4: The Wolf's Mystery (IV)

The man runs out the door and Leonard goes down through the basement, to find a desperate scene.

The messy hair guy had his arms and legs bleeding and extremely injured, while he was going to be devoured by the werewolf, who at that point in time, was half transformed. With only its arms, head and foot in the form of a wolf.

Leonard lunges in to interrupt the action, hitting the lycanthrope with a bewildering slam that knocks the man to the ground. Then the boy does it again, trying to buy the man time to get away.

"RUN FROM HERE!" Shouted Leonard. His request is granted, and the guy with the messy hair starts to crawl in search of freedom.

Meanwhile, Leonard faces the wolf. Tired of just being beaten, the lycanthrope tries a diagonal attack with the aim of tearing the boy's skin. But the dodges the blow just by jumping back.

The wolf tries again, but Leo ducks to dodge and slashes at his opponent's belly. In order to make a stronger attack, the boy takes advantage of the wolf's momentary stun to extend his staff back and give it a boost.

However, this attack is cut off by a direct blow from the lycanthrope, strong enough to tear Leonard's shirt, at shoulder height, and part of his skin. Without being able to react, the wolf takes another blow to the head, followed by another, and finally, a third would hit and faint him.

But, Leonard is taken by surprise by a powerful and withering attack from the lycanthrope, which breaks the staff wielded by the boy in half, followed by a blow strong enough to throw him and make him hit his back against the wall...

The wolf walks to his next target. The man with the messy hair understands what was going to happen and crawls faster, hoping that he will be able to escape. Dragging his frail body down the basement stairs, his last efforts are in vain as he is trapped with a single blow. The lycanthrope dug its claws into the poor man's back, making him scream in pain. Then the wolf grabs its prey by the neck and backs close to it. Facing his next meal, he asks, in a demonic voice:

"Did you really think you could get away from me so easily?"

Despair floods the man's face. The wolf's claws penetrate his neck, making him bleed. The Lycanthrope would slowly torture before devouring him. He knew this, and therefore he turned his gaze to the only person who could help him at that moment.

Leonard Flint, stunned by the scene, becomes the interlocutor of the unknown man's last words. His voice pronounces, with the greatest difficulty in the universe, the words:

"Save me."

These words are abruptly interrupted.

One hit. A bite. One bite was all it took for Leonard to watch from his cabin an atrocious brutality that could not even be described in words. He sees all that completely stunned, paralyzed, and in the next instant, when the wolf turns to debone, finish what he started with his prey, the boy runs away, breaking down the door.

Leonard goes down the hill so desperately that he ends up falling. His hands and body were shaking. His clothes were soaked with sweat and blood from his wounds, but the external pain was the least of it.

His psychology was completely shaken.

The boy then kneels in the middle of the grass, trying to recover from the horror he has just witnessed, from the brutality that even spattered his face.

He was feeling powerless and faced with a dilemma: he wouldn't go back to the village to ask for help, afraid of taking the monster with him, but he also didn't know if he could find the strength to defeat it alone.

All of this was making his head spin, but suddenly, the wall of the house breaks down.

A fully transformed, the werewolf emerges.

A white and bipedal monster, with blood dripping from its mouth, and prepared to devour everything that comes in front of it. Leonard's expression of despair changes.

Upon spotting the wolf, she flares up in rage and, in her most primal move, he rushes to fight his tormentor. But his withering fury is subdued when, in one mighty move, the lycanthrope attacks.

His powerful slash rips from Leonard's right shoulder into his belly, causing blood to spurt from the claw wounds. Not satisfied, the wolf uses the stun of its prey to launch it, with a powerful kick, into a nearby tree, causing the injured boy to collide again and spit blood from his mouth.

Wounded and bleeding, Leonard faces a life-or-death situation. His powerful tormentor approaches, prepared to finish and devour his next victim. Leonard thinks of thousands of ways out, but none of them would work, because his body was sore.

He tries to scream, but his voice won't come out of his throat.

