When Trina was reading the dagger's attribute, her eyes went blank, she looked like she is unconscious. Liu who have been calling her slapped her into consciousness, Trina have finished reading all the messages though

" what's wrong with you?" 

"uhm, I was...I was trying to remember the way you cut the dragon earlier, you know I am wondering if this dagger cat do the same"

"it can't, but it can stop and slow down a dragon"s  fire. If you want to kill a dragon, take sword and the shield, I will teach when we get home"

" home like your house?" 

" if you are bent on going to your cousin's, you can find the address yourself, just drop my dagger and the sword, you can go your way" 

"of course I'll go with you, I hope my cousin is safe" 

"the probability is low, those dragons and devils already destroyed 60 percent of the Song City ai there's just this village left" 

Trina put on a sad face to convince Liu that she is really here for her cousin

"am not that cruel actually, even if you are fully armed and go in search of your cousin, you'll still die" 

" I understand you" 

" well I am the only child of my father and I am most time alone, I need a company especially when I am night guarding" 

"night guarding?" 

"Actually, after magic was used to fight off the dragons,  they fled and set up a base to the north, bloking the road that leads from Song village to Song City, the village had to manage the South and set up a magic gate. Although it's magic, the dragons do try to break free and enter sometimes, that's why magicians night guard so in case a dragon enters, it will be killed immediately"

"those dragons are really mysterious"

" if what you saw is what you call mysterious, then a big surprise await you" L

"tell me"

"the dragon I killed and the ones pursuing us earlier are dragon warriors, they can understand signs only, the big one you saw is a dragon general, it must have few dragons under its command. Dragon generals can hear but they cannot speak, they can only give sounds. There is also a dragon Lord, these ones  are stronger than dragon generals, they can speak and hear. After them is the dragon king, they are not very big but they have hard skins and very hot fire, all this magics of mine can't stop them. I am suspected there will be a stronger one that controls the dragon kings since there are around 5 dragon kings"

"you are scaring me Liu" I said

"oh, am sorry, don't worry except the dragon generals, others don't come out much, I wonder what they are doing in the north" Liu said

"probably getting stronger" 

" take the sword, I'll help you with the shield, lets go to the gate, we had enough of dragons tonight" Liu said

As Trina pick up the sword, another message popped up in her face although this time she didn't get distracted

[Remark: It used to be Chen's magic sword but since Chen died, the magic went away. It's tottai useless agains dragons]

"I really wish I can learn magic" 

" that's not hard, father can teach you if you be a good girl and show her you are worth his lessons" 

" how can I impress him?"

" hurt a dragon, night guard alone for a week without a dragon entering the village, all sort if difficulty things he can ask you to do" 

The two of them walked to the village gate, not a modern gate but some king of olden barrier with magic to make it stronger. They entered the village and stay at the gate guarding it, till morning, no dragon went to the gate so they have a peaceful night guard.

Morning in the village the duos were set to go to Liu's house

"Night guarding is that easy, except the sleeping part" 

"the guy that died, uhm... are you...?" Trina wanted to ask a question but got interrupted

"oh yes Chen, I almost forgot, we should head to the village king"

"king???"

"yeah, Song used to be a city before the devil tribulation, you don't have to worry about Chen, it's normal for a night guard to die, the village will honor him" Liu replied

"I know, but aren't we supposed to take his corpse and..." Trina was interrupted again

"no, no, no, we don't do that. Those dragons, whenever they eat someone to death will in put some kind of poison so much that whenever the body starts to decay, the poison will spread in the air and affect anyone that sniff in the air so we do burn our dead bodies"

"oh, you know it's the custom of some people, diseased or not"

"can't wait to get home, let's go to the palace" 

Song Castle 

Liu and Trina entered the palace, they were allowed to enter the royal court without any question since Liu's dressing depicts his identity as a night guard. Entering the palace court they paid homage to the king

"I greet your majesty" Liu greeted bowing down and Sean did the same. 

"it is rare for s night guard to visit the palace early in the morning, what's the problem?" the king asked knowing something must have happened that made the night guard come to the palace

"my Lord, your subject and my assistant, Chen, while night guarding last night, we were attacked by a dragon and he got killed while I killed the dragon. This man here is a Traveller that escaped the dragon's sight by luck, she guarded the village with me last night. Although she have no magic prowress, she wish to learn and be an official night guard, she is going to learn from my father, we seek your majesty's consent"

" As for Chen, I'll arrange people to burn his corpse and inform his people, you don't have to worry about that. If your father accepts her as his disciple, she can come back to take the night guard official batch and join the guardianship. The village appreciates your effort in protecting them" The King assured and appreciated

" do not mention your majesty, your subject recognize his duty as protecting the people of Song with my life, I'll will not slack in my duty". 

"you can go" 

Liu and Sean went out if the palace for Liu's house. 

"It's all that easy" Liu said breathing heavily

"there is nothing intimidating about him, his an humble king even, I like him"

*you mean the dragon tribulation humbled him, the kingdom is no more protected by him" 

"do you think your dad will accept me easily?" 

"since his majesty is indifferent about you being a guard, my dad might not take much time in deciding" 

Liu's house

"looks like you did an overtime today" Liu's dad queried him

"Chen died" Liu replied. 

His father did not say anything but stared at him for a long time that even Trina feel awkward 

" don't blame me dad, it was his carelessness, he..."Liu was trying to explain but got interrupted

"I didn't ask you anything, who is she?" Liu's father asked

" uhm, she is..."Liu trying to tell about Trina to his father but got interrupted again

" I am Queen Trin, here to visit my cousin but to my surprise there is this tribulation that took over the city. Liu volunteered to shelter me" 

Liu's father stared at Liu again

" that's because she wishes to be your disciple" out of fear Liu back up Trina "his majesty accepts him to join the guardianship if you'll teach him"

His father's gaze never left him but after some time he smiled "I know you need a company, I won't stop you, as for you young lady, you can be my disciple if you learn fast. The slower you get, the lower the chance of you being my disciple. Welcome to our house" 

"Thanks father, we will be in my room" Liu said and went out of his father sight, Sean followed after thanking Liu's father

"your father is the definition of authority"

" you think so, dad is just always stern, he's become more simple since mum died" 

"dragon tribulation?" 

"yeah, the tribulation have took many lives, my is just a minor" 

"I'm sorry but I wonder why those dragons are holding back since you said they have stronger warriors to fight for them"

"probably because we also have stronger people to fight for us or the devils haven't tell them to do so" 

"oh, I almost forgot that. so what next"

"night guardians sleep in the morning" 

" wait, who guard the village in the day?"

"we also have watchers, there is a big tower is the village, the dragons can be watched from afar. If any dragon is coming they can take care of it unless less it's an army."

"the village have great intelligence, I'm sure the dragon tribulation must have been immediate, you people don't have time to react so there are many casualties" 

"hmm, not that, the king doesn't believe in magicians at first but when his son and his army died, he have no choice"
