Chapter 20

Adam became hesitant and confused. He didn't know how to satisfy his mother's curiosity without giving away too much detail. He wished she would stop asking so many questions, but just as he was about to say something, his phone saved him from the awkward moment.

He glanced at the screen and was surprised to see Hazel’s name. How did she get his number? He decided to pick up the call anyway.

"Hi, Hazel."

He was greeted by her cheerful voice on the other end. "Hi. You said last night that you were looking for a place to stay today, right? Let me come with you. I’m already in the hotel lobby."

Adam was surprised by her offer. He didn't expect her to be so kind. "That's really nice of you. Are you sure you don’t have anything else to do?"

Hazel giggled. "Of course not. It’s the least I can do after you saved my father’s life. Besides, I was just going to waste my money on shopping anyway, and this is more exciting. So, what do you say?"