No amount of effort would work, and the closer the monster gets, the more desperate the situation becomes. The wolf arrives, watching its prey, and raises its arm to attack. Every millisecond of that action, in Leonard's mind, passes like minutes.

Excruciating minutes before a horrible death.

However, in that desperate moment, a miracle happens.

The lycanthrope's arm is targeted by an energy, fired at such a fast speed, he only realizes when he receives the attack. But it wasn't the only blow, because when the creature turns to understand what was happening, he is hit by a withering punch in the pit of the stomach, strong enough to throw him a good distance.

The authors of that reveal themselves. Charlotte Chloe and Adam Archen came to their friend's rescue.

As the puncher, Adam, is the first to see his poor friend's decaying state.

"Thanks," says Leonard in an exhausted voice.

"Thank us later, you have to rest now. Chloé and I have a big target to take care of!"

"Don't worry, Leonard," says Chloe. "We'll be able to take care of this!"

The wolf then roars, and Adam says, "Let's go!"

They crash into the creature. Adam fights using brute force and his technique, which takes the form of a gauntlet made of a resistant material and with the visual appearance of oak. While Chloé uses distance and her psychic energy technique to complement the rear and attack from a safe distance. Together, they were prepared to fight that powerful monster!

As the battle raged around him, Leonard lay on the ground, exhausted and wounded.

His muscles throbbed with pain, and his mind was reeling from the countless blows he had faced. He watched, with a mixture of frustration and admiration, as his companions fought valiantly against the menacing werewolf, without even an inch of hesitation.

His vision blurring and his ears ringing, he struggled to catch his breath and get back on his feet. Every fiber of his being yearned to get back into battle and fight alongside his friends. However, his strength was depleted, and his body cried out for rest.

It was at that moment of hopelessness that a figure approached him. A familiar voice called to him, and when Leonard turned to look, he saw Margaret at his  side.

But before he can say a word, his muscles roar with pain, he is forced back to his original position.

"Calm down." The lady said soothingly, her voice a gentle balm for Leonard's distress. "Do not make sudden movements. I know it's difficult, but try to find a comfortable position, and I'll take care of the rest."

Suddenly, Margareth's hands caught fire, a powerful flame enveloping them. But she didn't burn; instead, she emitted a cozy aura that warmed and healed. Leonard stared in disbelief as she used her powers to mend his wounds.

"Can you do it too?" He asked, still in awe.

"Yes!" Margareth smiled warmly – I used to do these things before you too. The system can conduct miracles in our world. But healing has its own limits. I can close your wounds, but the marks will remain. Even so, it will feel like nothing happened.

Leonard felt the wounds close, leaving only scars. He was healed, but the process left him slightly fatigued. Grateful, he inquired about Ryan's safety.

"Ryan's fine." Margareth assured him. "He even wanted to come with us, but I wouldn't let him, so he just showed us the way. Another thing, why didn't he come back for help?"

"I didn't know if I would make it in time." Leonard replied. "I knew what was happening there in the house, I just followed what my instincts told me."

Margareth gently scolded him

"If you go out doing things without caring about the consequences, some people might even end up thinking that you don't trust them. You see, much worse things could have happened to you if we hadn't arrived in time."

"I trust you!" Leonard protested. "It's just that the other times I managed to fix it alone, this one was no different."

Margareth's expression softened, and she said.

"Your temper reminds me of an old acquaintance."

"Is it someone I know?" Leonard asked, curious.

"No." Margareth replied wistfully. "He left a long time ago. We were roommates at the orphanage, and we shared the same dream, almost like you. But I felt our connection ran a little deeper. His name was Vincent, and to this day, I have great admiration for him."

"And why did you part ways?" Leonard questioned.

"Our paths diverged." Margareth explained. "And I also discovered my real purpose. In the end, I was just following his dream and not mine."

In the distance, the battle raged more fiercely, drawing the two's attention.

"Well, looks like they need your help." Margareth remarked, her concern shifting back to the ongoing fight.

Leonard's resolve strengthened, his determination renewed.

"Exactly. Finally, thanks again. I will not let your gesture be in vain."
