Aidan locked eyes with his grandfather, as he sat down again. He wanted to ask what it was that his grandfather found out but he decided to let the man tell him everything at his own pace.
"The accident which claimed the life of your parents was all planned." Revealed Mr. Kal.
Aidan's eyes widened in shock and there was a questioning look on his face.
"Your father's business partner's hand work. When your parents attended the party organized in honor of their child's third birthday, they tampered with their car. You were just five years then if memory serves me right. I was enraged when I found out that their accident was planned and I decided to ruin them." His voice was now full of anger and Jonas quickly told him something in Greek and he calmed down.
"I was planning on their ruin when I received the news that you were found. You were washed offshore and found by a fisherman who took you to the hospital, from there an orphanage took you in when you couldn't answer any questions that might help the security find your family. I was happy that my daughter's blood still breathed." He said as he looked at Aidan and smiled.
Aidan smiled back but deep in him, he was pained.
"Your father's business partner maneuvered the business and made himself CEO. I found out that your father had made a will in which 70% of his property belongs to you and the remaining 5% of his share was to be given to charity organizations, but all these were to happen once you are 30 and in their absence was in charge." He explained.
"When you know I was in the orphanage, why didn't you come for me?" Aidan asked, pain evident in his voice.
"I didn't come for you because I believed you're in a better position to avenge your parent's death." His grandfather answered calmly.
Aidan arched an eyebrow and looked at his grandfather, he was trying his best to control his anger but he was balanced on a sword's edge and any little provocation now will trip him off just like a time bomb.
How can his grandfather allow him to see hell despite knowing where he is? "I could have vengeance while I'm still with you, had I been with you, I'll have had my vengeance for all those wasted years of my life."
"You can't call all those years of your life wasted son, you have become strong and courageous while you were away from me. You had become a man of your own, you lived your life on your terms, how could you call all those years wasted? It wasn't wasted, you were building yourself." His grandfather explained calmly.
Aidan couldn't just understand anything, his grandfather could have ruined the lives of those responsible for his daughter's death, why did he want him to do it? Questions began to pop up in his mind again.
"Here. Take a look at this." Mr. Kal said, handing him an envelope.
He opened it and found out that it was the result of his DNA result, it proved that they were indeed related.
"Do you have any other motive for keeping me in the orphanage apart from me learning to be a man of my own?" Aidan asked, dropping the piece of paper on the side table beside him. He took a look at the file his grandfather had dropped and suddenly he felt the urge to take it and look at the pictures of the monster that ruined his perfect family but he decided to let things be. He doesn't think he's ready to see such a monster.
"Our family lineage is known to put forward different tests to know if truly the male son is worthy enough to handle the family empire and survive any given situation. So, I never really abandoned you, I kept track of your life from the day I found out that you were alive." He explained, looking straight into his grandson's eyes, Aidan immediately lowered his eyes.
"I meant no harm for you and I never let any harm befall you. Take everything that happened to you as a test. You are my hope and only heir, I could never allow any untoward tragedy to befall you." Mr. Kal added.
Aidan needed something to calm his nerves, and he saw the remaining glass of wine his grandfather drank before, he took it and gulped it down in one go.
"Aidan, your grandfather meant no harm to you. I've been working for him for as long as I can remember, he never let me out of his sight, but he asked me to come to look after you and that has been my job. I've been his eyes when it comes to you. In everything he does, it was all to test your capabilities." Jonas interfered in the duo discussion for the first time since they started talking.
Aidan smiled a thank you to Jonas and Jonas nodded.
"What's next?" Aidan asked, noticing his grandfather's silence.
"I'm dying Aidan." Came the silent answer.
Aidan looked at his grandfather, and the man stared at him back. Why was his grandfather talking about dying? The man still looked pretty good though frail.
"My immune system had been very weak and my health started failing from the day your mother breathed her last. Artemis was my life and I regretted every single thing I did when she made her choice of groom. Had I accepted her choice, my goddess would still be with me today, but in the quest to make her bow down to my worthless demand, I lost my life." Mr. Kal explained in a pain -sickening voice.
