Lisa was rooted to the spot, her eyes fixed on the screen. Her heart wouldn't stop pounding, and she didn't know what to do.

"Aren't you going to pick the call honey?" Tom asked. He looked at Lisa, concerned.

Lisa tried to play it cool, even though her heart was racing. She didn't want Tom to suspect anything. "It's nothing. I'm not going to answer the call. I'll just talk to Cecilia in the morning," she said smiling, before hugging Tom. "Let's just go to bed okay. I'm sleepy."

Tom raised an eyebrow, not fully convinced. Wasn't she the same person arguing about the call a few minutes ago? She was the same person who said her friend was having troubles and really needed someone to talk to. So why was she ignoring her call now?

Tom however didn't want to ask Lisa any more questions... he wasn't ready to push the issue. They had argued enough, and he didn't want to start another fight. As he hugged his wife back, his mind couldn't stop racing with thoughts.

Tom finally decided to confront his guest, Felix, and made his way downstairs, still in his nightgown. As Tom approached where Felix sat, he stood up from the couch and bowed deeply to Tom. "Good day, General Sullivan," Felix said as he bowed, leaving Tom utterly shocked. "What the heck just happened?" Tom thought to himself, stunned. Felix had just bowed to him, acknowledging his position in the army. Was this some kind of joke? Tom's mind was racing with questions. What were Felix's intentions? Because Tom knew very well that his cousin would never bow to him. He knew Felix hated him so much that he would be happy if he was even shot dead at that very moment. "What's behind this sudden change of heart, Felix?" Tom asked. His skepticism was evident. "You've been against me from the start, and now you're bowing to me? What's going on?" Felix paused, collecting his thoughts before speaking. "I've had a change of heart, Tom. I realize now that you're the rightful ruler. You're the

Lucas came downstairs, intending to serve himself a glass of wine. But his eyes widened in shock when he saw Phillip Constantine, sitting comfortably on the sofa in his living room. "What the...?!" Lucas exclaimed. He was stunned. "What are you doing here in my place... and how the heck did you even get here?!" Phillip looked up, and took a quick sip from the glass of wine in his hand, smiling. "Oh... I think I should have knocked. But I needed a place to stay, so I told your security I was your guest." Lucas's anger flared up. "Those bunch of idiots! Why did they just let you in without informing me?!" "Hey buddy, calm down. Okay? I just needed a place to stay, so I thought it wise to come here since we're now partners with a common goal. Where I was hiding isn't too comfortable... that's why I'm here, Lucas," Phillip said. Lucas frowned. "That doesn't explain why you think you can just barge into my home. It f*ucking doesn't explain why the heck you're here!" "Home yo

"Let's have sex," she said matter-of-factly. Lisa stood at the foot of the bed, her hands steady as she let the nightgown fall to the floor until it settled on her feet. The man sitting on the bed barely moved, his eyes unfocused ahead, his body stiff. He didn't glance at her, just sat there, numb, unseen, as if he hadn't even heard her. Lisa drew closer, scrambling onto the bed until her bare skin grazed against his. She settled onto his lap, legs around him. He tensed up; his breathing came shallow, and his eyes darted in quick jitters from her face to the floor. "What-what are you doing?" he stuttered, his hands hovering without surety over her skin for some sort of placement. His face turned beet red, and his voice came out no louder than a whisper. She leaned in, her eyes fixed on his, and told him, "I need you to be a man." He swallowed hard and tried to say just what he needed to. "L-Lisa, I. I don't think this is a good idea," he said awkwardly, his eyes darting around

"Prepare everything for my arrival," Tom said, his voice cold and commanding. The voice at the other end of the line was steady, from Joshua, showing much respect to Tom in silence. "How's everything back home?" Tom asked, pacing the room now. "It's not good, sir" Joshua admitted. "The family's been in chaos since your disappearance. Everyone's fighting to take control, but Gabriel… he's been getting a lot of support." The bitter bile rose in his throat as Tom's jaw clamped down hard. Gabriel, his supposedly trusted brotherly friend, leading the pack to steal his rightful place. That betrayal had rankled deep, though not nearly so much as the outrage of him poisoning Tom's food. His voice barely above a whisper: "Gabriel. that sly rat." Joshua's voice cut in, almost as if sensing Tom’s thoughts. "He’s convinced some of the elders that he’s the rightful leader, but the rest are divided. They’re just waiting for someone strong enough to unite them." Tom clenched his fists. "They’

