After the combat class Flora, along with Susan and Akiri took David to the library, the final destination of David’s tour around the academy.
“Wow” said David upon seeing the massive tree size shelves filled with hundreds of thousands of books.
“That’s a lot of books” said David as he had never before seen so many books gathered in one place.
“Yeah, everything about the long history of the dragon warrior from the late Elementary wars to present day has been carefully recorded and stored in these books” said Akiri.
“Elementary Wars?” asked David wondering what the later Elementary Wars were.
Akiri was about to answer David but Flora stopped him, knowing that if Akiri started talking they would be stuck in the library all day listening to Akiri’s history lesson about the Elementary wars.
“No need Akiri, heaven only knows I can’t take another one of your long and boring lectures. David, the Elementary wars was a war that happened thousands of years ago, back then the dragon warriors were divided and would fight one another to proof their supremacy. The great Elementary wars were the product of that division,” said Flora.
“Wow” said David with a saddened tone, unable to believe that there was a time when dragon warriors were divided.
“Yeah, it is one of the darker parts of our history as dragon warriors, a part we sadly can’t change,” said Susan.
“How did the war end?” asked David, curious to know how a great war like the Elementary war ended.
“The Golden Dragon Warrior of the time, Tonyi ended the war and brought about the age of peace and unity between all dragon warriors” said Akiri.
“Yeah, a Golden Dragon Warrior has always been there to protect us from all dangers, even from ourselves but now that the golden dragon warrior is gone, I fear…” Flora with her head bowed down with fear and uncertainty stopped herself from completing her sentence.
Susan and Akiri, similar to Flora had a look of fear and uncertainty on their faces.
David upon seeing the sad and fearful look on Flora, Susan and Akiri’s face thought about the golden dragon warrior, wondering how a single dragon warrior could create a sense of hope in the hearts of so many other dragon warriors and now that the golden dragon warrior was gone the hope, she gave the dragon warriors was slowly fading away.
“Hey, there is no need to be so sad, the world is still here, isn’t it, the Golden Dragon Warrior may have been there to protect the dragon warriors in the past but just because she is gone doesn’t mean we all have to lose hope,” said David.
The David’s kind words made Akiri, Susan and Flora smile with a little bit of hope in their hearts for the uncertain future with the golden dragon warrior there to guide and protect them.
Flora and the other spent some time in the library showing David around, Akiri spent most of the time telling David facts about the academy which greatly annoyed Flora as he couldn’t stop talking the moment he began.
After that they all left the library and then escorted David back to his room.
“Thanks Flora, for showing me around,” said David.
“I didn’t have much of a choice in the matter but I’m glad I did” said Flora with a smile on her face.
“It was nice meeting you David, you’re pretty strong for an air dragon warrior” said Akiri to David.
“Hey” said Flora; feeling offended by what Akiri said which implied that air dragon warriors were weak.
“Come on Flora, don’t be like that. You know what I meant” said Akiri to calm Flora down.
Flora though, just got even more upset.
“Just because you earth dragon warriors possess incredible strength doesn’t mean that all other dragon warriors are weaklings,” said Flora.
“No, I didn’t mean it like that” said Akiri.
“Really then what did you mean, that only wind dragon warriors are weak,” said Flora.
“What? Of course, not” said Akiri.
Seeing Flora and Akiri bicker among themselves made Susan and David to laugh begin to laugh.
David and Susan then turned to face each other.
“I’m glad to have met someone like you, not many students would have dared to do what you did for Flora” said Susan with a smile that made David’s heart to melt.
“It’s not that big of a deal” said David while scratching his head and blushing a little.
“Flora” said Akiri chasing after Flora who just stormed off, red with rage and anger.
“I should probably go after them, there is no way Akiri can handle Flora alone,” said Susan.
“Yeah” said David with a playful smile.
“I guess I’ll see you around David” said Susan before leaving, chasing after Akiri and Flora.
“Yeah, I guess you will” said David with a small smile on his face.
David then went in to his room and lied down on the bed.
The day had been exhausting and extremely tiring but even though David was felt tired and exhausted he couldn’t help but smile.
Not only had he gotten a chase to see a part of the world beyond the small village where he lived with Abari but he had also made a few new friends.
Happy thoughts filled David head as he thought about everything that had happened that day but those happy thought soon ended once David realized something horrible.
