“You were too aggressive back there. They deserved it but they are still family.” Ruth admonished with a soothing voice that was able to stretch its hands to Redmond's darkened heart.

“Family? Then, you should be treated like one.” Redmond retorted with a plain face.

She smiled heartily and stared deep into his eyes. “Is alright. I will take it from here. Just wish me luck.”

“Again?”

“Yeah, say those words to me again” She smiled heartily  like a child as she waited for the killer word.

Redmond’s eyes glinted in amusement, “Go and kill it.” He said and then both went their separate ways.

Right at the sixteenth floor, the elevator door binged, signalling Ruth that she has reached her destination.  On entering the building, she was welcomed by a receptionist, an average height and beautiful thick lady wearing a spectacle approached her.

She immediately dropped a professional smile, subconsciously making Ruth do the same though hers was a bit more tense.

“Hey, you must be Mrs Teleimans?”

Ruth nodded with a coyish smile, though hesitant at first. She was speechless by the receptionist's calm and respectful demeanor. It was safe to say that she wasn't expecting a warming welcome from them at the very least.

“Please” she took the lead while Ruth followed behind. She stopped before the door and a light knock did the magic as a gentle voice emanated from inside.

“Good morning sir,” the receptionist greeted with a slight bow before leaving Ruth to a man who she believes is the great president of the Zinont Group.

She was literally trembling as she stood face to face with a man believed to have the utmost respect and regards from the Seven Keys of Denor city. She swallowed hard as she surrendered her mission to fate. She was blank at this point. Honestly speaking, she never expected she would make it this far.

“You’re highly welcome, Miss Teleimans. I'm Mr. Paulson Jenkins, the president of Zinont Group” Mr. Paulson welcomed warmly as he offered a handshake. Ruth was hesitant at first before honouring the gesture. Everything was happening too fast. The man’s humility and kind gestures made her more uncomfortable and skeptical. “Please, have a seat.” He offered as both sat on the seat.

Ruth cleared her throat as she smiled nervously, “Sir…”

“Please don't sweat it, Miss Teleimans.” He dips his hand inside his drawer and brings out a document which he gently places on the table and adjusts it towards Ruth. “This is the contract which I believe you’re seeking. Your firm has been found worthy and inside the document are the terms and conditions for the partnership.”

Ruth was dumbfounded as he gaped at him like a moron. She chuckled heartily, her eyes holding him in awe before steering it towards the document before her. “If this is a prank, sir, you really got me.”

Mr. Paulson couldn't help it. He smiled lightly “That's not the case here, Miss Teleimans. We're dead serious. Our company, the Zinont Group, wants to partner with you.” He admitted judiciously.

Ruth was still yet to recover from the shock. She was still skeptical about the whole drama despite the man’s reassuring words. For Christ sake, it was meant to be a tedious process. To her, there was no way all this would be true. It seems Mr. Paulson is a chronic teaser or joker. That's the only way to explain all these.

Indeed, she is right. She won't even make it past the receptionist if Mr Paulson wasn't on a life line, all thanks to Redmond's interventions.

She finally gets to grab the document, she grabs it slowly like a person that is wary of something, “You wouldn't happen to be kidding me, Sir?” She asked again as she narrowed her view to pip through the document.

“Not at all. I won't dare. Right in the document lies everything. Just waiting for your signature to close the deal.”

Ruth was short of words by the time she scribed her signature on the document. She couldn't believe it herself. As she leaves the office, she keeps tapping herself to be sure that everything was real and not surreal.

Just as she leaves the office, her view was marred with the sore faces of Avery and Edmund who were waiting patiently in the VIP section.

A malicious smile crept into their faces on sighting Ruth leaving. In their minds, Ruth pleas must have ended in deaf ears. Ruth was still in shock on how everything unfolded hence her countenance was pale and shaken hence they must have mistaken it to that of denial. They were happy at the very least though they were still surprised on how she was able to get a seat with the President but regardless it sure did end in deadlock.

“Sir, Should I welcome your VIP guest, Mr Weah inside?” The diligent receptionist asked on seeing that Ruth had left.

“No.No..Not at all. As it stands the Weah family are considered enemies to this company. You have less than ten minutes to cancel out every deal we have with them.” Mr Paulson instructed with a traumatized face. It was like he was under the influence of something or someone.

Earlier, just after he had settled with Ruth, he received a phone call from Redmond ordering him to do away with the Weah family. It was a huge task but he didn't regardless without batting an eye.

The receptionist swallowed hard as she inhaled and exhaled softly, “If I am not mistaken sir, you imply that we won't have neither will we be having any business deals and affiliation with the Weah family?”

The instruction must have shocked the receptionist as well. The Weah have been in business with the Zinont Group for years and all of a sudden, Mr.Paulson had decided to annul every deal binding them together. It was too much to internalize at that point.

“Yes, exactly.”

“Ok sir” she replied and turned to leave when Mr Paulson called out.

“This should be your words to them; Our dear company, the Zinont Group, do not intend and will no longer partner with nitwits like you for now or in the nearest future.”

In a flash, the receptionist obeyed and emerged with security officials. One should see the way Edmund and Avery carried themselves with pride, thinking that the receptionist flanked by the officers were a welcoming group deployed to protect the company's highest assets.

It came as a big blow when the receptionist’s  voice dropped. “We are sorry Mr. Weah but our company, the Zinont Group, do not intend and will no longer partner with nitwits like you for now or in the nearest future.” Her well articulated voice drops like the hum of a dumbbell.

Edmund’s face ashened. His face paled right before everyone. Avery wasn't having the best day either. She couldn't believe it herself. Eyes were already perching on them as the officers gave them time to internalize the news.

“No longer partner with nitwits, Nitwits?” Edmund murmured fervently within himself as the word kept poking in his brain. He could swear he heard that word from someone, oh! It was Redmond. He couldn't  help but think that Redmond had a hand in the whole situation but connecting the dots, it  didn't make sense at all to him. It must all be a coincidence, he thought to himself.

“I.. I think this must be some misunder…”

“Misunderstanding? I don't think so, Mr Weah. As a matter of fact, everything is taking effect as we speak. I advise you to head home with your spouse lest things start getting uglier.”

These words from the receptionist confirmed everything. He couldn't breathe anymore. It was so surreal that he had to grab his fabrics to be sure it was real.  He couldn't help but wonder what would have led to such a sensitive decision by Mr. Paulson. The more he tried to think the more his head spun, forcing him to go crazy.

“Can I see the President?”

“Am sorry, those days are behind you now. Your time have elapsed Mr. Weah.”  The receptionist signalled the officer to take care of him.

He tried to force his way out but they carried him like a baby and dropped him outside the building.

He fumed and cursed until his mouth went dry. The humiliation was too much, cameras kept flashing on him while he hid himself. Avery on the other hand was nowhere to be seen. Not able to stand the embarrassment, she must have absconded.

Just then, his phone rang and it was his dad, “What have you done, Edmund? Why have you decided to destroy everything! Why! Why are you head bent on destroying us? We have lost tons of money because of you. You have seven days to resolve things unless…”

He waved his head in disappointment, and exhaled softly “Not yet nanny Naomi, not when those murderers are still breathing.” He heaved an odd smile as he tilted his head down before extending his hand in the air and a black hat was handed on to him by one of his men. Fully on his feet, he gulped his saliva and took a last glance at the desolate grave, “Until those murderers are down to the very last of them, you shall have no rest.
