-The Camps, Zivel Forests- Inside the busy camps, Harry and Lukas stood still, watching the chaotic situation. Noelle, the girl Lukas saved, had run off just a few minutes after reaching the camps. Lukas couldn’t comprehend her behavior. She hadn’t even waited for him to ask her name. It was too strange. Shouldn’t they at least get to know each other? He sighed. Maybe some people were like that, or maybe she felt awkward because of her differences with Harry. Anyways, they were safe now. “Come on, let’s go.” Lukas said, dragging his brown haired friend with him. Rather than going towards the safe shelters which were built to house them, they both went towards the healing tent. Since their injuries were not so serious, there was no reason for them to be carried away on stretchers. The healing tent was filled to the brim, and the healers were seriously understaffed. There were a lot of people, both teachers and students waiting to be treated. Lukas sat down near the healing tents,
“Over here! Quick!” A person shouted. He had come with the reinforcements from the high school, and seemed to be a rank higher than the other teachers, seeing the way the teachers flocked around him. Immediately after he shouted, several people ran over to him, eager to receive instructions from the man. “Can’t you all see that he’s seriously injured?! What are you still doing? Heal him quickly!” The man said, pointing a student that was bleeding profusely. The healers among the people he called quickly rushed up to the boy, and started casting several healing spells on him. In a matter of seconds, the boy was healed of his injuries. Several scenes similar to this were also taking place in different places in the camps. Teachers, led by departmental heads ran around the busy camps, treating as much injured as they could, taking a huge amount of workload off the dog tired healers. In an office built in the camps, Dean Shinomiya and his assistant watched the scene from the windows w
“Greene, let him in.”The Dean’s voice echoed from inside his office, startling the two men outside. By the look of things, he had heard the conversation between the gold ranked hunter and his assistant, and therefore decided to grant him audience to speak with him.Greene, the Dean’s assistant, vehemently disagreed with Dean. He didn’t want the hunter to meet with the Dean.“Dean Shinomiya, I don’t think we should let him in. We have more important things to do.” The assistant replied, passing the hunter a side look that was filled with contempt.Rodd, the gold ranked hunter looked at the assistant and scoffed at the subtle insult, but said nothing. The decision to grant him an audience with the Dean didn’t rest on him but on the Dean, so he could care less about what the assistant thought.“Why? He might have something important to tell us.” The Dean retorted.“It surely can’t be as important as what we were doing, Dean Shinomiya.” The assistant shot back, not willing to give up.Th
Rodd, a gold ranked hunter, didn’t know the corpse on the floor, but he knew that from the reaction of the Dean, the corpse’s identity was far from simple. The Dean however just stared at the body; his mind was reeling with shock. He couldn’t figure out why the Purple Pavilion would send their members to disrupt their training. As a being half step into becoming a God, he knew that there was more to the attack that met the eye.As he studied the corpse, he was suddenly reminded of something important. The members of the Purple Pavilion were by no means weak, so it begged a very important question.Just who was capable of killing a terrorist from the transcendental organization? As far as he knew there were very few people who were capable of killing a member of the organization present in the Aegis Empire. Most of them were very busy as they attended to numerous serious matters, so much that they barely had time for themselves, not to talk of coming to the Zivel Forests. The only reas
-Zik City, Etienne Mansion- “And on today’s news, we are reporting on the vicious attack on Aegis Imperial High School. According to inside formation, the Dean of Aegis Imperial High School made a drastic decision to send their top students to the Zivel Forests.” “As we all know, the Zivel forests is a location that just received an A-rank in terms of danger level. It is dangerous even for gold ranked hunters, and they actively avoid the said forest.” “This brings us to ask a very important question. What made the Dean of Aegis Imperial High School ask send his students to such a dangerous place?” “The answer we got was shocking. As we all know, despite claiming the number one rank in the Empire; there have been complaints about their poor run of defeats in the Regal Tournament, a top ranked tournament involving several empires.” “In a bid to improve their ranking in the upcoming tournament next year, the Dean sent his students to the forests. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as pl
The bright rays of the sun peeked past the windows in Lukas room, lighting up the dim room. Lukas closed his eyes at the sudden bright light, before turning over on the small bed, using his bed sheets to prevent the bright rays from touching him. It had been a week since they came back from the forests, so the backlash from the media had yet to die down. There was also no classes being held now, as a lot of teachers had lost their lives in the attack, so the students were forced to self study. Lukas in particular was having it rough. Mr. Luis was nowhere to be found after the attack. He wasn’t confirmed dead, as his body was yet to be found, but most people believed that he was dead. Due to his sudden disappearance, Lukas was left with only the magic circles for his deviant element and the technique for improving his mana control. Many students had decided to withdraw from the school, as they were unable to overcome the trauma from the attack. Those who had decided to stay still h
