Chapter 144

The evening dust laid on his nose, he sneezed.

To no man does the earth mean so much to as soldiers. When he pressed down himself in her long and powerful. When he bruised his face and limbs deep in her for the fear of shell-fire, then she was his mother, friend, lover, siblings and home.

Covered in mud and dirt, he could hardly be recognized. All his ears heard was the loud order from the commanders and general on fields.

He couldn’t see anything. It was rubble and dusty, lying on the cold hard dirt. Cuts and bruises all over his body, and all he was thinking was if he was going to die. Earlier that day, he had killed one of the main leaders of the enemy, and had been promoted to colonel.

And now, he was lying on the battlefield, cold and lifeless. He underwent harsh training which had taken a toll on his body. He crawled through dirt, mud, and sand. He had bruises from where the general had hit him in combat training, in all, this would be his last.

All his ears detected were foots
