CHAPTER 4

There was no need for further explanation. 'The hospital had been purchased by a superior family.' the president had declared.

No other person had reached out to buy the hospital except for Alaric.

When the realisation dawned on Aiden that he had hit a hard rock, he fell flat to the ground immediately. "Young master, my sincere apologies. I take back all I said."

The revelation didn't hit him alone, but it also hit the nurses and guardians. However, fear could be noticed on the face of the nurses.

"We did underestimate him, now I'm very sure we will get fired." A nurse had murmured in fear.

"It's not me you offended, you offended my young master. So it's only if he forgives you. The ball remains in his court." Alaric replied to the director.

Even after the discouraging words, Aiden kept apologising, however, the moment he realised the nurses were still on their feet, he yelled. "You all should get down on your knees! Can't you get a hang of the situation?"

Edwin on the other hand was still caught in the middle of surprises. None of the drama unfolding before him mattered.

All that mattered was getting his mom treated. The next question on his tongue was, what next. But Alaric was swift to say.

"Young master, we can get your mom treated, since you now own the hospital."

Edwin was slightly shocked, but then before he went into any form of trance, he quickly said. "I doubt the authenticity of these doctors. I won't allow any of them to lay a hand on my mom."

"Where can I get a professional doctor to carry out the surgery?"

Alaric however smiled. "Young master, you need not bother. Trust me when I say you have no problem.'' He took his phone to make a call.

"Young master, please, tender justice with mercy. We all have families to cater for. Losing this job will go a long way to break our families."

Edwin only changed his stance, took a look into his phone with a broken screen at intervals, while trying to track time.a

At each passing minute, he was getting impatient, as such, he cared less about the whims from Aiden and his cohorts.

In a short while, a medical van arrived with several doctors.

Elegantly, they strolled in In their white uniforms and then bowed to Edwin.

"Mr Alaric, can we see the patient please?" The head doctor questioned.

Hurriedly, Edwin led them to the bed of his sick mother, and thereafter she was wheeled into a ward.

All doctors had their hands on deck, trying to diagnose her condition before commencing any surgery as stated earlier on.

"Doctor Rechester!" one of the former hospital doctors exclaimed at the top of his voice.

"Are you blind? Where can you find Doctor Rechester? What will he be doing here?" another doctor cautioned instantly, but then the previous doctor was quite persistent.

"Can't you see?" He pointed at the transparent walls, through which they could view the inner.part of the ward.

"That's Doctor Rechester, he is the lead doctor, and look around, that's Doctor Precilia, Anabel, Jack and Taylor. All top doctors in the country."

At the sudden recognition, there were audible mumblings which suddenly turned disturbing.

Aiden had to intervene putting a stop to the mumblings. "Let the doctors concentrate." he made a firm stand.

Nevertheless, the mumblings wouldn't end. A lot had happened in the last few hours which was quite difficult to comprehend.

After several minutes of intense diagnoses, Doctor Rechester came forth to declare. "Young master, your mum only has an ulcer due to inadequate feeding and she lacks the required nutrients for her body metabolism."

Edwin was suddenly alert. "You mean she doesn't need surgery? She doesn't have appendicitis as said?" his eyes were wide awaiting a response.

"Not at all, young master. Just as I stated earlier, she's only suffering from malnutrition which already caused deficiency and of course an initiator of the pains she's going through."

Edwin was seething in anger. He couldn't contain the fact that they would offer a fake diagnosis. Nevertheless, he waited for Rechester's words before he made a stand.

"I'll put her on some medications, and then with adequate feeding, she will be back on her feet in no time."

"Thanks doctor. I need to face those that gave a wrong diagnosis about my mom all along," he turned to face Aiden and his cohorts immediately.

"You made a fake report about my mother's illness? How many people have you done this to, just to squander money from them?"

"Young master, please. A second chance will prove our sincerity for a change." Aiden responded apologetically.

Alaric nodded and voiced. "Young master, they deserve no mercy, should I call the corps? A lot of people really would have suffered this same fate."

"It's too late for mercy. Alaric call the corps." He turned deaf ears to their pleas.

"Young master, please." None of their pleas were getting to him.

He would tolerate them messing with people's lives and going scot-free with it.

At the same time, the guardians and few patients who got to know about what was going on were surprised.

They appreciated the fact that Edwin could put an and to such corrupt practices in the hospital. At the same time, those who witnessed the scene were awed to realise how much there was more to a person than just the looks.

Edwin went to sit beside his mother, but then a cord struck in his heart to tell Ciara everything that had happened during his stay in the hospital.

Moreover, he was willing to share the news about Aiden and how their situation seems to change.

He took his phone from his pocket and was about to call her, when her call came through. "Hi, babe…"

"I want a divorce."
