Beatrice, intending to excuse herself, turned the corner and collided with a solid figure, accompanied by a musky scent. She uttered a quick "sorry" before realizing she had bumped into James. Instead of a casual apology, James unexpectedly pulled her into a secluded corner, and she instinctively began to resist.

"Leave me alone, or I'll scream the place down," she warned, struggling against his grip. James, however, seemed more intent on conveying a message than causing harm. "I just want to warn you that all is not as it seems in these parties," he said urgently. "Be careful of strange connections."

Beatrice, still frustrated and bewildered, yanked her arm away from him and headed toward the toilet, muttering to herself. "Who are you to keep watch over me?" she questioned aloud, her irritation evident. Turning around, she raised her voice and said, "Keep it all for Shandie; it's not needed here."
