CHAPTER 37

Rakeh and his crew, Sakoh, Artecus and Isis, arrived at the Valley but from the back, where the Cytorex made their camps which were far away from the battlefront.

There were lots of tents in the small piece of land where they made their camps. The atmosphere at the back of the Valley was so silent that one could hardly know a fierce battle was happening at the front.

Behind the Valley of Bones is a thick bush which is near a river that connects to another road leading into the next City after Giza.

The Cytorex must have done their calculations well to come and camp in the Valley; they would have perfectly launched a smooth attack against Giza if the King and his army hadn't come for them.

Rakeh and his crew stealthily came down from their horses; the idea is that they shouldn't be noticed until they get the boy, the young prince, out of there.

But while they were planning, Tydeus proposed that the back of the Valley would be heavily secured since the Cytorex would be having their hostage in the camps which should be at the back.

But it appears the fierce battle happening in the front required the availability of all the Cytorex soldiers which made them assemble all their armies to tackle the King and his battalions, reducing the security at the back.

Rakeh and his team members ran furtively and hid in the bush which was behind the camps as they observed the view before them.

The tents were numerous in numbers, and their primary objective here was to go into one of the tents, extract the boy, and evacuate the place. But which of the tents is the boy held captive?

“Why do I feel this part of the task is going to be harder than crossing the broken bridge?” Sakoh asked, his voice barely a whisper.

“Maybe it's because it is the main task”, Rakeh responded to Sakoh

“Are we going to be entering the tents one by one? There are a lot of them here”, Isis asked the group.

“No, we wouldn't be doing that; it would be dangerous and unthoughtful”, Rakeh responded.

“Probably we should split up, I think that would work”, Sakoh suggested.

“Hmm. But hold on”, Rakeh said as he took his eyes to the tents looking for clues, and suddenly,

He noticed tiny smoke coming out of one of the tents; the tent seemed to be the biggest in the camp, making it stand out. This particular tent should be used for something special.

“Did you guys see that tent?” Rakeh said as he crawled silently and faced the direction of the tent.

“Yes, you think that is where they are holding him?” Sakoh asked

“Of course, that should be where the boy is held hostage”, Rakeh replied to Sakoh.

“So what do we do now?” Isis asked fastidiously.

“We have to crawl in the bush to the front of the tent. We might not be seeing any Cytorex soldiers now but something tells me they must be hiding somewhere”, Rakeh responded

They all began crawling, moving gently in the bush so as not to alert any Cytorex soldier who might be in the tents.

The four of them quickly crawled and hid in the bush in front of the big tent. But this time, they seemed to have a bigger problem. Four Cytorex soldiers with their sharp spears stood in from the tent guarding it vigorously.

“Seems you're right bro. The boy should be here. But now we got companies”, Sakoh said to Rakeh silently.

“Four bad guys, each with spears and swords. How do we get past them? Anybody?” Rakeh asked the group.

“I'd say we go quietly. It would be perfect if we can get the boy out of there without any notice”, Isis suggested.

“Oh well, Sorceress, that would be perfect if the soldiers in front gave us some permission. And the last time I learnt, the Cytorex only gives permissions with the tip of their blades, so we would need something more”, Sakoh responded to Isis.

“I don't think there's any way we are getting into the tent without getting rid of these soldiers. Artecus, what do you also think?” Rakeh asked as he turned to Artecus, who hadn't said anything since.

“Yeah, that's true. You've kept mute since we left the broken bridge. What would you also like to contribute?” Sakoh asked Artecus as he also turned to him.

Artecus's face quickly widened in surprise as the group all took their attention to him. He probably thought they would no longer regard him after what happened on the broken bridge. But it appears that he was wrong.

“Uhm me? I… I think…”

“Come on man, speak up. What happened at the bridge stays at the bridge. We are here now, and we will need you”, Rakeh said with a friendly smile to Artecus, who was almost stammering as he patted Artecus's shoulder.

“Whoa. But what if I'm wrong again?” Artecus asked with a doubting tone.

“Then we would figure out what is right”, Sakoh replied to Artecus with a warm smile.

“Really? But you said that's not how common sense works”

“Maybe not. But that's how teamwork works”, Sakoh responded to Artecus in a truce.

Artecus grinned tenderly like his heart had just been alleviated from a heavy stone in his chest upon realizing that his team members were not even mad at him. Isis saw the truce between the guys and giggled cheerfully, probably what she had been wanting to see.

“Nice. So how do we get past these four bad guys now?” Rakeh asked again.

“Okay. I think what you said earlier is correct. There's no way we are going to get into the tent without getting rid of the Soldiers…”

“In that case, I think we should all pick an opponent”, Artecus suggested confidently.

“Pick an opponent? Have you forgotten the Sorceress is here? We should probably defend her, not send her to face the enemy”, Sakoh quickly countered Artecus's suggestion.

After hearing this, Isis quickly turned to Sakoh, and an expression of surprise and dissatisfaction crossed her face. What does he take her for, a toddler? She continued staring at him scornfully, like he had just missed something.