"What has happened has happened, sir. We can't change destiny but we can try to make it better. I know it's hard for you but everything happened for the best. Look on the bright side and quit talking about death. You can't leave me now, I've lost everything I ever considered my own, my wife's family turned out to be a crook who is only after my talent, they deserted me when I needed them the most. I'm very bitter towards them and I'll make sure they pay heavily for whatever they did to me." Aidan swore, folding his hand in knuckles due to anger.
His grandfather saw the blazing fire of anger in his eyes, he could see the rhythm of vengeance vibrating in his grandson's body, and deep within him, he was overflowing with joy. This is what he needs to see, this was why he left him in the orphanage so he'll grow, he had no ounce of regret in him that he had not taken him in when his parents died.
Mr. Kal made eye contact with Jonas and smiled.
Jonas swallowed a big gulp of saliva, he knew that the next revelation would erupt the boiling volcano in Aidan.
"Aidan." His grandfather called.
"Yes, sir," Aidan answered, trying to compose himself.
Mr. Kal still doesn't like the way Aidan addresses him but he doesn't seem to show it again, things will adjust in no time, he kept assuring himself.
"Your father's business partner, Mr. Orion, with the help of his dubious wife, took over your family's business shortly after their demise. They had this fear that I'll come and ruin their plan but I made no move, so they thought that I truly had no interest in my daughter and her family again. I let them think that they got away with their crimes against me, you, my daughter, and your father. They made the business their family business and named it after Mr. Orion's lineage." He continued.
Aidan couldn't understand how someone could be so wicked to another fellow man. What is he even insinuating, his wife's family had done the same to him, he'd helped them, and in the end, what kind of payment do they wish him? Death. He answered the question that arose in his mind.
His grandfather took the file from the table and opened it. He brought out an envelope and handed it over to him. "In that envelope, are the pictures of your family murderers."
Aidan's thoughts ran a marathon and he could swear his hands shook, he opened the envelope and brought out the pictures, he looked at the images staring back at him, and his world plowed into confusion, as the pictures fell from his hands. Those faces look very much familiar.
Aidan stood up, staggering backward, what's happening? How's this possible? How can one family be responsible for all the miseries in his life? Jonas quickly stood up to support him, but he held out his hand, "please Jonas, I'm fine. Just sit" Came the sharp order. Jonas looked at the young man with pity, he knew things won't be easy for him, it's such a strange world.Mr. Kal was immediately alarmed seeing his grandson's face going pale. "Aidan! Sit!" He ordered, but Aidan was in da aze.His anger was slowly consuming him, he needed somewhere to cool off. The room seems to be suffocating him and he wants to go out. "I need to go out, please." He pleaded with clenched teeth "You're not going anywhere. Sit Aidan." Came the old man's order the second time. He really wished to grant his grandson's wish and let him be alone but he can't, he has little time left. He'd cheated death for a long time. AiAidan'snger took over him, he needs to cool off... He began to head out but some he
Aidan's face has this agonized smiling expression that tore at his grandfather's heart. When a Karanos smiles in danger or pain, the reason behind it should run a marathon every second because if those smiles should be turned into an evil smirk, woe upon woe would be upon that person. Mr. Kal took Aidan's hand and patted it, "you need to think with a clear mind, son. Whatever is going on in your head, just know that God has been with you all these while and he'd keep you alive for a reason. Don't be so hard on yourself, and don't act foolishly too. You have a lot to learn my boy." Aidan's body tensed and his muscles clenched, he felt his body temperature rising in such a way that he wished for a cold bath, but he was in no right frame of mind. He'd been angry before, but never like this. The way he was feeling now could not be compared to anything he'd felt before. He was angry and in pain when Arissa broke his heart, but what he's currently feeling now is like a dozen of what he
Aidan surveyed the room that was once his mother's. The room itself screams money, the designs are simple but exquisite. His mother must have loved his father to leave everything and go to him. Love? He sat down on the nearest cushion and relaxed his head. His love life is nothing interesting and yet interesting. When he got married to Arissa, things seemed to have fallen into place for once in his life, but it turns out everything was just an illusion. Yeah... He was living an illusion. It is a wonder to him how they have the guts to think of killing him for something that's rightfully his. His own company. A smirk carved across his face. Staying with the Pedros has revealed a lot more about them than he could comprehend. The darn family painted a picture-perfect family to the public but nothing is going right with them. Everything about the family is just wrong. They portrayed good images to the public through the media, and in reality... They are monsters, greedy monster
