The Avenger Of Giza CHAPTER 19
In the king's dining chamber, Tydeus and his comrades came in with the king, his palace guards and other chiefs of the land. They all sat on a big rectangular dining table with decorated chairs on each length. The table was filled with plates of different kinds of food and wines served by the king's palace chefs.King Nezeron decided to go straight to the point as Tydeus had suggested, and while eating and dining at the table, he began to narrate why exactly he had invited Tydeus and his companions to the palace.“When the Pharaohs of yesteryear built this nation, it was intended as one of the greatest Empires of all time…”“Egypt has been the richest and the greatest Citadel that has ever existed on the face of the earth…”“This nation has been a stronghold not only for the people but for other neighbouring countries. Our great government gave rise to many other existing nations on the face of the earth…”“But now Egypt is divided. The war has not only claimed lives but claimed our

Tydeus alone and the sorceress got up from their seat to follow King Nezeron to what he wanted to show Tydeus. The king brought Tydeus to the roof floor of his castle, where they could see every part of the city beneath them.“Look, Tydeus, see all that is left of Giza. Every week more refugees who have lost hold of their lands run to me seeking for protection…”“Most of them covered in blood, crippled or burnt by the Cytorex. All hope was lost; Giza could also end up like other destroyed cities if the Cytorex struck just one more time…”“Not until we heard of a great warrior who is called the great warrior of Egypt. The only one who in his great powers killed Apophis, the great beast of the dark world with his bare hands…”“I had no other option but to send my sorceress to find you wherever you might be. And now that you have arrived…”“Giza is sure to have a chance of victory against the Cytorex”, King Nezeron said with a heart filled with hope to Tydeus.“I am just a hitman doing h

“Nothing exactly, bro. I'm just trying to set the records straight so we get our job here done and we get paid appropriately”, Tydeus responded with a smile.“Yeah, that's exactly the reason why we're waiting for you in the dining room. We are about to determine our price before we tell the king, and you're out here alone with the sorceress?” Rakeh immediately questioned Tydeus again, realizing the sorceress's reaction earlier.“Nope, not what you're thinking brother. Let's just go back to meet the others”, Tydeus replied to Rakeh as he quickly wrapped his arm around Rakeh's shoulder, preventing him from asking any more questions.Getting into the dining chamber, they met only Sakoh and Artecus, who were also waiting for Tydeus.“We thought both of you went on to have a private discussion without us”, Sakoh said out loud as he saw Tydeus and Rakeh coming.“Pss! I went to get your guy from the roof floor, I don't know what he was still doing there all alone”, Rakeh responded to Sakoh,

“My king, the Cytorex will attack Giza unexpectedly. Now that they have the young prince and we know their location, we only have this last chance to make this right once and for all”, Captain Kethrax informed the king again.“If the Cytorex struck Giza one more time, we would lose everything. We will attack them now with everything we have, and we must do that as fast as possible”, King Nezeron gave his decision.Tydeus became a little displeased with the king's decision. The mission needs proper planning but the king seems to be ignoring that.“Tydeus, you're a gift from the gods, and if the gods have given us a gift, we must not squander it”, King Nezeron said as he turned to Tydeus once again.“Are the gods going to be fighting with us?” Tydeus asked King Nezeron quickly.“No, but the great warrior of Egypt, will”, King Nezeron replied Tydeus.“If you're trying to rush us into this mission, You're only going to make it more cumbersome for us to handle. And that is going to cost yo

“En sabar nur, En sabar nur, Yak rasin, Yak tamanIdi na kowa, Idi na kowaNetjeru ta en kemetShed en ten …”Isis, the sorceress, continued chanting in the shrine, a small room in the palace, as the king, the general and all the subordinates, including Tydeus and his men, all bowed their heads to the ground behind the sorceress and her maids. The brightness of the early morning sun filled up the room, the perfect atmosphere to worship the gods. Isis, with two of her maiden sorceresses, continued chanting to summon the gods to show them the outcome of the war they were about to go into. The worship had already lasted about thirty minutes. Tydeus, where he was bowing his head, looked up to see what was taking so much time. Haven't the gods spoken to the sorceress yet?He looked around and saw his companions bowing their heads, the king and all his subordinates also,“Aren't they tired already? When are they going to round up the worship?” Tydeus asked in his mind.He got up agitatedly

“Have no fear, if you fall in the service of a just cause…”“Your souls will go to Abyss!...”“Where they will dwell forever amongst the shades of heroes like Ramesses or Seti or even Amenhotep”“When you see the enemy, only one thing should come to your mind, you either kill them or they kill you…”“And if you're too slow, it won't be long before the enemy sends you to hell…”“The Cytorex have no pity, they have no mercy. If they come any close to you, do not also show them mercy…”“Or else your souls will vanish into the unfathomed depths”“Is that clear?!”“Sir! Yes Sir!!” The army of Giza arranged in their great numbers, all responded to their General's call.“Or else your souls will vanish into the unfathomed depths? Pss! What kind of a pep talk is that?”, Rakeh asked his companions silently with a squeezed face. King Nezeron and his sorceress, with all the king's guards, including Tydeus and his friends, stood behind General Gyeron as he spoke to all the armies of Giza, trying

