Charles phoned Mr. Grayson a little to midnight after he had thought his plan over and over, through and through, and on the second ring, Mr. Grayson picked. "Well…" Charles started."You've made up your mind?" Mr. Grayson asked, wondering what Charles' decision was going to be."Yes, I have." Charles replied as he played with a loose wool from his pillow. "And what is it?" Mr. Grayson asked, and Charles smiled. He could hear the eagerness in Mr. Grayson's voice. Mr. Grayson was really looking up to Charles and it was all the more reason for Charles to feel pressured to make it work. "I'm going to try my best to convince Mr. Dane." Charles replied, and Mr. Grayson couldn't contain his smiles."Thanks so much, Charles. I really appreciate it. I really do." Mr. Grayson told him honestly, and Charles smiled still twirling the loose wool around his finger. "So, I'll arrange your flight. You just need to get the necessary documents ready." Mr. Grayson added, and Charles sat up straight.
Charles decided to ignore it, thinking maybe she was just like that—weird, and smiling."Alaric is having a meeting right now. He actually didn't plan for it. It was a sort of impromptu meeting. It was uncalled for so he had to attend to it using Skype. He'll be down in a moment, so in the meantime, I can keep you occupied. I'm Josephine, Alaric's wife." She explained, then introduced herself as she walked to him, extending her hand.He shook it politely and she held onto his hand. Charles wondered what was wrong with her. She had just called herself Alaric's wife so why was she still trying to flirt with him? Was she there to sabotage his mission?"Would you let go please?" He asked, the words polite and soft but nothing like the hard look in his eyes, and she smiled and left his hand."You're just what I like. Well, follow me. I want to give you a tour of our house as requested by Alaric. He's sorry for keeping you waiting when you must be busy so he wanted you to take your mind of
Charles stared at the magazine not knowing how he was going to sneak his way into Mr. Dane's heart if he wasn't even going to listen. Josephine picked up the magazine and stared at it, but didn't make a comment, she only sipped wine carefully as she stared at it, and then seconds later, her eyes met Charles' and she raised a brow. He looked away from her, and turned to Mr. Dane."What day do you think would be perfect for you to listen?" Charles asked, and Mr. Dane looked out the window with a look of utter disinterest pasted on his face. "I'll call you very soon. Although I do not assure you that I will still agree to buy the land." He continued, raising his glass to his lips."Honey, don't drink too much wine. Whenever you drink too much, you do not eat whatever I cook." Josephine whined and she went over to him, taking the glass of wine from him gently, and he smiled up at her."I can't help it. The wine is delicious." Mr. Dane countered, and she giggled. "It shouldn't be as swe
Charles immediately fished out a casual sweatshirt, took off his white shirt, and pulled the sweatshirt over his head.Business men did anything for business' sake, he kept on repeating in his head as he styled his hair in front of the mirror."Perfect." He whispered to himself, slathering cream on it. All he needed at the moment was the perfect way to gain her trust. She wasn't to know that it was the power she exercised over her husband that he needed, and not her, unless she might be unwilling because he could tell she was going to be a handful of she wanted to cause trouble. After trying to look his best, Charles left his house in a casual yellow sweatshirt, grey pants, and his hair styled to perfection while still maintaining a casual look, and hailed a cab, telling the driver the address he was going to. About half an hour later, Charles showed up at Mr. Dane's residence when the moon was already high in the sky, shining down in a beautiful crescent. His fingers found the bell
Charles immediately regained his composure and took a step back."Listen, I have my ego too, lady. Tell me if you're interested or not. You were all into me this morning, bugging me and clinging onto me and I decide that there's nothing for me to lose so I could tally with you, but next you accuse me of using you. Who's using who in this stuff? You want to use me because your oldie is not enough for you. Isn't that what's happening here?" He attacked her, feigning anger and she blinked, rethinking everything and the anger cleared from her eyes."Well…" she was saying but he held up a hand."And did I ever suggest you helping me with your husband? Think back on our conversation. I only commented about how the dinner wasn't perfect because your husband wasn't exactly pleasing. You're the one who went off bragging about how you could turn his heart of stone into foam." He shot at her."I wasn't bragging!" She said and her eyes began to shine with tears."Wait. You're crying? Damn you're
"Jeez!" Charles muttered as he bent his head to the table."What's wrong?" Josephine asked, and chose that time as the right time to take off her glasses."Would you put on those damn glasses?" He whispered through clenched teeth."Damn?" She asked and scoffed, flipping her hair out of her face. "Now you get to use bad words too? That's a way of making me happy, I guess? You're really one strange man." She told me, prepared to stand but ue held her shoulders down."Put. Your. Glasses. On." He said laying emphasis on every word. "Alaric." He whispered and her mouth which had been ready for a wide scoff, ran down."Alaric is here?" She asked breathily, as she leaned low onto the table."Holy sh…" she was saying as she spotted Alaric but managed to cover her mouth. Her eyes went wide as they seemed to be thinking of a million things that would happen to her, and so did my eyes. I was going to be doomed. It would not only make Alaric reject the land, it would make him enemies with both he
Charles couldn’t believe his ears. He wondered how Josephine would be friends with people who wanted what she had. It was understandable that they could also desire what she had, but when it comes to a man, it shouldn’t be so.“I don’t think I heard you right.” Charles said, staring at her to be certain she meant what she said.“I said I want you to be mine. Be my man. Look, I really admire you, Charles. I admire your physique, and you look intelligent.”“Thank you for the compliment, but I’ll pass, Miss.” Charles rejected her offer, and cleared his throat.Still, Josephine’s friend was relentless.“I can give you whatever you want. Is it hot and constant sex? Money, fame, a high position, respect, lands? Just name it. I’ll make it happen, instantly.” She said, trying to tempt Charles enough for him to accept her.“I’m sorry, I have to make a pass on that. I still stand on my response. If you don’t mind, I think I’ll take my leave.” Charles tried to excuse himself.“Hold on. Please ho
Those words felt like golden eggs to Charles as this was what he had been expecting for so long. To him, it was so certain that if Josephine should speak to Mr. Dane, concerning the land, it would be solved.Charles let out a loud laughter of joy, then hugged her tight. Josephine was glad that she made him this happy, and she cherished that moment.“Thank you so much, Josephine. You are such a darling. I can’t believe this, but I guess this is real.” Charles said, trying hard to contain his joy in the best way possible.“It is real, Charles. I have decided to help you, and I will ensure I stand on Alaric’s neck to make sure he considers buying your land for a very good price.” Josephine assured him.“Oh, my goodness. Thank you so much. I really do appreciate you, Josephine. In fact, I’m so lucky to have met someone as golden as you.” Charles complimented her, trying to make her feel really good.He knew that the more he made her blush and feel good, they more she would want to give in