David thought back to what the Head master told him; he just given a chance to prove himself worthy of being a student of the Dragon Academy by the Head master, and technically he wasn’t a student, at least not yet.
David then thought about how if he wasn’t worthy of being a student in the academy he would have to leave.
The thought of leaving the academy scared and frightened greatly.
In just a day David had grown at attached to the academy and the people in it, mostly Akiri, Flora and Susan who he now considered his friends.
David didn’t want to leave but he feared that if the Head master didn’t find any worth for him within the academy walls he would have to leave.
David’s train of thought came to an end upon hearing a knock on the door.
He then went to the door and then opened it to see who was knocking.
Upon opening the door David saw none other than Flani.
David upon seeing her froze up in fear and shock as he wondered why she was standing by his door.
“Come with me” said Flani.
David, still in his fearful and confused state did what she said, following her as they began to roam about through the hallway.
David wondered where she was leading him too before realizing that the direction, they were following lead to the Head master’s office.
David then realized that it was time for his evaluation by the Head master to determine if he was indeed worthy to be student of the academy.
As they approached the Head master’s offices the office doors opened up and then Flora stepped of it.
David was a bit shocked to see her and wondered what she was doing in the Head master’s office.
Flora upon seeing David smiled at him before saying, “good luck David” and then leaving.
David upon hearing what Flora said became even more confused as he desperately tried to understand what was going on.
“Come on” said Flani as she led him in to the Head master’s office.
Once in David saw the Head master seated eagerly waiting for him.
“Hello, David, please take a seat” said the Head master.
David upon hearing what the Head master said felt his heart begin race uncontrollably, feeling immensely nervous as he knew his fate with the academy was about to be decided.
“You may leave Flani” said Head master.
Flani then left but before leaving she glanced at David with a smirk on her face which David, upon seeing it, felt even more nervous than before.
Once Flani was gone David and the Head master were left alone in the office.
There was a still silence between them which made David feel uneasy.
Finally, the Head master spoke, ending the silence between them, “how was your first day in the academy?”
David upon hearing what the Head master said spoke with a nervous smile, saying, “It was quite alright sir”.
The Head master then smiled upon hearing what David said.
“Simple and lacking the knowledge of the most basic of things, those were the words Flora used to describe you” said the Head master.
David upon hearing what the Head master said looked back at the Head master with a look of shock and confusion.
“You seemed shocked David, did you not know that Flora was assigned both to show you around the academy and observe you?” asked the Head master.
David then bowed his head with sadness in his heart before saying, “no, I didn’t sir”.
As he spoke David wondered why Flora would call him simple and say that he lacked knowledge in the most basic of things.
He then thought back to the time he spent with her all the classes they had attended together, and then realized that she was right, he was simple and didn’t really know much about anything.
David upon realizing that felt a great wave of shame and sadness feeling that because of his simplicity and lack of knowledge he was would be deemed at unworthy to study in the academy.
The Head master upon seeing the sad look on David face smiled before saying, “never in all my years have I seen a dragon warrior like you, a dragon warrior who can’t even summon his very own dragon, a skill all dragon warriors know how to do from birth”.
David upon hearing what the Head master said felt even more shame within himself.
“And you yet, despite all your short comings you still manage to possess more potential than any order student within the walls of the academy” said the Head master.
David’s eyes widened with shock upon hearing what the Head master said about him having more potential than any other students within the academy.
“Yes, it is true that Flora told me about all your less admirable qualities but she also told me about all the incredible things you did and only in your first day in academy no less. You created a ball of air that engulfed the peak of an entire mountain peak, defended Flora, a person you had only just met and won a fight without using your elemental powers” said the Head master with an impressed look on his face.
“In all those actions, you exhibited all the qualities of a great dragon warrior, power, bravery, strength and determination. It is because of these qualities I see no reason why you shouldn’t be a student of the academy” said the Head master.
David upon hearing what the Head master said could help smile out of happiness, excitement and relief that he was qualified to be a student in the dragon academy.
“I’ve already sent a message to Binaru, informing him about your enrollment in to the academy” said the Head master.
“Thank you, sir” said David, still smiling out of excitement.
“Don’t thank me, you like all the other students of the academy deserve to be students her and with that said David, you may take your leave” said the Head master.
“Alright” said David as he got up and made his way to the door.