The alarm in Lukas’ room rang, waking the silver haired boy from his sleep. Lukas groaned, before rolling over, shutting the loud alarm.Lukas sat up, fully rested from his yesterday’s trip to the mall. He stood up from his bed before exiting his room.A few minutes later, Lukas came back wet, his lean but muscular body dripping with water. After drying his body off, he turned his gaze to the unpacked boxes he bought yesterday. He put on his new outfits with a smile on his face, liking the ease and style they provided him with. He looked at the ring on his right index finger, before adjusting the collar of the coat.He smiled again, extremely satisfied with what he saw, before making his way out of the dorm.He hailed a cab when he got outside the building, paid the slightly expensive t-fare in advance, albeit grudgingly, before settling into the back seat.***After a few hours of driving, the taxi finally came to a stop. The journey showed how far the Hunter’s Alliance building was
Lukas took his seat on the empty bench, before opening the small book. His heart was beating with anticipation, as he was eager to know the rankings and their privileges.Lukas was soon engrossed in the small book, ignoring everything around him. He didn't know how long he read, but after some time he was finally done with reading.Lukas sighed. The rankings were pretty straightforward, as the book explained everything concerning it.There was the Bronze rank, which was the lowest and the starting rank for hunters. There were a total of 5 stars in each rank, and only when a hunter had made achievements equivalent to five stars would they be promoted to the next rank.As it was right now, Lukas was just a one star bronze rank hunter. The hunter card he was given also had his rank printed on it.The next rank was the silver rank. It showed that the hunter was no longer a newbie. Many hunters were stuck in this rank, as it was hard for them to garner achievements or contribution points w
Ciel was still shocked at the identity of the masked hunter. Although she had some suspicions, there were merely suspicions. What were the odds of the masked hunter that was her teammate being Lukas himself? From what she could tell, she could see that Lukas was very experienced as a hunter, even more experienced than her. She easily deduced that Lukas had thoughts along the same line as her after the traumatic experience at the Zivel forests, and decided to increase his strength by becoming a hunter. However, she did not account for the speed at which he grew. By some coincidence, they even managed to join the same guild, and were assigned to the same team, which was the only reason she was able to deduce his identity. With tumultous emotions raging wildly in her heart, she joined the village guards and started to help evacuate the helpless villagers while fighting against the saber toothed tigers, taking a passive stance in the heated battle.Lukas who had no idea that his identity
A surprised expression immediately appeared on Chief Keef's face, and the powerful aura that he had kept hidden suddenly skyrocketed. Without even sparing the three guests in his small hut a glance, he exited the hut in a haste. Amanda glanced at Lukas and Ciel briefly before exiting the small hut, leaving both Lukas and Ciel no other choice than to do so. When Lukas and Ciel appeared outside the small hut, the scene before them was one that they did not expect at all. Several huge monsters could be seen charging at the weak villagers. These monsters were incredibly huge, easily towering the villagers at more than 3 meters tall. They bore an uncanny resemblance to the tigers on earth, with few differences. The teeth of these monsters were incredibly sharp, cutting through the weak defenses of the villagers like tofu, and the four front canines were shaped like sabers, hence their name saber toothed tigers. At a single glance they could see more than fifty saber toothed tigers; an
“What do you think you’re doing in my village?”Amanda swung her wand when she heard the voice, pausing the terrified villager’s fall. The villager had his heart in his mouth at that moment, as his face inches away from the ground. If the voice hadn’t interrupted Amanda from her actions, he had no doubt that he would have been face planted on the hard ground and turned into mashed paste.Lukas and Ciel were both shocked and curious that someone was capable of making Amanda cease her actions. They had no doubt in their minds that the villager was a goner when he mocked Amanda’s outfit. They were instead worried about how they would explain the injury of the villager to the Hunter Association when they submitted their quest report for clearing.Amanda slowly turned around to face the owner of the voice. There was shock in her eyes as she gazed at the chief. She was a silver ranked hunter and a Great Mage, which spoke volumes for her physical strength, but she was unable to sense the chi
