Part 7

Brenda's mind was filled with various thoughts. Edward was rich, and he was quite handsome. She should be happy that a man like Edward took an interest in her. It's just that the current situation was different from before. Someone like Edward would not hurt her family like those people.

For now, Brenda was not uninterested in Edward, but she did not want to be seen as a gold digger. "Mr Edward, can you give me 3 months? If I still can't pay, then... then... I will agree to whatever you ask."

Edward realized something only after hearing that answer. He laughed before replying, "Sorry, I guess my words were too ambiguous. What I meant was, I want you to work for me, and I will give you forty thousand dollars a month. Are you interested?"

Brenda had a hard time believing her ears. Forty thousand dollars a month? That's a year's salary at Shennan's Boutique!

"Why... why are you doing all this?" Brenda was of course delighted, but she also knew that Edward seemed to have other intentions towards her.

Edward pretended to think before answering in a half-joking tone. "The Hurleys are having a birthday party tonight. Would you like to go with me, Miss Brenda?"

Brenda was taken aback. As a cashier at the Shennan Boutique, how could she not know the Hurley family? They were one of the most respected families in the city. And now, Edward was asking her to go to such a big and grand event? Does she deserve to go there?

"Mr. Edward, I ..."

Edward smiled. "You'll look stunning. Trust me, I know."

Brenda could feel her body temperature rising. She could not deny that the man standing before her was too mesmerizing.

"Alright," she said.

"Very good. I'll pick you up in two hours."

"But my job---"

"Aren't you going to work for me? Send me your account number and buy the dress you like."

Brenda gave up. After all, Edward's offer was too good to be true. Working for him was definitely better than paying him with her body.

"This!" A few moments later, Brenda exclaimed in shock when she saw the amount of money in her bank account. That was two million dollars!

Brenda was still stunned when Edward added, "I have to go to the hospital. See you later."

Edward rushed to the hospital. He forgot to give his address to the boutique.

At Alaster Hospital.

A nurse had just come out of VIP room number 5. Edward approached her and asked, "How is he?"

The nurse looked over before shaking her head with a sad face. "Not so good. Lately, Mr. George's condition has continued to deteriorate. Mr. Edward, I'm afraid that ..."

"I see. Can I see him?"

"Alright, but please don't take too long. His condition is too weak."

After the nurse left, Edward opened the door and entered the room. There was an old man lying on a bed. He was George Westbrook, Emily's grandfather and also the head of the Westbrook family.

"Mr. Westbrook, I came to see you."

George looked very pale, and he was overjoyed after seeing Edward. "How are you?"

Edward took a chair and sat next to George. "Never better."

George sighed and replied, "Don't lie to me. My daughter treated you badly. Emily even dared to defy me by getting into a relationship with another man. What an unfilial descendants. If Samuel hadn't saved me that day, I would have been dead long before they were born."

Samuel was Edward's grandfather, and he was George's friend during the war. They wanted to unite the two families through marriage, but unfortunately, Samuel was unable to have children. This was because he was shot in the lower abdomen while rescuing George.

One day, Samuel adopted a baby who was placed on his doorstep, and he named him Edward. George, who always wanted to return the favor, finally decided to marry Edward to his granddaughter, Emily.

Edward smiled wryly, but considering George's condition, Edward did not want to discuss his problems with the Westbrook family.

"Mr. Westbrook, this time, I have come to discuss something far more important than my personal matters."

The seriousness in Edward's eyes stirred something in George's heart. "What is it?"

Edward looked around before looking back at George. "After grandfather died, I've come to think of you as my own grandfather, and I couldn't let you die like this. I'll be honest with you. Not long ago, I gained the power to cure all kinds of diseases, and I intend to cure you."

Edward spoke from his heart. In the past, Edward had always talked about everything he went through to Samuel, and since he considered George as his own grandfather, Edward wanted to treat George like Samuel.

George's pupils narrowed as he asked, "What do you mean? I don't understand."

George's reaction was natural, so Edward took a pen from his pocket and stabbed his left hand until it bled.

"Stop it! What are you doing?"

George was so shocked that he wanted to force himself to get up. He was about to scold Edward before his eyes saw something beyond logic.

Upon touching it with his right index finger, the stab wound on Edward's left hand lit up like a light bulb before it closed in an instant. Edward then showed off his left hand to George.

"Mr. Westbrook, take a look---"

"I don't see anything. Edward, remember one thing. Don't let anyone else know about this, and make this the biggest secret of your life. I don't need your help either."

"But I can---"

However, before Edward could finish his sentence, George grabbed Edward's wrist with all the strength he had.

"We're talking about terminal lung cancer! Do you know the consequences? Millions of patients will chase you for a cure. The government will arrest you to investigate your powers. Even major criminals will hunt you down for evil purposes. Edward, this kind of power will be able to change destiny. Even if you are forced to use it, you must make sure that no one else knows about it. Do you understand?"

Edward's mouth seemed to move as if he was about to say something, but not a word was spoken.

'Mr Westbrook is right. I was too careless.'

Silence fell in the VIP room number 5. George decided to say something that he had been keeping to himself.

"I don't have much time. I'll tell you a secret, but before that, can you promise me not to act rashly?"

"Sure." Edward agreed without any hesitation.

"Actually your grandfather didn't die from illness, but was poisoned by someone."

Edward's rage rose in an instant. His mind was filled with murderous intent as he shouted, "Who? Who did it?"
