The nurses turned to Kraig, startled by his sudden appearance.

Madam Zury, who had been frail and quiet, looked up weakly, her eyes glimmered for a moment as she try to recognize the child standing in front of her.

"Who are you?" one of the nurses asked, her tone defensive.

Ignoring the question, Kraig approached Madam Zury, taking her frail hand in his. "It's me, Kraig. I've come to check on you."

Madam Zury's eyes welled up with tears as she whispered, "Kraig, my dear."

Kraig turned to the nurses with a stern expression. "This woman cared for me and countless others when we had no one else. She employed you, is this not enough reason to respect her?"

The nurses exchanged glances and then looked at Kraig's casual attire—jeans and a plain sleeve. One of them couldn't resist a smirk. "Still struggling, are we?" she asked, her voice tinged with mockery.

The other nurse chimed in, her laughter not far behind. "Yeah, and I wonder if he can even afford university."
