Chapter 6 What is going on

After some deliberation, Ethan was informed that they needed to take him somewhere else. Still reeling from the shocking revelations of the day, he couldn't believe that he had suddenly become the heir to such a successful empire. It was a position that would surprise anyone in his shoes.

Part of him expected this all to be over soon, as if it were some kind of temporary illusion. As the car pulled away from the mansion, he anticipated returning to see everything he had been shown earlier.

Through the car window, he observed the cityscape changing. They were driving into the part of the city where the wealthiest people resided. He had never had the chance to be in this area when he was surrounded by those greedy individuals from his past. But now, here he was.

"We have arrived, young master," Kate announced, breaking Ethan's thoughts.

He looked back at her, realizing they had reached their destination. But wait, wasn't this the most renowned plaza in the entire country? It was said to be the epitome of luxury and grandeur, not just in the city but in the entire nation.

Ethan stepped out of the car and stood in awe, gazing up at the tall and elegant building before him. Kate noticed his expression and smiled.

"Young master, this is the headquarters of the family's businesses and companies in the city," she explained.

It felt as if Ethan was hearing something beyond his wildest dreams. He stared at Kate, his eyes widening with disbelief. The headquarters of the Willows' business empire in the city was housed in this very plaza. This famous landmark, which he could only have dreamed of visiting before, now belonged to him. How blessed he was.

"Please, let's go inside," Kate said, leading the way.

As they walked, Ethan tried to absorb every detail, determined to remember every corner of the place. But as he looked around, his gaze fell upon a familiar face. Could it be...?

Before he could fully process his thoughts, the person spoke up. It was Frank, a familiar acquaintance from his past. Ethan knew of Frank's influential status and wealth, so seeing him here was somewhat surprising. How could Frank afford to be in such a prestigious location? Then, Ethan noticed a beautiful lady standing beside Frank and concluded that she must be the reason for his presence.

Seeing the small but radiant face of Kate, Frank was convinced that he would be able to win her over and take her away from Ethan. After all, his status and influence surpassed that of someone like Ethan.

As Ethan hoped to avoid any interaction, fate had other plans. Their paths crossed, and Frank couldn't help but make a snide comment.

"Well, well, who do we have here?" Frank said, eyeing Kate with a sly smile.

But instead of a shy face, she met him with a cold, unyielding expression. This only fueled his annoyance further, as no woman had ever looked at him in such a way before. He decided it was time to teach her a lesson and make her change her expression.

He attributed her demeanor to Ethan's influence and resolved to take his frustration out on him, hoping to prove to the beautiful lady that he was the better choice.

"Who gave you permission to enter this plaza? This is not a place anyone can simply walk into as they please," he questioned angrily.

Kate, unwilling to tolerate anyone speaking ill of her boss, decided to speak up.

"I granted him permission to enter. Is there a problem with that?" she retorted, raising an eyebrow.

Meanwhile, Ethan looked at him with an annoyed expression. He couldn't believe that he would encounter such an infuriating person wherever he went. He wondered if there was a place where he could escape the presence of people like Frank.

Frank, taken aback by Kate's response, attempted to rephrase his words and flaunt his status within the plaza.

"Well, one cannot simply enter and leave as they wish. An invitation is required for entry. And judging by your sudden appearance, it seems you don't possess one. We wouldn't want to further offend the plaza's owner with your actions," he said, feigning anger.

Ethan noticed Frank's smug attitude and concluded that he hadn't changed a bit. He was still as annoying as ever.

"Oh, so we would be offending the owner of this plaza? And why is that? And why are you able to enter while we cannot?" Ethan inquired, his frustration apparent.

As Frank saw the opportunity to exert his superiority, he wore an arrogant expression and spoke.

"You should know that entering without an invitation is as good as inviting trouble. However, you're in luck, as I happen to know the owner of this plaza. I can save you, but only on one condition," he stated, as if proposing a reasonable bargain.

"What condition?" Ethan asked, curious to hear what Frank wanted.

With a lecherous look in his eyes, Frank looked at Kate and made his announcement.

"On the condition that she spends a night with me," he said boldly.

Kate had never felt so insulted in her entire life. How dare he make such a proposition? Was he courting his own demise?

Ethan's annoyance grew even stronger. He was appalled by the audacity of Frank's ridiculous demands. All of this just to exploit him?

Unable to bear it any longer, Kate was about to call someone for assistance when a group of people arrived unexpectedly. They were none other than the board of directors.

Frank's expression turned to fear as he had never seen them up close before. Their sudden appearance could only mean one thing – something significant had occurred.

Just as he anticipated that they might create difficulties for Ethan and Kate, he witnessed something utterly astonishing.

"Welcome, Miss Kate," they greeted her with utmost respect and saluted.

Frank stood there, his face frozen in shock. His body began to perspire, feeling the weight of an impending revelation.

Whispering to himself, he asked, "What is going on?"

The air was thick with anticipation as the board of directors held the key to unraveling the mystery.