The journey to the Valley Of Bones continued after many hours of travel,The soldiers kept on marching relentlessly across mountains, across rivers, across great hills and even across thick forests as their subjects rode on their horses and chariots leading the way.The sun had begun to disappear as the night came closer; in a few more hours, they would arrive at the Valley Of Bones. They continued to travel on a plateau that connected to the Valley ahead. The ground looks very deserted, with no sign of life on the plateau. There were no animals, no plants, only bones and rotten dead creatures on the ground. It is as if the place has been cursed or something.Gradually, the moon began to appear, and the captains of the soldiers immediately ordered the armies to light up their lanterns and mount them on their spears as they continued marching closer to the Valley.Tydeus kept looking around the deserted area. He quickly used his hands to cover his nose to shield his nostrils from the p

“The great Apophis that we all know is a gigantic dragon which only dwells deep in the forest of shadows”,“The legends even say that the great god of light, Ra, battled with Apophis for many years and couldn't get rid of it. If Apophis couldn't be killed by a god…”“How did ordinary mortals like you, Tydeus and Sakoh manage to kill such a powerful beast?” Artecus asked Rakeh fastidiously.Rakeh grinned towards Artecus with a weird smile as he continued riding his horse gently.“You want to know that huh?” Rakeh asked Artecus“I would love you to tell me”, Artecus replied to Rakeh with curiosity written all over his face.“This is something I will never tell anyone, but because Tydeus has made you one of us now, I think you should know”, Rakeh replied with a smile“Thanks, so how did it happen?” Artecus asked inquisitively again.“Hmm, have you ever heard of anything called the Stone-bane?” Rakeh asked Artecus.Artecus bowed his head, thinking vigorously; it seemed like something he h

They kept navigating their way in the renowned cave of the dead till they got to a narrow corridor, a creepy long passage, dark and appalling. Apphathorus quickly gripped the lamp he had in his hands tightly and swallowed hard.“This place looks scary, are we really going into this corridor?” Apphathorus asked“Everywhere in this cave is scary, there's no need to be dramatic. We must get the stones. So what did the map indicate? We are going through this corridor right?” Tydeus asked“Yes” Apphathorus replied “Fine. Just make sure you're very careful and you stay behind me”, Tydeus, whilst still holding his bleeding stomach warned Apphathorus, making his way into the corridor by leaping on his broken kneeApphathorus began walking behind him as they advanced further into the corridor. As Apphathorus walked, his legs were shaking terribly each step wishing he hadn't come into the Forest in the first place. With the lamp in his hands, he continued to turn his back often after each step

The giant turned to Apphathorus again but could not see anything. Has he run away? It steered its body in different directions looking for the little human who just woke it up after sleeping for thousands of years. While the mummy turned back, Apphathorus furtively held his bag and began to make his way out of the cave. This was only their first encounter, and it was already looking like it would be the end of their adventure.Only one step was remaining for him to make it out of the cave from the big hole, but he noticed he wasn't moving forward again, it was as if an external force was taking him back. He turned his back in terror and saw the giant pulling him back into the cave. They had come to its playground, and it seemed the giant mummy wasn't done playing yet. The giant mummy gripped Apphathorus tightly with its wide, bony palm and brought it closer to its mouth, but just before he could swallow Apphathorus, who was already screaming beyond his voice, Tydeus emerged out of n

“Watch your steps, old man; this place doesn't look like the playground you called it”, Tydeus said, breaking the ominous silence in the cave, and his voice echoed.“Oh my gosh! I'm creeping out right now. I feel like vomiting”, Apphathorus replied fearfully“Oh well, you can do that after we make it outside. As you can see this place is really dark and eerie. We are left to find the stones now”, Tydeus said, taking a closer look at the materials on the floor; they looked like dry bones of humans or perhaps animals. “Where could they be now?”“You have the map with you isn't it?” Tydeus cut in“Yeah?”“Then make use of it; where are we supposed to get the stones before something comes at us?” Tydeus asked Apphathorus sharply. “Uhm, This is what it says. We are supposed to…”“Hey watch it! Don't touch anything. Be careful!” Tydeus quickly informed as he saw Apphathorus almost resting on some of the creepy materials near the wall.“Oh, don't worry about me being careful; I mean, I was

