Decision

Lukas opened his eyes and found himself in a room. The room was spacious, the walls were painted white, the bed was soft and the sheets smelled nice.

Lukas looked around the room and fixed his gaze on the door. There were voices behind the door. It sounded like a woman and a man were discussing something.

Lukas removed his gaze from the door and looked outside. As he was admiring the view from the window the door pushed open and a person entered.

The person who entered the room was a young woman who looked to be in her mid twenties. She wasn't tall, probably 5'2 with brown hair and green eyes. She was dressed in a gray camisole and gray slippers.

She wasn't beautiful but her face was very pleasant to look at. She walked towards where Lukas lay before sitting on a chair opposite him. She and Lukas looked at each other for over a minute before he coughed and looked away.

"How is your arm?" She asked. Her voice was very soothing to the ears. Lukas found himself lost in her voice before she coughed and repeated her question again.

"My arm?" Lukas then glanced at his left arm and to his shock his left arm was perfectly alright. Lukas was dumbfounded. He clearly remembered his left arm being ripped out by the four eyed monster wolf. But now his left arm was perfectly alright as if his arm being ripped out was nothing but a lie. His blistered legs were also healed. His skin that were filled with bruises were also healed. He was even wearing a new set of clothes; his previous torn clothes replaced.

"Well? How is it?" She asked again. Her voice jolted him out of his reverie.

"It's fine miss."

She heaved a sigh of relief at his response. Another minute of silence passed between them. She brought out a notebook and a pen before she broke the silence again.

"What's your name?"

"Lukas"

"Last name?"

"I don't know."

"How did you get inside the forest?"

"I don't know"

"How old are you?"

"I don't know"

She brought her head up from the book and sighed. This was tough for her. The boy before her didn't know anything apart from his name. She was part of the police and it was her job to take care of any peculiar incidents she came across. But if she couldn't gleam any useful information from the boy then she wouldn't have anything to report to her superior. She sighed again before standing up. She went to over to where Lukas lay and brought him out of the bed.

"Come. Let's take a walk."

Lukas then followed the woman. Together they walked in silence. From his room, they took the stairs and arrived at the rooftop. When they got to the rooftop, She looked at Lukas before saying

"I'm supposed to ask you about everything, who you are, where you are from, how you got inside the forest. But as it stands now you don't know anything about yourself. "

Lukas looked down at the people walking and going about their business. He then turned to the woman and asked

"What's going to happen to me now?"

"There are two things that could happen to you. After this week you will be forced to leave the hospital and will have to fend for yourself. Or I could send you to the Military academy; but if you join the military you will have to enlist or leave the Military in the next 3 years."

"Military?"

"Yes."

It then occurred to Lukas that he knew nothing about this world. He didn't know how he got here or anything about how this world worked. It was too soon for him to make a decision.

"I know it's too soon for you to make a decision so I'll leave now. You should think about it but remember you have a week. Once the week is over you should have made a decision then or I won't be able to help you anymore."

She then turned and left, leaving Lukas alone on the rooftop to come to a decision.

***

A week passed in the blink of an eye. Lukas had contemplated about which choice to make during the week. He was sitting on a chair in the corner of the room when the door opened. A young woman with brown hair and green eyes entered the room. She was wearing a brown shirt and gray jeans with boots to match. She walked towards where Lukas sat, brought another chair and sat down.

"So? What's your decision?" She asked, getting straight to the point.

Lukas looked at her before opening his mouth.

"There's something i want to ask before I make my decision."

"Ask away."

"If I go to the military academy, after 3 years I'll be free to leave?"

"Yes, after 3 years you'll be asked to either join the military or leave to fend for yourself."

Lukas closed his eyes, opened them again before looking at the woman.

"I'll be joining the military academy"

There were a plethora of reasons why Lukas decided to join the military. For one he didn't know anybody here. Everything in this world was unfamiliar to him. He wasn't sure how long he could survive on his own if he chose not to join the military. He was sure that he couldn't be older than 10 years of age. There was little such a young boy could achieve on his own. He needed a shelter, a place he could stay until he got a clear grasp on where he was and how he was going to live in this world. He decided that he was going to join the military academy until he was able to fend for himself.

"That's great. It's chaotic outside and I'll only be relieved that you are in a secure place. There's no place better than the military now. Get up then, we're leaving now"

She stood up, then paused before looking at Lukas. "My name is Tasha." She said before making her way out of the room.

Lukas then stood up, looked around the room one last time before making his way out of the room.

He was joining the military.
