CHAPTER 12

At the third school, just after giving his speech, Adam was leaving, and a reporter popped out of nowhere and kept asking him troublesome questions such as why he wasn’t talking about the complaints some parents raised about the school fees being abnormally raised every year, or what exactly he was doing in the car that resulted in an accident. Was it rash driving or something else? Why was he using a driver now? And why didn’t he include a point or two about driving safely during his speeches?

There was no camera, and it was only a voice-recorder. Still, Adam didn’t answer. He was specifically told to not answer to the media anything until it was time. And Evelyn helped him by scolding the reporter for being so shameless and insensitive for asking a question regarding the accident, as it might bring out the trauma, given it should still be relatively fresh in his mind.

The reporter even asked if they could enter the helicopter, but of course, they were rejected.

After they were in the sky, Adam put his hand on her knee, startling her. “Thanks,” he said before removing the hand.

“I’m just doing my job,” she replied. (The reporter wasn’t completely wrong, though. He could have spoken about driving safely after going through a bad experience, but there’s the chance of some students thinking he’s a hypocrite, so it felt necessary to not touch that topic.)

They reached the headquarters in a matter of minutes and landed in one of the helipads. As she was getting down, one of her high heels broke, and she fell diagonally forward. She thought she was a goner, but she floated in midair. Someone grabbed her by the back of her collar just in time. She was pulled back inside.

“Are you okay?” Adam asked.

Of course, it had to be him. There was no else beside him in her back. If he hadn’t caught her, she would have fallen head first, which might have resulted in her getting bedridden for at least a week or perhaps a month depending on how nasty the fall was. But what surprised her even more was how easily he stopped her and pulled her back. She never expected him to have such power given how slender his frame was. Was he hiding the muscles behind his thin frame like some of the celebrities do? She briefly wondered as she looked at him.

“Is everything alright?” he asked. “Hey,” he grabbed her shoulders firmly and shook her.

“I-I’m fine,” she stopped having unnecessary thoughts. “Thanks for your help.” She then removed her footwear before getting out.

Seeing her walk away with her footwear in one hand and files in the other, Adam chuckled a bit.

He caught up with her and asked, “Why are you taking them instead of throwing them away?”

“I spent a lot of money on these, and it hasn’t even been a month,” she said, gritting her teeth. “I’m going to show these to the shopkeeper and demand an exchange.”

“Oh, that’s music to my ears. If you need help, I can tag along.”

She was more than slightly surprised. “You will?”

“Why not?” he questioned her back. “I will buy a pair if I find any to my liking.”

To be honest, she wasn’t sure if the shopkeeper would accept an exchange, but if she were to take Adam there, it might make things easier for her. Though she had too big of a pride to rely on others to solve her problems, since he just said he also wanted to buy a new pair, she didn’t find the need to refuse.

“A-Alright.”

Adam went into his office. The office hours had long finished, but a person was waiting for him inside. He didn’t recognize her, but what struck him was that she was sitting in his seat with her feet on the desk. This red-haired woman with a sultry look was staring right at him. With perfect bushy hair and excess make-up like one of those models you see in magazines, she was a beauty one couldn’t easily take their eyes off.

“I’ve been waiting for you, Adam,” she said. “I’ve been waiting for a very long time.”

“S-Sorry,” he didn’t know what else to say. Who the heck was this woman?

“You look like you don’t even remember me,” she stood, and she was surprisingly as tall as him, almost six feet. Even though she walked only a couple of feet to get to him, she carried a swag. “How could you forget me after promising you’ll remember me forever?”

“F-Forever?”

“Yeah. For-fucking-ever,” she raised her hand and put her forefinger on his lips and tried to force it into his mouth.

“Mm?” he moved a step back. “What are you doing?”

“Are you feeling shy because this is your office?” she walked past him and locked the door.

“Eek,” Adam’s heart began beating faster. “W-Wait, what are you…”

She didn’t say a word but just put her hand on his chest before standing behind him and gently biting on his ear. Her lips may be tender but not her teeth!

It was only one little bite, yet he felt a surge of electricity throbbing his whole body, even the cheeks. She must have struck one of those sensitive nerves just hard enough to dampen his eyes and tighten his muscles. Her breath gently huffed in his ear while she bit on it, and it almost made him groan. He could feel her breasts swelling and pressing against his back. It was a delicious sensation that couldn’t be described. He felt uncomfortable, sure, but he was also somehow enjoying it.

The door knocked.

Adam suddenly came back into this world. Evelyn was standing outside. His heart skipped many beats.

He turned his head so that his ear was pulled out of this woman’s mouth, startling her. But what surprised her even more was that he didn’t turn to face her but was walking away.

“Where are you going?” she asked.

“To buy footwear.”

“What?”

Adam opened the door.

“Why did you lock the-” as Evelyn was asking, she noticed the woman who was inside. Her expression slowly but surely warped.

“Let’s go,” Adam said.

Evelyn, however, didn’t seem willing. She knew who this red-haired woman was. Sofia Bacic. A Croatian model who came into popularity with a sex scandal. She saw this woman’s face in newspapers back when she still used to read them. And, yes, she had read nothing good about this woman before. Seeing her in Adam’s room wasn’t surprising, but it still irked her for some reason. “Sorry.”

“What? What are you sorry for?”

“Because I changed my mind. I’m not going to the shoe store today,” Evelyn started walking in a hurry. “I have some urgent work I need to take care of. You can go by yourself if you want.”

Adam just watched with a bit of a downturned mouth. Seconds later, Sofia walked out and put her hand on his shoulder from behind and said, “Shall we continue?”

Her words might have stirred his heart if they were said any other time, but right now he was having none of it. He pushed her hand aside and walked away without saying a word.

Her face stiffened from anger and annoyance. “He sought for me straight after the scandal like a desperate little puppy that needed sucking boobs regularly, but now he has grown balls, huh. But did he forget that no balls are big enough for my mouth? I should remind him again, for sure. The sooner the better.”
