Chapter 7

David and Binaru flew through the skies, above the clouds on fire dragon’s back.

As the rode David looked down to see the magnificent fields, hills, valleys and rivers below where creatures of all kind lived, like the green antelope with fur as green as the grass it grazed upon and antlers that resembled the wooden branches of a tree or the serpent, a snake like creature that lived the rivers below that had the ability spew out massive jets of water out of its mouth.

David then looked up to sky above his head and saw colorful birds called rainbow canaries who sang melodious as they flew passed them.

David could not believe how incredible and mystical the world as never before seen such breath taking, beautiful and mystifying lands before.

The sun soon began to slowly disappear and the darkness of the night began to consume everything.

David and Binaru had been riding the dragon throughout the entire day and as night began to all Binaru knew he had to land the dragon so they could rest for the night.

Binaru landed his dragon on the forest floor below.

Once there David and Binaru got off the dragon and the very moment they did so the dragon disappeared.

Binaru then brought out the bag filled with food Abari gave him.

“Are you hungry David?” asked Binaru.

David heard his stomach growl and then nodded his, feeling immensely hungry as he hadn’t eaten anything since, they left.

“Here” said Binaru as he gave David some of the food in the bag.

The both of the shared the food in the bag and once their bellies were filled up with food David and Binaru laid down on the grass covered forest floor watching the beautiful night sky with the beautiful shimmering stars that shined through the darkness of night.

Binaru decided to tell David stories about the things he faced as a Golden Dragon Guard, making sure the tales he told were not too dark as he didn’t want to fill David’s mind up with fear.

As he told his tale David felt captivated, painting a picture in his mind about each and every tale told, seeing the story come to live almost as though he witnessed it himself, he greatly enjoyed each and every tale told.

“Come Binaru, just one more” David begged Binaru to continue to tell his stories.

Binaru, exhausted and tired didn’t have the strength to continue, all he wanted to do at that very moment was close his eyes and drift away to sleep.

“I’m sorry David…” Binaru yawned out of exhaustion before he could even complete his sentence.

“But I’m so tired, maybe some other time. I need to sleep and so do you, you have a big day tomorrow” said Binaru.

David sighed, disappointed that Binaru had refused to continue telling his stories.

“Come on David, time to slee…p” said Binaru before drifting away to sleep.

David upon seeing that Binaru was now fast sleep decided not to disturb him while he slept and just focused all his attention on the stars in the sky above his head.

David stared at the stars for some time before slowly drifting away to sleep.

In his dreams, David found himself once again, surrounded by dragon warriors, and their leader, the fire dragon warrior, who stood before him and told him that he had to come with him.

David, like before refused the fire dragon warrior causing him to grab David’s arm by the arm.

David’s eyes and voice like his other dream had turned violet in color and grown deeper.

And the flash of light came engulfing everything for a brief moment before clearing away to reveal a horrific sight.

Similar to his other dream, David saw himself surround by piles of dead body, the fire dragon warrior looking at him with a rage filled look on his face while holding his wounded face before summoning his dragon and riding away.

The darkness then came and consumed everything and David once again found himself in the void of darkness.

He found the cell where the strange violet creature was imprisoned in with it screaming repeatedly with a its deep voice, “Let me out” before grabbing David with its two arms, saying one last time, “Let me OUT!!!!!!!”.

David then woke, cover in sweat and breathing heavily.

David soon calmed down and stopped breathing heavily, swiping the sweat of his face and then he began to think about the dream he had.

David began to wonder what it meant and why he continued to have that same dream, he also wondered who were those strange dragon warriors that surrounded him, why were they after him and what happened during the period when the lights flashed killed so many of them and wounded the fire dragon warrior that led them.

Out of all the questions David asked himself biggest and most confusing one to him was the question of just what was the creature he saw imprisoned in the void of darkness?

David could no long fall asleep with so many unanswered questions and thought in his mind.

It was still night and Binaru was fast asleep.

David not wishing to disturb Binaru wide he slept decided to go walk through the forest to help clear his mind.

David roamed about through the forest, not wondering to far from the place where Binaru was busy sleeping; as he walked through the forest, he found a small river.

David then went to the river and then stood in front of it, staring at his reflection that shined immensely underneath the moon light.

