THE NEW POWER

Mr. Larkin returned home from work feeling sad and happy. He was sad and heartbroken by what he saw. He wished Miller could make him proud and happy someday.

As he entered the house, he saw his wife in the kitchen preparing dinner, and Miller slumped on the couch, staring blankly at the television. Miller had been a wreck ever since the shaman's family rejected him, and it pained Mr. Larkin was pained to see his son so useless. He hadn't achieved anything good in his life.

"Hey, everyone," Mr. Larkin called out, he wanted to tell them what he saw today that made him very happy and very sad. "I have some news."

Miller barely acknowledged his father's presence, but Mrs. Larkin turned from the stove, a questioning look on her face.

"What is it, dear?" she asked.

"Kim got married," Mr. Larkin announced, his voice filled with pride. "The ceremony was beautiful and private, and I bet, his parents would have been so proud of him. He's really made something of himself."
