Tyler felt a wave of relief wash over him as he realized that his mother's intentions were not what he had feared. He chuckled nervously, feeling somewhat embarrassed by his overactive imagination.

"Sorry, Mom," he said sheepishly, "I guess I let my mind wander into some dark territory."

His mother's stern expression softened, and she gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "It's okay, dear," she replied with a gentle smile. "I know you're going through a lot right now. It's natural for your mind to play tricks on you."

Tyler nodded, grateful for his mother's understanding. He knew that their conversation would still be a difficult one, but at least he could put one fear to rest.