As David stared at his reflection he thought about his dream and the imprisoned created he saw and as he did, he saw his reflection change in to the prison where the creature from his dreams was trapped.

David, though filled with confusion, shock and fear upon seeing his reflection change curiously went closer to the river to see the prison in the water more clearly.

Once he was close to the river, he saw a pair of violet glowing eyes emerge from within the prison and the he heard voice scream out loudly with a voice like a roaring dragon, “LET ME OUT!!!!!!!!!”

David upon hearing the voice was filled with so much fear that he stumbled and fell down to the ground.

Panting and breathing heavily out of pure fear David mustered the courage to get up and go back to the river and stare at the prison only this time when he did so the prison was gone and only his reflection remained.

“What is going on with me? First it was my dreams and now I’m seeing things, I must be losing my mind” David said to himself wondering why he was starting see creature in the prison even when he was awake.

“I need to get some rest, it’s probably nothing. I’m just a little shaken up from the nightmare I just had” David said to himself as he remembered the horrible nightmare he just had.

“It was just a dream, I shouldn’t think too much about it, like Abari always says a dream is just a dream and should not be taken as anything serious” said David, telling his that it was just a dream, and tying to ignore the feeling deep within that told him otherwise.

David then heard the sounds of something roaming the forest, it didn’t sound like a friendly creature and upon hearing it David decided it would be best if he left and returned back to Binaru who was still fast asleep.

As David wondered through the forest on his way back to Binaru he sensed something, hidden by the thick trees that surrounded him, slowly making creeping around, making its way to him, almost as though he was being haunted.

David, upon sensing something hidden in the forest following him ran, as fast as he could, filled with nothing but fear.

As ran he heard what sounded massive footsteps stumping about in the forest like a massive beast of some kind charging straight after him.

David, upon hearing does footsteps ran even fast, using the power of the wind to push him further and further as he ran.

David ran at incredible speeds with the wind pushing him further and further with each step he took, driven solely by fear he ran as fast as he could.

David, racing through the forest at tremendous speeds almost made it to Binaru, knowing that he would be able to protect him from whatever it was that was chasing after him but before he could reach there he tripped on a small branch on the floor and then fell down.

David who was now on the floor heard a massive roar unlike anything he had ever seen before and then a monstrous creature emerged.

With massive feet razor clawed feet and a mouth filled with teeth sharp enough to tire apart flesh and strong enough to crush bones to dust the creature made its way to David, shaking ground with each step it took.

As the monster approached him David began to see flashes of the dream he had.

He saw the dragon warriors that surrounded and the fire dragon warrior that led them all standing in front of him.

The fire dragon warrior then once again told David to come with them and he refused causing the fire dragon warrior to grab hold of David’s arm to force him to come with them.

Then like just like his dream David’s voice changed and his eyes glowed with violet light, then the flash appeared but this time with light disappeared David found himself with his dream.

He then heard a roar that sound like that of a ferocious dragon.

David then turned around and saw with horror in his eyes none other than himself, surrounded by piles of dead bodies with his eyes glowing with violet light.

“JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!” David heard himself speak with a voice so deep it shook the earth and as he spoke a violet light made out of pure dark energy flew out of his mouth.

The light was about to hit before it could David saw a fire ball that seemed to have come out of nowhere and upon seeing the fire ball David snapped out of his dream world and back in to reality.

The fire that David saw then struck the beast the stood mere inches away from him about to attack him with its claws.

Flames caused the beast to scream out in pain with loud roar before running in to the forest.

David then heard someone approach him.

He then got up and saw Binaru who looked at his with a look of pure anger.

“What on earth were you thinking David; it’s dangerous to be out here alone. This forest isn’t like the one you are used to, here they are creature who wouldn’t think twice before having you for a late-night snack” said Binaru.

“I’m sorry,” said David.

“SORRY!!!!!!!!, you could have been killed, if I didn’t wake up upon hearing that monster’s roar and then come to save you, you would have probably been in that monster’s stomach” said Binaru, furious with David for wondering alone in the forest so late at night.

“I know but I just need to go for a walk to clear my head” said David before sitting down on the ground and the bowed his down to the, feeling bad for leaving Binaru and going for a walk alone.

Binaru upon seeing the look of sadness on David’s calmed down and the rage he felt subsided.