The rain had started to drizzle and the breeze blowing ominously, the trees had started to dance like horrible masquerades making the entire atmosphere in the jungle tense and creepy, but it seemed these two risk-takers were already getting used to the nature around these paths but they might just be making their way to the most dreadful part of all. Apphathorus and Tydeus, whilst still leaping with his stick, arrived at a wide spot under a big tree in the forest after a long walk, both of them started to gaze at the surroundings, trying to observe where they had gotten to. “Are we lost? Tydeus asked his voice sharp.“I think that's not the right word to use because we have been lost since we made our way into this jungle. But talking about ‘misplaced’, I think we…” Apphathorus was saying as he took another look at his map to study it again. “Oh no! Now we have to go back, we have been walking in the wrong route!” He said with a tone of disappointment.“Really? Let me see that” Ty
CHAPTER 89
Apphathorus's heart had started to drum in his chest, cold sweat trickling down his old, weak face as he awaited what would come out of the bush in the fog. But from afar, he saw something different; he was expecting to see the form of a monster or another hideous beast. Instead, he saw the form of a human, or maybe it was a monkey. He squinted his eyes to see who or what was coming behind the fog, every movement of his eyes begging it to be a human. He continued to focus his sight on the apparition in his front until he began to scream, “Help! Help!! Is anyone there?! Is anyone…” He halted his noise instantly as he saw what was coming out of the fog clearly. It was like a human being leaping with a walking stick coming in his direction. “Everybody in the forest can't be walking with a stick, except one person. But is it possible?” His thought swirled his brain as he continued to focus his gaze on the person coming his way. “No way!” he mumbled in shock with his eyes widened like

“Aaauurrrrrhhh!” A loud weak yawn broke through the silence. But nothing was seen except the blurry view of two large eyes protruding out of a big green head with horns like… or perhaps antennas shooting out of the green head. But it seems what was seen wasn't much of a threat so… we can ignore it. Not until the creature whatever it was, felt like it was coming closer, closer? From where exactly? We can take another blurry look, but… it's gone, better! Not bad for another yawn of relief and… “aauurrrrrrhhh”*AATTTUUU!!!*Apphathorus let out a loud cough as the grasshopper almost flew into his mouth.*TUEH! TUEH!! TEUH!!!*He spat repeatedly even though the little grasshopper had flown away. “What was that for?! I was sleeping and you flew on my nose? That wasn't enough; I tried to yawn, and then you flew into my mouth till you finally woke me up?!”“Why don't you creatures of this jungle have any sense of humour?” He yelled out disgustedly at the grasshopper, which had flown into t

Gnashing his teeth together and pulling with all his strength, the monster wasn't still moving, not even a bit. Still trying to do the impossible, he remembered how he broke down the gigantic gates of the Iron Fortress, but that was nothing to be compared to a three-headed beast with terrific size. The monster mockingly relaxed its body, waiting to see the magic this little human being is about to perform; perhaps it could get entertained for a while before it finally swallows him. With all his veins protruding from under his skin and his face tightened intensively, Tydeus continued to prove his bravery- or stupidity. He pulled with every last fibre left in his being, but the monster was only moving in his mind. The thoughts of his brothers, Rakeh and Sakoh, flickered through his mind like ghosts, trapped within the cold, unforgiving confines of the King's prison. He could almost hear their silent pleas, yearning for his strength, hoping he would come to their aid.Urshuz, hopeless i

Caught in the tangled webs of his predicaments, Tydeus wrestled with his vague awareness of his surroundings. It was then that an unexpected breeze brushed against his skin, stirring him from his struggles. With a sudden jolt, he twisted around and was startled to discover that he lay precariously at the very edge of a towering cliff. The realization sent shivers down his spine as he crawled closer to the precipice, compelled by a mix of fear and curiosity. Peering over the edge, his breath caught in his throat. Below him lay an abyss of jagged trenches, their depths obscured by shadows. Massive, sharp rocks jutted out at odd angles, resembling the jagged teeth of a Dinosaur lurking beneath the surface. He faced the monster again as it continued to come closer, but he still hadn't gotten any idea. Perhaps the despair in his mind had clouded his thinking so badly. Suddenly, the last words he said on Isis' grave flashed in his mind. “I will kill Nezeron for you, Isis” his head rang li

The three-headed leviathan, which had no iota of pity, rammed into the log all with all its three heads, pushing both Tydeus and a massive log out of its way. And with such a merciless impact, Tydeus was projected into the sky. For a second, he noticed he couldn't breathe. The altitude from where gravity intercepted his projection to the ground level made his heart jerk in his chest. He immediately closed his eyes and covered his face with his elbow before he fell ruthlessly to the ground, landing him many contusions. The three-headed monster, unshaken, writhed all its head of the dust from the log, trying to get sight of its prey again, but it never saw Tydeus. It continued to roar powerfully, shaking the entire jungle but still didn't see its prey anymore. Tydeus lay under the root of a big tree full of thorns; he dragged himself onto the root perfectly to hide from the monster. His eyes fell on his arm which had started to bleed heavily, with bruises all over his body.He sorrowfu