Tom did not bat an eyelid as he regarded the mocking faces surrounding him. Sharper eyes told of a man that was different from the one they had all belittled. Delilah snorted, looking at him with a smirk. "So you remember who you are but what good is it when you still are a poor man? You don't belong here Tom, not with such a pathetic Level. Tom exhaled and let her words bounce right off him as if it would take a lot to ruffle his feathers. He turned away from Delilah and toward Lisa's grandfather with a respectful tone. "Happy birthday, sir," he said, clear, strong, controlled, silencing the murmurs around them. Delilah's face scrunched in frustration; he wouldn't take her insults and dish them back. The silence had dragged out, and Lisa's grandfather-who was watching the scene before him with narrow eyes-finally raised his hand. "Enough," he said outright-the tone silencing the room. "Everybody, be seated. I have something to say." The guests scurried for their places, leavi

A hooting sound echoed from the rear loud enough to be audible. "She must be nuts. Messing with Bigsharks? Death wish if there ever was one." Still, another murmured in dismay, shaking his head: "Only an idiot would tackle them. Setting herself up to fail." Lisa's mother stood forward, marked with anxious lines and resentment. "Lisa, this is insane!" she admonished. "You think you can just walk in and ask those people for money? You're going to get yourself killed. And you're listening to him"-she sent Tom a withering look-"your poor, clueless husband, egging you into this mess." Lisa felt doubt clawing at her as she suddenly wondered what she was really doing. They were right-it was insane. Her mother rolled her eyes. "I regret ever giving birth to you, Lisa," she spat, cold. Then she turned sharply on her heel, storming out of the room. Delilah watched, trying and failing to conceal a smirk. Delilah's luck simply could not get any better than this. Their grandfather had just s

The doorbell echoed through the Winchester mansion. Lisa’s mother went to open it, her heart pounding. As she pulled the door open, her heart nearly stopped. Standing there, in a silent but intimidating formation, was the Bigshark gang. “Oh no… this is trouble,” she whispered, her voice shaking. Everyone in the mansion froze, staring at the gang in fear. Faces paled, breaths held. Lisa’s mother stepped back, almost stumbling. “What have they gotten themselves into?” she muttered, watching the gang part to let someone through. As the group stepped aside, they revealed Tom and Lisa, both looking calm, with Delilah trailing behind, her head bowed, expression strained. It was something no one could’ve predicted. Lisa’s grandfather’s eyes narrowed as Lisa and Tom strode into the room. Delilah stayed back. Lisa motioned to the heavy suitcases the Bigsharks were carrying and had them set down in front of her grandfather. “Here’s the money,” she announced, her voice steady. “They eve

Lisa took a step back. “No. I won’t divorce him. And if anyone mentions it again, I’ll leave this house right now.” Her voice was final. The room fell silent. Everyone could see she meant every word, and no one dared to push her further. Lucas cleared his throat, putting on a smile. “Alright, Lisa. I promise no one will bring it up again.” He held up his hands, looking around as if to assure everyone. “But… even if you don’t like the idea, how about a little drive with me? Just a short one.” His voice was casual, but the look in his eyes suggested there was more to it. Lisa hesitated, sensing his intent. But before she could answer, the door swung open, and in walked Debby, her longtime friend, looking flustered. She spotted Lucas instantly and rushed over, flashing him a bright smile. “Oh, Lucas! I didn’t know you’d be here!” she exclaimed, practically ignoring everyone else in the room. Tom stepped forward and gave her a polite nod. “Hey, Debby.” But Debby barely loo

  • Chapter 018

Tom's eyes snapped open, and he was met with an unfamiliar chill in the air. After rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he realized the window was open, and the wind was blowing in, causing the curtains to billow inward. With his eyes still heavy from sleep, Tom managed to go close the window and was about to drift off again when he noticed something was off: His wife wasn't in the bed. Where could she be? Tom wondered. "Lisa? Lisa?" Tom called out twice, but there was no response. He threw off the covers and got out of bed. He checked the entire room, but Lisa was nowhere to be found. Where is she? Tom kept wondering. It was then that a faint murmur caught his attention. He followed the sound and realized it was coming from the bathroom. Tom headed towards the bathroom door and reached out for the doorknob. He slowly turned it, and the door creaked open, revealing Lisa standing with her back to him. Her phone was pressed to her ear, and she spoke in hushed tones, oblivious to Tom