His eyes fluttered open gently and he could feel the aches in his body were gone. He looked around at the enormous room he'd slept in, a painful smile displayed on his face. There were many reasons for it... His sight was a blessing to him, being able to see again changes everything, it's like he's born again. Being a blind person wasn't easy, back at his in-law's house, he'd been treated like shit. Even the servants and dogs in the house got better treatment than him, he was reminded every darn day that he was nothing but a liability to the family. At the time, he'd even thought himself a liability to the world. He was a healthy young man, intelligent, and had a lot to offer the world but when blindness hit him after the accident, he felt useless... Like a wasted entity and the people he'd considered family always remind him of what he is and the zero respect he commands in the family. Standing up, he gave a long strength, he could hear his bone making some cracking sound. "Go
Jonas looked at Aidan, he smiled at him, he knew his mind must be raising different questions for him. His grandfather had given him the right to choose what he wants, to decide his future..... Although Mr. Kal won't force his decision on Aiden, Jonas knew it would break his boss's heart if Aidan decided to go away from him. His boss had been in pain and regret when his daughter died, he'd witnessed Mr. Kal whip like a baby, cursing himself for his inability to save his daughter despite having so much power. Jonas knew Aidan would make a great choice, the young man is already burning with the fire of vengeance and he'd always craved for a family to call his. Aidan suddenly came to a halt, trying to control his fast-beating heart. The kind of tension he's having now is new, even back in school when he was having the most difficult exams or seating for a scholarship, he'd been composed but he just can't figure out why his heart is beating so fast, creating dizziness for him. A tho
"What do you want to speak to me about Jonas?" Aidan asked as they walked through the very large garden in the mansion. Jonas had been silent ever since they left the secret room, Aidan chose to remain quiet and wait for Jonas to speak up, but as usual, the man was slow...just the way he was in the dining room. It requires a lot of patience to deal with Jonas. Aidan is a patient man, he was always commended for that back at the university but he seems to lose his patience when Jonas is concerned.Jonas had hit his limit point when it comes to patience."Isn't it a beautiful morning huh?" Jonas asked, squatting to admire a wild rose. Ok. Now, what has the morning got to do with what they want to talk about. Aidan sighed, the saying 'Hit the nail on the head' isn't for Jonas, he's never specific about a particular topic, he likes beating around the bush. "Uhmmm..yeah," Aidan answered, clearly not interested in the beautiful morning Jonas was talking about."Do you love flowers?" Jo
"Welcome A.K., how was your day?" Eva's voice greeted him as he entered his room. Oh yeah, he had a wife and that's Eva, the bot is acting like one... A responsible one. "My day was exploring. I took my time to explore some of the mansion so I won't get lost again, I almost got lost this morning." He replied."Hard luck, you should have asked for directions. I have the data of everything and everyone here." It explained. There was a knock on his door, Eva displayed the person on a screen Aidan didn't know existed before now, it was right on the door. "Cora Jonas is here to see you, should I let her in?" Eva announced. "Yes please, let her in." Aidan wondered what she was doing in his room, it was not yet time for the dance fight, it was just past seven in the evening.Mr. Kal hasn't returned from his medical check-up, so lunch and dinner were quick ones. Jonas had shown him around the house till he decided to come prepared for the evening.Cora walked in elegantly, dropping a ba
"Hello, Aidan" Mr. Kal's voice interrupted his thoughts. Aidan turned around swiftly to meet both Mr. Kal and Jonas. They were both heading towards him, "are you sure you wanna have a dance fight with Cora? She rocks at it and from my observations on you over the years, you showed no interest in dance fighting." Jonas asked him, a little bit worried."Let the boy be. There's always a first time for everything." Mr. Kal said and grabbed Jonas by the hand.Aidan feigned a smile, his mind occupied by something else. It was his granddaughter, the man had told him he was dying. Though he was looking frail when he saw him the first time, he seems to be getting better every second. The thought of losing his grandfather didn't sit well with him, some part of him still hasn't accepted the man but he feels super lucky to find his family in this lifetime of his. It's like a pure miracle to him. "Hey, don't think too much, just try your best and punch her hard, don't be deceived by her petit