David was about to leave but before he could David thought about something that had been bother him about the academy for a while now and so decided to ask the Head master before he leaves.
David then turned to the Head master and then spoke gently and politely “Sir, before I go can I ask you something?”
“Yes, you may” replied the Head master.
“I understand why students of the academy need to learn more about their history as dragon warriors and how to use their powers but why do they need to know how to fight” asked David still failing to understand why the students of the academy needed to know her to fight.
The Head master upon hearing what David said sighed deeply before saying, “Look out at the window”.
David then went to the window and look out through it.
“What do you see David?” asked the Head master.
“Trees, mountains, a few rivers and lakes” said David as he looked out the window, seeing the majestic forest stood beyond the academy.
“And what do you see beyond those trees, mountains, rivers and lakes” asked the Head master.
“Nothing, I can’t see that far,” said David.
“Precisely, you can’t see and thus you don’t know” said the Head master with a deep sigh.
“The world that lies beyond the trees, mountains, rivers and lakes, is chaotic and unpredictable. The world which you can’t see brings death and destruction to those who aren’t ready for it” said the Head master.
As David heard what the Head master said a frightening and horrific image of the world his head, he couldn’t clearly make out what it was but he could sense all the characteristics used by the Head master to describe the outside world with the image; death, destruction and a final one that the Head master failed to mention, darkness, and what frightened David most about the image in his mind was that it felt familiar to him, almost as though he knew and had seen it all.
“I will not lie to you child; a storm is coming for all of us. In the past we would rely on the power of the golden dragon warrior to protect us but she’s gone so we have no choice but to protect ourselves” said the Head master.
David upon hearing what the Head master said, turned to him, a bit confused and unable to understand what he meant when he said a storm was coming for all of them but his lack of understanding didn’t make not to fear as the idea of something coming for all of them fill the young boy’s heart with immense fear.
The Head master could see a mix of confusion and fear in David’s eyes as he spoke and upon seeing it decided to end the conversion, not having the heart to explain to David what he meant.
“I’ve spoken enough about this matter, go rest, from what I’ve been told you need if after the long and hectic day you’ve had” said Head master.
David upon hearing what the Head master said just smiled weakly before leaving, sensing that there was something the Head master didn’t want to tell him but refused to ask as he wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to know.
It was lunch time and David made his way to the dining room where all the other students went to have their lunch. Once there David was greeted by Flora, calling out to him and inviting him to seat with her alone with, Susan and Akiri on their table. David smiled upon seeing them and then went to seat with them. “How was your meeting with the Head master?” asked Flora with a playful smile on his face. “Stressful and I can’t believe you described me as a simple idiot to the Head master” said David, still a bit offended about how Flora described him to the Head master. “You actually did that Flora, that’s cold even for you” said Akiri shocked upon hearing what Flora said about David. “Hey, I never called you an idiot, I simply state that you lack basic knowledge which you do but it’s not like that’s the only thing I said about you,” said Flora. “Yeah, I guess you’re right” said David with a playful smile at Flora. “Why did the Head master want to see you anyway?” asked Susan a b
David roamed through the academy halls before finally reaching his destination, the Head master’s office. He could hear the Head master reprimanding Steven from within the office, saying her disappointed his parents would be with him upon hearing what he did.Steven remained silent, uttering no words and just allowing the Head master to continue, he was used to hearing the Head master and so many others in the academy talking about how much of a disappointment he was, it wasn’t new information to him.Steven still felt a great deal of sadness and regretted over his actions to so degree, he didn’t regret what he did to David because in his mind he deserved everything that happened and then some.Steven wanted nothing more than to hurt David for daring to say he was shocked to hear that his, Akiri’s and Flora’s parents were the Golden Dragon Generals because in his mind he was judge them all, seeing them as to weak to be the children of the Golden Dragon Generals, and if there anything
David made his way back to his room.He tried opening the door with his arm only to wince in pain upon touching the door’s handle. It turned out that the hand he used to touch the door was the same hand Steven burnt when he shook David.David just looked at his burnt hand and sighed before opening the door with his other hand.He went to his room and immediately collapsed on his bed, worn out and tired because of everything he had gone through in just his first day of school.David then began to think about how he managed to make three friends (Akiri, Flora and Susan) and apparently one enemy (Steven).David sighed as he began to think about Steven, wondering what his problem was, he had saved him from being expelled from the academy and instead of being grateful to him Steven’s anger towards him only grew more.David didn’t know what to do.He didn’t want to have Steven as an enemy; he didn’t want to even have an enemy in general. He was raised and taught by Abari to be friendly and