Felix raised an eyebrow as Phillip sat across from them at the table, a look of uncertainty shone on his face. "Why should we trust you, Mr. Constantine?" Felix asked bluntly. "Who knows, you could be working for Tom or be an undercover cop." Phillip chuckled. "Haha... I assure you. I'm neither. I just want to help you take down Tom Sullivan." "Why would you want to help us? I'm finding it difficult to trust you. I mean, you appear from nowhere and offer to help us get rid of Tom. How did you know we had that in mind?" Lucas snorted. Phillip leaned in, his eyes locked on theirs. "Let's just say I have my reasons. But for now, I'll let you decide. You can keep waiting for an opportunity against Tom, which might never happen, looking at how powerful he is, or you can accept my offer. The ball is in your court.." "Hmm... what's in it for you?" Felix's expression softened slightly. "Nothing. Just the satisfaction of seeing Tom fall. I want him to be miserable again. But this ti

  • Chapter 016

(The Sullivan Mansion) Two days had passed since Lisa had returned. Tom had explained his past life to her, and they had moved into his grand mansion. Despite the luxurious surroundings and comfortable way of living, Lisa's mind still reeled with doubts. She now saw Tom as a monster who was just lying to her, and that he had given her a twisted story about his past life. Lisa stood in front of the bathroom mirror, washing her face in the middle of the night. Her eyes stared back at her. And they were filled with disappointment and disgust. "No... I just can't believe Tom could be this wicked... he's a monster." She was finding it difficult to accept the fact that Tom had taken away innocent lives, and even had a hand in Phillip's supposed death. How could he do such a thing? His past life was nothing but evil. She thought about the way Tom had explained his past, about how he became a five-star General, about his family, and how he lost his memory after being poisoned by his

Upon seeing his wife, Tom dropped his phone and rushed towards her. Lisa looked troubled, and that bothered Tom. "Honey, are you okay?" he asked, helping her sit down. He sat beside her and gently tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear. "Lisa, I was so worried about you... I know who did this to you, he's going to pay dearly," Tom said, concern etched on his face. Tom couldn't help but notice the tension in his wife's face. She seemed so rigid, and tight with anxiety. Lisa didn't reply. Tears had gathered in her now red and puffy eyes, and she just looked away, struggling to hold them back. "Lisa, please say something to me," Tom pleaded, his voice filled with desperation. "What happened? What did that jerk do to you? Did he hurt you? Just tell me?" "No," Lisa finally whispered, her voice barely audible. "But you don't look fine to me. I think we should go to the hospital, just to make sure you're okay," Tom said, seeing the current state of Lisa. "Don't bothe

A white limo waited for Tom outside the hospital. As he settled into the plush leather seat, his mind reeled from the recent events that had been unfolding in his life. The doctor's words were still fresh in his mind.... Who was this woman that came for Lisa and how did she pull everything off so easily? He really needed answers. "Take me to my house," Tom instructed the driver, his voice low and urgent. "Which of your mansions, General?" the driver asked. "I mean, take me to my old house... where my wife and I lived," Tom replied. He thought perhaps he'd find Lisa at their old house, the place where they had shared so many memories together. It was the only place that made sense, considering he hadn't moved into any of his mansions with her after her injury. Tom's heart ached with longing as he wondered if she might be waiting for him there. The driver nodded and pulled away, navigating through the evening traffic with ease. Tom sat back, slowing sipping a glass of mar

The police had been able to restore calm. Lovely chatter and melodious rhythms filled the banquet hall again, the guests now calm and enjoying themselves. Tom walked confidently onto the stage and began to speak, his presence commanding attention. "Hello, honourable ladies and gentlemen. I apologise for the earlier interruption. Please, don't worry - security has been tightened, and we're all safe now. Let's put that behind us and enjoy the rest of this wonderful occasion." The guests erupted into applause as soon as Tom finished speaking. "Who even dares harm the almighty Tom Sullivan?" a voice came from the crowd. Just then, His Excellency Mark Bruce, the governor of the state rose from his seat and raised his glass. "To the illustrious five-star general Tom Sullivan," the governor declared, a broad smile spread across his face. His voice continued to boom across the hall. "A great hero who has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with... Long live Tom Sullivan!"
