Chapter Eighteen

"Can anyone explain what's happening here?" Mr. Celio asked again. "Why are the staffs not working? Why are they clustered in one corner?"

"I believe that would be my fault," Charles chipped in before Madame Visa replied. "We were trying to settle some poor customer care issues but I'm already on my way out."

Madame Visa shot Charles a pleading look, begging him not to say anything. Charles had never seen her that humble and scared before. He knew that reporting her to Mr. Celio would be the end of her job.

"What poor customer care issue?" Mr. Celio asked, looking around in bewilderment. He didn't want to believe that any of his staff would be trying to ruin the reputation of his store. "Please, enlighten me, Sir. I'm Celio, the owner of this great store."

Charles cleared his throat. "I'm Charles."

"Mr. Charles was actually leaving." Madame Visa chipped in immediately, hoping she could drive Charles away before the truth leaked out. "May I escort you outside?"
