The Pitt's Family Mansion "The chairman's assistant really said that?" Sarah asked in disbelief. Noah and Evelyn nodded respectively. "Didn't you tell him she's no longer part of the Pitt's family because of the disgrace she brought upon us three years ago?" Sarah probed further. "We did, but he made it clear it's her or no one else." Noah revealed. "Perhaps he heard about the glorious days of the Pitt's family when Collette was still part of this family and even the manager of our family's company." Evelyn decided to add. "On second thought, since the chairman insisted, doesn't that mean he has picked interest in Collette?" Layla, who had been quiet the whole time, suggested, excitement obvious in her eyes. If that was indeed true, then not only will her daughter be accepted back into the family, the third family's position in the family will be elevated as well. The thought made Layla have butterflies in her stomach. The first and second family also looked at her with envy.
Collette stopped walking as soon as she walked out of the elevator. Coincidentally, the chairman's assistant was right outside. He recognized Collette as soon as he saw her and sighed within him wondering if his boss picked interest in her because of how beautiful she was. Nevertheless, he braced himself and walked towards her with a calm smile. "You must be Mrs. Huxley?" He asked and she nodded. "Just a few minutes ago, I was told the chairman refused to see the representatives sent by the Pitt's family and requested for me instead." Collette went straight to the point. "Yes, Mrs. Huxley. Please, this way." Dan nodded, pointing towards the only office in the entire floor. Although apprehensive, Collette nodded and followed behind him. He knocked once before pulling the door open, then ushered her in. As soon as she was in, he stepped back and closed the door. From where she stood, Collette could see a figure on his office chair. "Mrs. Huxley?" The person called, getting onto h
The room was dead silent as David slowly reached for his phone and answered it. Everyone watched his expression as his pupils dilated in shock. When he got off the call, he turned to Sarah, "I hired someone to look into the reason why our former partners parted ways with us only to discover the order had come from Iris Dame." "Iris Dame? Like the famous Iris Dame who we've only heard of, but has never been opportuned to see?" Olivia blurted out in surprise and David nodded. "According to him, Iris clearly issued an order to company owners that she'll bankrupt anyone doing business with our family." David added. Panic flashed past Sarah's eyes as she looked down at the signature in the document she held. She didn't voice out her thoughts, but Adair could tell she had a number of things running through her mind. "Which of you morons offended Iris Dame without realizing it?" She yelled as she whipped her head back up. The ferocious look on her face caused everyone to shrink back th
Halsey clung tightly to Collette's body when she saw Layla and Benjamin walk into the house. The faces were unfamiliar and their dressing reeked of wealth. Layla had a disgruntled look on her face as she stared around the house. "I don't see myself staying in a place like this. When do we move into the Crystal Palace?" Without specifying, everyone knew she was talking to Adair.Adair didn't pick offense with her as he smiled. "The estate manager insisted on furnishing it again. He said I'll be able to move in in a week's time." "A week's time? Why did you provoke the old lady if you knew it'd take that long!" Layla yelled. Collette sighed. To be honest, she was tired of hearing her mother yell at them this way. But she had been condoning it because she knew she failed her parents. "The Pitt's family has kicked you out, mother. You have no place to go at the moment, so I'll have to beg you to make do with our place until this Crystal Palace that was given to Adair is ready." Colle
The car stopped in a remote area which led citizens out of Crest Ville — the country's border. And guarding it were hundreds of men. Adair got out of the car and surveyed the area. The men who had been standing upright, immediately fell on their knees, heads bent to the ground. Jordan got out of the car as well, then extended his hand towards Adair. Adair looked down on it only to see a blood bag. "If I'm not mistaken, you've not had blood for three years which was why you kept seeing the bloody moon." Jordan muttered, his head bent as well. Adair nodded and took the blood bag. "Thank you." It took him only five seconds to drain the entire bag. Then he looked down at his soldiers. "Get up."Their movement was in sync as they got up at the same time, creating a beautiful artwork. "Have you been doing this for the past three years?" Adair asked Jordan as he strolled closer to the border. "Yes, sir." Jordan answered only to receive a warning side glance from Adair. Then he quickly
The new recruit was yanked backward and the man holding her looked straight at Adair, a tight smile lingering on his face. Jordan also became alert when he saw the man. "I needed to see you myself." Although far from them, Jordan and Adair heard the man quite clearly. "I'm glad you're alive though. My wish to kill you with my bare hands will come true after all." "Let the girl go and I might consider letting you live a few more days, Sinclair." Adair sighed softly. Sinclair chuckled, "You have no idea what I stand to gain when I drive a stake through your dark heart." "Just let the girl go and we can go shopping for the right stake." Adair mumbled. Sinclair stared straight at Adair for a few more seconds before pushing the girl into Crest Ville. As soon as she was in, she rushed towards the rest of her team members who were getting ready to come to her. Aster who witnessed the whole scene, had no idea why the man held the new recruit or who he was, so she intended to find out.
Collette got a couple of things from the supermarket that was sure to last them a few days, then she went ahead to pay. Unfortunately, one swipe at the card and the transaction was denied. "Excuse me, ma'am, but your card says 'insufficient fund'." The cashier said, raising her head to look at Collette. Collette froze. "Are you sure? Try it again. I'm sure there's enough to pay for everything." The cashier sighed a little then tried the transaction again. However, it still said insufficient funds."I'm sorry, ma'am. I have to attend to others." The cashier stated, extending the card towards Collette. Collette took it rigidly, and ignoring the looks from those behind her, she stormed out of the supermarket. Her phone vibrated in her pocket once she was out and she took it out to see it was a notification from her bank informing her a purchase she made was successful. A purchase? When did she ever make a purchase? Panicked, she went through the description of what she had bought
Minutes after he left the automobile shop, a sports car stopped in front of the shop and a tall figure rushed out. "Where's the man who bought the most expensive car in my shop?" He asked no one in particular, frantically looking around. "He left saying he has to pick up his wife from the bank." The cashier answered politely. "Didn't you tell him I asked him to wait for me?" He asked aggressively and the cashier shrank her neck in fright. After a while, the man asked, "Who can give me an avid description of what he looks like?"Everyone's eyes turned to the sales attendant who had attended to Adair. The other sales attendants stared at him with envy, while the owner of the shop looked at him like a gem. "If we can rope in this customer, then everyone is getting a raise. So I want you to describe how he looks to someone who'd try to draw me a picture. You have to be very careful." The man said and the attendant nodded. "Yes, sir." He answered stiffly. Then walked behind the man as
