CHAPTER 31

“Thanks, sorceress, that was very mindful of you. This guy could have just killed himself now”, Sakoh said appreciating Isis.

“So I just saved your ass for free the second time, the third time, I promise you, I wouldn't even move an inch”, Rakeh said angrily to Artecus

“That wasn't fair! You all made to keep talking till I lost concentration”, Artecus protested

“Alright, fine! Enough of all the jokes. Now let's get serious. So how do we cross this bridge?” Sakoh cleared the air and asked the group

*Weouuweeeii!!!*

Sakoh immediately whistled and called his sparrow which had been flying in the sky. The bird came to him and landed on his shoulders as all four of them kept looking, observing the view before them.

The bridge seemed to have been a work of art but something terrible must have happened for the bridge to be broken in the middle, leaving only the starting part and the ending part that leads to the other side of the bridge.

The four of them stood at the edge of the starting part where the bridge was broken from and they began contemplating how they would cross the bridge.

“Alright, fellas, we are here, and we can see the so-called no-go area broken bridge. So who has a plan?...”

“Sakoh? Sorceress? Artecus? Any suggestions?” Rakeh asked the group as he turned to every one of them.

“Really? Do you need to ask? Have you forgotten I'm here?” Artecus spoke boldly as he rode his horse gently to the front to observe the broken bridge properly.

“Not now, Artecus, stop all the jokes. I'm serious now”, Rakeh told Artecus with a straight face.

“Of course, I'm also serious, man. Just hold on let me figure out a plan”, Artecus said as he took his attention to the bridge again.

“If you're not ready to work with us as a team, you are free to do whatever you like…”

“So guys, who has a plan? What do you think, sorceress?” Sakoh completely took his attention from Artecus and asked Isis.

“Uhmm, I think we should…” Isis was saying, and suddenly, she went mute.

Her eyes began to glow like she was about to explode or something. Her breathing was very fast, she obviously couldn't catch them. Even the racing sound of her heartbeat could be heard as her face suddenly became sweaty.

“Sorceress? Sorceress? Sorceress are you okay?...”

“Rakeh! Come let's help her. It seems she's having a convulsion”, Sakoh exclaimed suddenly as he jumped down from his horse to assist Isis before she unconsciously fell from her horse.

Rakeh also came down quickly from his horse as they both helped her gently from her horse.

“Sorceress? Sorceress? What happened to her just now?” Rakeh asked curiously as he and Sakoh helped her maintain balance.

“I don't know. I just asked her…”

“Uuhhhhh!!!” Isis immediately drew in her breath and exhaled heavily interrupting what Sakoh was about to say. She quickly came back to her consciousness, she had probably gone into a trance.

“Oh my goodness, I'm sorry. I'm okay”, Isis apologized as she took her hands off Rakeh and Sakoh.

“What happened, Sorceress? You had our hearts fried”, Rakeh asked sharply.

“I'm sorry, I just had a vision. The gods have just shown me something very crucial about…”

“Ahaa! I knew it. Fellas, I have just figured out a plan”, Artecus said exuberantly, intercepting Isis. He rode his horse closer to them.

“Then say it already”, Sakoh responded to Artecus.

“I have observed the other end of the bridge; the pillars beneath are already very weak; we apply too much weight, and the bridge collapses, sending us all into the deep trenches”, Artecus explained.

“So what do you think?” Rakeh asked Artecus curiously. It seems the guy is actually smart after all.

“Simple! We must jump over the broken part to the other end with our horses one after the other. If we apply too much weight on the other side, this bridge will shatter I'm damn sure of that”, Artecus elucidated his suggestion.

“I think that's a good plan. But that doesn't make you the smartest”, Sakoh responded to Artecus jestingly.

“Really? I just proved to you all that I…”

“No! Please you all have to listen to me. If we must cross this bridge alive, we must jump over at the same time and speed off to the other side…”,

“I have just seen the outcome if we try to do anything else. Please, it's dangerous; you all have to listen to me”, Isis informed them cautiously after she cut into Artecus's statement.

“Are you for real, Sorceress? Where did you get that from?” Artecus quickly questioned Isis.

“I told you I have just seen the vision; please, you all have to listen to me”, Isis replied pitifully. She must have probably seen the way they were all going to die as her face looked very grievous and anxious.

“Wow! So do we agree with now?” Sakoh asked sarcastically.

“Are you thinking straight, Sakoh? Come and see for yourself, even though you might not have any knowledge of construction, take a look at that…”

“You can see how weakened the pillars look. If we all jump at the same time, the pillar is going to tremble and collapse and we are all going to crash into the deep trench”,

“Don't you understand that? Or do you need Tydeus to come and make a decision for you?” Artecus scornfully informed Sakoh.

“Woah!” Sakoh exclaimed as he moved closer to Rakeh.

“Man, one thing I know is that we have faced more grave dangers than this, but right now, I'm really confused; who do we listen to?” Sakoh whispered to Rakeh

“Confused? I'm not confused. In fact, I already know who I'm agreeing with”, Rakeh said confidently as he mounted his horse.
