gabriel made him believe eating with the staffs and working harder than them was the right way to become humble.

He had Wade running around the house every minute of the day doing one thing or the other for so many years.

Now that he thought of it, he deserved everything he got. Gabriel’s intent was so obvious, but he had so much trust in him that he didn’t doubt his intention for a second.

Not even when he heard the rest of the family saying it was Gabriel’s way of making sure his little brother would be too occupied to worry about competing with him as heir.

“That settles it then.” Wade hummed dismissively and walked past the military men on the floor as he continued strutting to the door.

But Gabriel suddenly blocked his path and snickered.

“When did I say you could leave? Have you suddenly forgotten you have the last name Wilmer and the person standing in front of you is the head of the Wilmer family?”

Jordan took a step towards him, but Wade glanced at him to stop him from taking another step.

Then he turned his attention back to Gabriel.

“Being sent off to the military and being cut off entirely from the world for seven years are enough to tell me I’m no longer welcomed as part of the Wilmer family.”

“For the sake of blood, I will leave here today without harming a single strand of hair on your head.”

“However, if you try to stop me, Jordan here will make sure you never stand upright again for the rest of your life.”

Hearing his threat, Gabriel immediately felt provoked.

Almost immediately, the guests murmured incoherently amongst themselves.

He didn’t need to listen to know what they were talking about. Hence, he felt even more provoked and began taking off his suit jacket.

He handed it to Julian Powell and sneered arrogantly.

“You seem to have forgotten soenthing, little brother. I may not have spent seven years in the army, but I could withstand hours of harsh training from top ranking people in the military ever since we were young.”

“What do you think your seven years of being in the military can do against the two decades I’ve been trained by top ranking people in the military?”