The journey to Gien village was a smooth one, albeit a long one. It took seven hours for them to get to their destination, one hour longer than the usual time needed. Throughout the duration of the journey, both Lukas and Ciel maintained complete silence. Lukas instead spent the whole time looking outside the window of the van. He found himself missing Eipi all of a sudden. At least, the journey would not have been this boring. When they arrived at Gien village, the van dropped the three of them off before driving off speedily.Lukas and Ciel looked around the village as soon as they alighted from the van. As the name suggested, Gien village was truly a village. At a single glance both Lukas and Ciel could tell that it was very underdeveloped. The van had dropped them at Gien village, but they still had to walk a short distance before they got to the gate to the village. As the trio walked towards the gate, they ran their eyes around their surroundings. Lukas in particular was very al
The night passed quickly with Lukas following his daily routines which were his usual meditation and exercises. The next morning Lukas woke up early as usual. Amanda had informed them to arrive on time to the Guild building so that they could leave early and get to Gien village on time.Lukas dressed up in his usual hunting outfit, which were his stylish combat clothes, his jacket and most importantly his mask, before exiting the dorm. The dorm was still empty as usual, as the backlash from the attack had yet to die down. Lukas however wasn’t bothered about that. He would use this period to increase his personal strength. That had always been his goal.He took the cab as usual and got to the Guild building early. The meeting room was empty meaning that he was the first to arrive.Only a few minutes passed before the door to the room opened and a beautiful lady with blue hair stepped inside the room.It was of course Ciel. She was also dressed in her combat suit, which was blue in colo
“Denied.” Amanda said authoritatively, twirling her wand as she spoke.Ciel let out a light groan when she heard Amanda’s response. This was the fourth quest she had suggested to Amanda but she had denied it just like the other three she submitted to Amanda.Lukas stood up and handed over a document to Amanda. He didn’t read it this time because Amanda told them not to read out loud anymore. Their voices were sickening and would give her endless nightmares according to her.“Denied.” Amanda said again, still twirling her wand as she spoke.Lukas didn’t groan like Ciel. Instead he just turned and went back to searching for a new quest. After having his quests rejected eight times, twice that of Ciel, he gave up on complaining about the rejection. The time he used to complain was better spent on searching for new quests. He had learned from numerous rejections that his complaints meant nothing to Amanda. And just like that, two hours of their time were spent searching for new quests. Af
The reason for their shock was obvious and understandable. At their level as Basic Mages the feat that their team leader performed was completely shocking to them. Casting a magic spell without the use of a magic circle was something they couldn’t comprehend. They had been taught that it was impossible to cast a magic spell without a medium which was why magic circles were required for casting spells so seeing Amanda cast a magic spell without a magic circle was utterly shocking to them.Amanda paid them no heed. She could clearly see their confused gazes and shock at her method of casting magic but made no plans to explain it to them. Not only was it stressful to do so there was absolutely no need for her to do so. She saw no reason to explain the mystery to them.“These documents contain several quests issued by the Hunter Association. Completing the quests will give us contribution points which in turn can be used to level you both to the silver rank.”Lukas and Ciel leaned forward
A beautiful lady with light blue hair and very curvy body walked in. She was dressed in a fitting hunter’s outfit and at a single glance Lukas could tell that her outfit was enchanted. Her blue eyes that were just as beautiful as her hair scanned the room and came to rest on Lukas. However, her incredibly beautiful face scrunched up into a light frown of confusion when she saw Lukas. For one, Lukas face was as usual covered up with a mask, so she was unable to see his face. His silver hair was now long enough to be packed in a small ponytail, which was what he did.She looked at him for a few seconds before removing her gaze. Hunters were eccentric people anyways. It wasn’t abnormal to see someone wearing a mask.Meanwhile, Lukas was extremely glad that he had decided to wear a mask. The lady wasn’t able to recognize him because of the mask, but he was able to recognize her the instant she walked in.She was none other his senior at Aegis Imperial High School who followed them to the
The new rule passed by the Chairman of the Hunter Alliance created a buzz among the Hunters. As expected, the hunters and Guilds were not welcoming of such rule. They had reported to the Hunter Alliance in hopes of them providing a reasonable solution, but instead all they got was a ban telling bronze ranked hunters not to participate in dungeon runs. Of course they were several bronze ranked hunters or Guilds who disregarded this rule and went ahead on dungeon runs. However their ending was far from ideal. The bronze ranked hunters all had their hunter’s license revoked permanently while the Guilds involved were given a 12 month ban on participating in dungeon runs. A 12 month ban was similar to crippling the Guild’s flow of profit because they couldn’t rely on expeditions alone, needless to say that dungeon runs were twice as profitable as expedition. When several hunters heard the harsh punishment passed on the hunters and Guilds that violated the rule, several bronze ranked hunt
