CHAPTER 22

The fragments were emitting a bright and shining light, like lanterns in the night. Elliott walked over and casually picked up a piece of jade fragment, asking, "Dad, where did you get this from?"

"I borrowed it from a friend who owns a store in the antique market in the south of the city. We have a good relationship, and I just wanted to play around with it," replied his father. "You borrowed it just to break it? And you said it was worth tens of thousands of dollars?!"

Aria was furious. Elliott played with the fragment for a moment before saying in a deep voice, "Dad, this jade is fake."

"What?! How is that possible?!" exclaimed his father. "The owner of the store said it was a new arrival, just unearthed," Elliott explained. "How could it be fake? And how would you know anything about jade?" his father asked skeptically.