Binaru then sighed before sitting down on the floor next to David.

“I’m sorry for yelling at you but what you did was dangerous, if I didn’t come on time, you would have been...*sigh* I just don’t want to have to be the one to go to Abari and tell her your gone and never coming back” said Binaru.

“I understand but I just needed to clear my head and going for walk seemed like a good idea at the time” said David with a deep sighed before he began to think about the horrible things he saw in his dream.

Binaru, seeing the troubled look on David’s face asked, “Are you alright David”.

“No, I had a nightmare, that’s why I left. I needed to clear mind but I kept seeing things, horrible things from my nightmares” said David with tears falling down from his eyes as he spoke, feeling a strange mix of fear and sadness.

Binaru just sighed before going to David and saying, “I think I understand what’s going on with you David”.

“Really, you do? What is it?” asked David, desperate to know why he was seeing things and having so many nightmares.

“You are home sick” said Binaru.

“What?” said David confused.

“It’s simple you haven’t been away from your home and Abari before and because of that you feel scared, that’s why you are having nightmares and seeing things” said Binaru.

“No, it’s not that. The nightmare I had felt real, like it actually happened” said David, remembering everything he saw in his dream and how it felt too real to be just an ordinary dream.

“Alright then, what was your nightmare about?” asked Binaru.

David upon hearing what Binaru said remained silent for a few brief moments, thinking about whether or not he should tell Binaru about his nightmare.

David, after thinking about it decided not to tell Binaru, thinking it would be best to keep to himself as he feared that the things, he saw in his dream were too dark and grim to tell anyone even a member of the Golden Dragon Guard.

“It was nothing, actually now that I think about it, you’re probably right, maybe I had that nightmare because I missed home and Abari,” said David.

“You see; I knew your nightmare was caused because you missed home. Don’t worry, you are still young and with time you get used to being away from home” said Binaru.

Binaru then got up and then said, “come on, we should leave this place incase that monster decides to come back”.

David smiled slightly at Binaru before he got up.

He and Binaru then left, returning to the place where they landed.

Once there Binaru lied down on the grass covered floor and immediately fell asleep.

David stayed awake, thinking about the nightmare he had and the things he saw, trying desperately to make sense of it all but try as he may he could not seem to make sense of any of it.

David just sighed, hoping that the nightmare he had was just a dream and this he saw was just his tired mind playing tricks on him even deep down he knew that was not the case.

David then lied down on the floor to sleep; hoping when he closes his eyes and drifts away to his dream world, he would not see the same horrible nightmare.

Once David was fast asleep, he had a dream but it wasn’t like one he had before, in this one he saw bits and pieces of memories of the past he could quite remember.

In the dream he heard voices and saw unclear faces, some of the voices he heard were screaming out in pain and agony from people whose faces he could not see clearly, others sounded peaceful likes the sound of laughter and a softly voice speaking gentle that also came from unclear faces.

But there was one voice in particular was the only thing David was focused on, the only voice he could hear clearly out of all the voices, a soft and gentle voice saying “I’ll come back for you, I promise”.

David upon hearing the voice focused heard on that memory, wanting nothing more than to see the face of the woman who said those words.

But as he tried his best to remember the face of the woman that spoke a cloud of darkness began to slowly creep in, consuming everything around him.

The more David focused on the memory the more the face became clearer but as he was about to see the face clearly and maybe then find who the woman was and what she meant to him but before the face could be clear enough for David to see the cloud of darkness consumed it.

“NO!!!!!!” screamed David as he woke up from his dream, breathing heavily with a look of frustration on his face.

He was finally about to see the woman’s face after so many years wondering who she was and then darkness came and stopped him from seeing it.

It was now morning and the sun was shine beautiful above the blue sky.

“Did you have another nightmare, David?” asked Binaru who had woken up before David and waited for David to wake up so that they could continue their journey.

“I don’t want to talk about it” said David, not wanting to talk about the dream he had as it greatly annoyed and enraged him.

Binaru, seeing the frustrated and enraged look on his face decided to respect David wishes not to talk about the dream he had, thinking that it must have been another nightmare created by his sadness from being away from his home.

“Come on, we still have a long way ahead of us” said Binaru before he summoned his dragon and got on his back.

David then joined him, getting on the dragon and then riding away.
