Chapter ninety six

Sandra approached the chief police officer, her determination evident in her voice. "Can I see Marcus now?" she asked, but the chief shook his head firmly.

“Only with your lawyer present," he replied.

Sandra let out a frustrated sigh, her eyes scanning the room before fixing back on the chief.

"I really don't have much time to waste, please," she begged, her hands clasped together in a pleading gesture. "I just want to ask him a few questions, please."

The chief nodded sympathetically, standing up from his chair. "Follow me," he said, leading Sandra through the station.

She nodded, whispering a quiet "thank you" as she walked beside him, her eyes fixed on the door ahead, eager to finally see Marcus and get some answers.

"Ten minutes," the chief police officer said, granting Sandra access. She nodded, and he attempted to maintain a professional demeanor, pacing back and forth, aware that his staff was watching.