David, in his air form blew out of the academy, reforming outside the academy gates and hoping nobody would see or noticed he was gone he ran in the forest, headed straight for the Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior. Araban arose from his slumber, sensing something in the air that woke him up. Araban then got up from his bed and upon doing so, Steven who was still awake, lying on the fall turned to him. “Why are you here, old man?” asked Steven. “One of the students has left the safety of the academy. I have to retrieve them” said Araban. “How do you know?” asked Steven. “The wind told me and it never lies” said Araban as he got up. “Get up” said Araban. “What?” said Steven upon hearing Araban asking him to get up? “You’re coming with me, to help me catch the student” said Araban. “What? Why?” asked Steven, not wanting to follow Araban to forest so late at night. “Because I said so, now get up” said Araban with a strict voice and an ice-cold glare. Steven upon seeing Arab
David woke up the next day and saw that he was in a strange room, lying down on a bed. “Where am I?” David asked himself while looking around, trying to figure out where he was. “You’re in the academy’s infirmary,” said a voice. David then turned around and saw a woman standing not too far away from him. “I’m Boma, the academy’s healer,” said the woman. “What happened, why am I here?” said David. “You are here because Araban found you after hearing an explosion come from the Temple of The Golden Dragon Warrior. And as for why you’re here, well nobody can answer that but you” said Boma. David then took breath before he began to remember what happened the other night. He remembered going to the temple and touching its door, after that he remembered feeling a strange power flow through his entire body but everything after that was blurry and unclear. Boma then quickly examined David’s body to see if he was alright. “Well, nothing seems to be broken. It seems like whatever happe
Night soon came to the academy and it was time for dinner and so David made his way to the dining room and sat down on his usual seat, on a table alongside Akiri, Flora and Susan. “Are you okay, Akiri told us you weren’t feeling fine today” asked Flora. David seeing the worry and concern in their eyes for him, he was happy to see that even though he had not been in the academy for that long he already had friends who cared so much for him. “I’m fine, I’ve just been feeling a little under the weather that’s all” said David with a smile to reassure her and the others that there was nothing to worry about. David’s smile brought a sense of ease to the minds of Flora and Akiri but Susan could shake the feeling that he was hiding something. “Come on guys, let’s eat. I’m starving” said Akiri. “You’re always hungry, seriously where does all the food go” asked Flora, wondering how Akiri can eat a meal fit for ten men and still remain so thin. “My stomach” said Akiri jokingly, causing Dav
Susan could not sleep as her mind was filled with thoughts of David, wondering what he was hiding and why he refused to share it with her and others. Susan now stood in front of the window, internally asking herself one question, “What was David hiding”. She sighed deeply, as she was unable to answers her question but upon doing so something caught her eyes from outside the window. Her eyes had caught a strange figure seemly appear out of thin standing in front of the front gate. Upon looking at the figure more closely, thanks to beautiful moon and its rays alone with that many stars that lit up the night sky, Susan managed to see the figure’s face and upon doing so she gasped out confusion and shock. It was David and upon seeing him Susan’s suspicions about David being in some kind of trouble only grew. Susan then saw David something that shocked her even more, using what seemed to be the elemental power of the earth he created a hole on the ground he stood on and then fell in.
Steven had just reached Araban’s house. Steven, not wanting to say a word to Araban just grabbed the blanket Araban gave him and used it to lie on the floor. Araban didn’t even seem to notice Steven’s presence as he laid on his with his eyes wide open which made Steven feel incredibly uneasy. Steven tried his best to sleep but his mind was filled with thoughts about David and what he was doing next to the temple so late at night. Steven tried his best to ignore his mind and the thought about David that filled it and tried to have a good night sleep but each and every time he closed his eyes shut and tried to sleep all he saw David as thoughts of him clouded his mind and forced him to open up his eyes. Steven now annoyed with his thoughts, got up and then walked towards to the door, wanting to leave the house and get some fresh air, hoping that doing that would ease his mind enough for him to get some sleep but just as he was about to reach the door a burst of wind blew out of kno
