Rumors don't die easily

"This is not what you think, Mike," Zia said, her voice filled with a mix of concern and regret.

"What is it then? You just told me she's not here with you. So it was true, you are dating your staff," Mike demanded, his tone heavy with accusations.

"Mike, it's not what you think," Zia explained, attempting to defuse the tension. "I was just here to discuss something important with him. I was the one who told him to deny the fact that I am here," she added, taking the blame upon herself.

"How do you expect me to trust you?" Mike said firmly, his anger boiling within him. "He told me he was alone."

Zia's heart sank as she felt the weight of Mike's distrust press upon her. She desperately sought to find the right words to make him understand. "Mike, don't you trust me?" she asked, her voice laced with vulnerability. "Do you honestly think I could have anything to do with him? This is just a trap. There is nothing between us."
