The processing of his car document would take 4 hours and he had no reason to wait there when all the workers would make him their cinema and the manager would keep apologizing over every little things.
" I can't go to the party with my old car as it doesn't befit my status any longer. I should just take a taxi down and come back for my car in 4 hours. " He told himself and brought out his phone.
He checked the location of the nearest taxi and fortunately, he realized one was about to get to his place. He waved his hand and the taxi stopped.
" I should go with this. " He mumbled as he entered the car and the car drove off.
The party was being held in a bar. Griffin told the man to stop in front of the bar's gate and he alighted after paying him.
He got out of the car and he was surprised when he saw his friend standing in front of the gate, waiting for him.
" Hey Chris!" Griffin shouted and waved to his friend who immediately ran toward him and gave him a hug.
" Griffin! It's been a while, man!" Chris muttered sincerely as he checked Griffin over and smiled excitedly.
He turned around, searching for something for minutes before he raised a questioning brow~ " Where is your girlfriend? Why is she not here with you today?" He asked. " You guys always come together..." He mumbled while searching Griffin's eyes for answer.
Griffin sighed and smiled bitterly " Let's go in. We can catch up later. " He changed the topic as he wasn't interested in talking about his ex but Chris was persistent.
He shook his head and stood gingerly in front of Griffin " Who knows if we will be able to talk after the party? Tell me now. What happened between you two that you have to come alone today?" He insisted.
Griffin smiled wryly " The thing is..." He was still trying to explain when a car drove past them and stopped not too far away from them.
" What a luxury car!" Chris exclaimed as he looked at the car with sparks in his eyes.
Griffin turned his head to see the car and his eyes darkened. He needed no one to tell him who was in the car and it made his mood sour for a seconds.
The car door opened widely and Benedict was the first to alight from it. He walked over to Charlotte's side and opened the car door for her, letting her down like a perfect man.
" Thanks baby. " Charlotte appreciated before wrapping her arms around Benedict's neck and kissed him gently on his lips.
" Isn't that Charlotte? What's he doing with that guy?" Chris asked. He had been watching the car until the two came out of it and he was shocked to see his friend's girlfriend kissing someone else right in front of his friend.
Griffin wanted to talk but he decided to keep quiet and just smiled. " Let's go in. We can talk inside. " He whispered to Chris but they soon heard a loud clap coming from Charlotte's side and it attracted their attention.
The two turned their heads only to see Charlotte and Benedict walking toward them with smirks on their faces.
" Oi! What are you doing here, pauper? You're not even with your rickety car today~ Don't tell me you've sold it to afford a day meal?" Charlotte mocked immediately she got to where Griffin and Chris were staying.
She placed her hand on Benedict's chest and rubbed it gently " Babe," she called sweetly while making seductive gestures.
" Sweetie. " Benedict called lovingly, kissed Charlotte's forehead and caressed her long hair. " You, I thought I saw your car earlier, You've sold it that fast? Are you so hungry?" He asked, making a sympathetic face as if Griffin was the most pathetic person he had ever met.
" How were you planning to care for a sweet babe like this with your dry pocket before? You weren't using your head, were you?" He added and clicked his tongue irritatedly.
" What are you two doing?! Are you saying all that to Griffin?" Chris questioned with anger in his eyes. He couldn't afford to listen to them any longer as he felt it was unfair toward Griffin who lost his girlfriend because he was poor and that same girlfriend kept insulting him as if he was less than a human.
" Say that word again and I will make you regret it!" He hollered and clenched his fist but Griffin grabbed his shoulder and patted it gently.
" Let them be. They are nothing but clowns. " Griffin replied gently. His tone was extremely calm and he had no grudge as he knew he was already richer than the foolish Benedict.
Chris glared at the two for some seconds before he grabbed Griffin's hand and they both walked into the party.
The guys were all surprised to see each other and they all greeted with excitement in their eyes. This kind of party happened once in a while but it was a great chance for them to meet again.
The party started and everyone started partying. Everyone was enjoying themselves until Charlotte stood up and asked for the music to be paused.
" Hey guys! My baby said you all can order whatever you want and he's going to pay! Party all you want, guys! Bills on my baby!" She announced arrogantly and cheers resounded from all corners of the bar!
She clapped her hands and smiled pretentiously " Well... my baby is so rich that he can buy the whole of this bar. Paying for you guys is the least he can do. He will pay for everyone except Griffin and that's because he... I don't want to say it, hahaha!" She made a knowing face while sizing Griffin up and down and their other classmates laughed.
They were all happy that someone was going to pay for them and they gave no damn about the person that was left out.
Chris stood up and hushed the classmates. " What do you mean he will pay for everyone else except Griffin? Is Griffin not one of us here? Don't you think that's unfair?" He asked with a raised brow.
Everything Charlotte was doing seemed to annoy him and he hated her for her silly actions.
Charlotte looked around for a while before she rolled her eyes. " It's unfair? Is it not his money? He can pay for whoever he likes and leave out whoever he wants. Go and make your own money too and see how it's being done. Well... You've just made my baby angry and for that, we ain't paying for you either!" Charlotte announced and Chris sneered.
" Pay for me? Who told you I needed you to pay for me before? I never asked you!" He hollered back and sat down.
" I wouldn't even accept it if you decide to pay because I can always pay for myself." He added and crossed his legs.
Benedict was furious! He never excepted anyone to be a headache for him here but this?
He smiled devilishly and signaled for a waiter to come over. " Serve these two young men ten bottles of wine." He ordered and the waiter immediately rushed away.
Chris was shocked! " Each bottle of wine cost 10k dollars! What's this pr**k playing at?! Has he lost his mind?! " Chris was troubled!
Benedict looked at the two and his anger washed away and dissolved into excitement. He smirked and winked at them. " Can you two losers afford to pay for that?" He asked with his legs crossed!
