The Death Flower-Higanbana

Ruthven could understand the other stats that were extremely high, but he still didn't understand one thing, and that was his age. Not even a year had passed Since he was in the war, but his age had already increased by 85 years.

"Man, am I that old?" Ruthven/Rin was an {Astral Soul} so it was understandable if his soul was over a thousand years old, but what got Rin worried was that his body, Ruthven, was the one who was now over a thousand years old.

Ruthven/Rin moved about the now chaotic safe zone in deep thought, and that's when he finally came to realize that his clothes and hair were all messed up.

" How long do I have to wait till I can wash my hair?" Ruthven pouted as he asked that question.

--<[Notice] The System has given you a chance to prepare your face, Clothes as well as Hair due to appearances playing an important role in the next Quest>---

What the system had said was important as it would involve the mission, but Ruthven didn't pay attention to it as he only Heard the chance to prepare his clothes, Hair, and face.

While in excitement He soon shouted "Options!" those words had come naturally as if he knew what had to be done

---<.....>--

The system was in awe of Ruthven who had been affected by the souls of Pride and Lust, The ones that took looks seriously.

---

---

With the words of confirmation, The system showed many options regarding what could be done with Ruthven's hair.

Soon time passed and after a lot of scrolling, Ruthven still couldn't find what he needed, that was until the last Option was shown. While smiling happily Ruthven quickly pressed the option before him.

That's when his hair started to be miraculously cut by an unknown force till the moment his hair could reach his shoulders and was tied into a ponytail position.

The face Preparations that were shown didn't involve changing one's face to something new, it only involved changing certain features of his face.

Ruthven first went to the option that involved his eyes brows. He then proceeds to choose something that fit his preference.

From the option Ruthven had picked, His eyebrows began to be trimmed to the point where it gave him a calm yet fierce look.

After the alteration of his Hair and some other small features on his face were complete, Ruthven then moved on to the eye option that had been Locked.

---<[Notice] The system has deemed that the host's eyes are unique, due to this it is impossible to change them.>---

"*Sigh* I saw that one coming." Ruthven knew it too, His eyes had changed, It was as if they had abilities imbued within them.

The way his gaze would release wind pressure or the ways his eyes were feared as he was battling in the War.

"What a bummer, I wanted to change them." As Ruthven was feeling down about how his eyes couldn't be changed, an idea came to him.

What if he treated his eyes as light switches and their abilities as Lights.

"Well, I could give it a try." He said as he slowly began to blink and his eyes turned Black the moment he opened them again. That's when he realized that their abilities were locked off.

The moment of victory Ruthven got after this didn't last long as the chaotic atmosphere of the Bloodlands entered his eyes.

Extreme pain followed after as bloody tears started to flow out from his eyes to the point where he even tried to gauge them out..."Make it Stop! Make it Stop!" His screams quickly affected the safe zone.

Every scream that came out from his mouth was enough to materialize thick red fog that was slowly turning the Bloodlands into a chaos lane.

With the events happening before him, Ruthven quickly came to terms with that the Bloodlands, or God's Abode as the system calls it, was related to his mental state, but he didn't have time to properly prove it as he was in the midst of pain.

---<...>---

The system quietly observed the situation as it had found it interesting, but at the same time, Ruthven was going through another trial in his head.

-----

Slowly opening his eyes in an unknown location, Ruthven found himself standing on a completely dark liquid-like surface ..."What the hell is this?" He asked as he slowly lifted his feet one by one checking if there was something underneath them only to find out there was nothing.

After moving and looking around for a while, Ruthven found nothing in the unknown location he had found himself in, that was until he saw something out in the distance, a red spider lily or as it was known in Japan... The Higanbana - The death Flower, slowly sprouted from the dark surface.

Realizing what he saw, Ruthven's expression became unexplainable as he felt death nearing him..." Hey... Hey...Hey..Hey, Your kidding right?" were his words as he quickly turned away from it in an attempt to run away.

But The direction he was now on started to become a death zone as more Flowers grew, and In haste to back up from them, Ruthven fell on his butt..."Why?.... Why?...why? "

There was a reason why Ruthven was in fear of the flower because It was said in Japanese mythology that where the floor grew, be it a village, town, or city.... blood shall fill the place as the flower was death's call. This meant that wherever the flower grew, People would die.

Soon thousands of flowers would grow on the dark surface, and Ruthven was left without a place to run to, and when all that could be seen was nothing but red flowers, they all began to bloom.

One by one they all bloomed till all that was seen was a light red surface disturbed by a hint of black that was Ruthven.

Not much time passed before samurais in dark red armor started emerging from the flowers.

Ruthven silently watched in fear as thousands of samurais flooded his vision. He was now surrounded by an army of samurais.

Ruthven who recently went against two armies numbering hundreds of thousands was strangely afraid. The fear he was feeling was normal as it was instinctive.

Ruthven whose ass was flat against the ground, waited in of the samurai's attacks, but strangely enough, they never moved as if they were waiting for something.

Though unsure why, Ruthven thought that the Samurais wouldn't attack. This wasn't something he was completely unsure about, but he soon tried standing, and when he had fully stood up... The samurais began to draw their Katanas.

"Hey Hey Hey hey! I don't wanna fight... okay?" Ruthven raised his hands as a sign that he surrendered, but his surrender was futile.

One by One the thousands of samurais charged as they attacked Ruthven.

Unable to stop any of their attacks, Ruthven's body parts would be cut off or continuously stabbed, but even if Ruthven was in a lot of pain, he still found it strange that none of the attacks were ever aimed at his heart or head.

Also, the attacks didn't only affect him in the Mind realm, It had also affected him in the Chaos lanes as well.

Every slash or cut he got in the Mind Realm had affected him in the Chaos lane

As the system took action, every time Ruthven lost an arm or a leg, The system would quickly reattach or heal the wounded area.

Soon days had already started to pass and Ruthven was going through torture like this every minute of the day, and after a month the samurais halted their attacks.

Ruthven was left in a state where his eyes were completely bloodshot from the pain he had experienced, his eyes also had an emotionless feeling to them as if Ruthven had already died.

With an emotionless look on his face, Ruthven floated above his ocean of blood, and soon the samurais that had been surrounding him started to disappear turning into the higanbana flowers that soon flew into his eyes.

Soon all the flowers were absorbed by Ruthven's eyes.

His eyes Changed into a crimson red color and had a spider lily Pattern in them, and with this the mind realm's objective was complete and Ruthven would return to The Chaos lane.

Laying down under the chaos tree was where Ruthven had found himself.

were the first words Ruthven heard in a while.

A faint smile soon grew on his face as he said "Strangely enough, I missed you."

The response given by Ruthven was something not expected, and the system not knowing how to respond brought back The Options panel where they had left off.

Thinking that the system was blushing, Ruthven gently smiled at the panel before him..." Right! let's see what you've got for me."

Ruthven then began to scroll down on the panel before him before proceeding to choose a Red and White Suit with the long jacket being white of course.

As Ruthven finished choosing his clothes, the system popped up once telling him that battle clothing will be needed.

"Huh is that so?.... Since when has the system been so generous?"

Ruthven once more began to browse through the Options panel, but nothing suited his preference, that's when he remembered Japan.

" System is it possible to make the suit change into a battle uniform as well?" was what Ruthven said as his words rendered the system speechless.

"Great, Then I'll take that." He said as he gave a thumbs up

Hearing those words, Ruthven slowly breathed with a smile on his face as he responded crosslegged under the chaos tree...

"Begin Bonus Quest (2)!"
