"You don't have to thank me," I said coolly, my voice laced with a hint of detachment. "I am only doing my work, after all," I continued, my voice conveying an air of indifference. "And you shouldn't expect me to be nice to you," I added pointedly, "because you're never nice to me." As I finished speaking, he nodded his head swiftly, as if acknowledging the truth behind my words. There was a hint of resignation in his eyes, as if he had finally come to accept the reality.

"I am ready to face whatever you have in store for me," he said, his voice tinged with desperation. It was as if he had resigned himself to the fact that he had no choice but to endure whatever challenges awaited him. Unable to contain myself, a slight smile danced upon my lips, a mixture of satisfaction and perhaps even a touch of amusement at his predicament. It was a fleeting momentary expression, quickly masked by my composed demeanor.
