Chapter 6: Life's Tough Trials

Getting a call like that made Zayn feel like he had just been struck by lightning during the day. The man did not expect one more surprise from fate that would test him. Zayn then fell on the side of the road, and once again, this scene drew attention from the surrounding people. Teardrops began to appear clearly on his face.

"Hello, Mr Hayes. Are you still there?"

Hearing repeated calls from the hospital brought Zayn to his senses. The man had to be strong because his mother was the only family member who still cared about his fate.

"Yes, I'll be there soon," Zayn responded softly. The man tried to hold back his tears and sadness.

Several calls were made, and Zayn is heading to Umbrella Hospital to see how his mum is doing. The woman's name was Teresa Hudson, a widow with one child, Zayn.

Based on the explanation from the hospital, Teressa had just been in a car accident while trying to cross the road. Instantly, the woman was unconscious and was bleeding heavily. Teresa is now critical in the hospital.

Arriving at Umbrella Hospital, Zayn immediately ran to the reception to confirm the location of his mum's room. And from the windscreen in the ICU room, Zayn saw her lying weakly, with medical equipment attached to her body.

In the trance of tears and stifled sobs, a man in a white coat touched Zayn's shoulder. That man was Doctor Sheldon.

"Mr Hayes, I need to talk to you one-on-one. It's about your mum's condition, which is worrying."

Hearing that sentence made Zayn even more devastated. He had to prepare himself to hear the worst. Doctor Sheldon then explained some crucial information about Teresa's condition, and Zayn was quite surprised to hear that.

"For that, we need surgery as soon as possible, and we need permission from the family to do so," the man said firmly.

"Of course, I agree. You don't need to ask that, doctor. I will do everything for my mum's recovery," Zayn responded wholeheartedly.

Doctor Sheldon then tried to understand the situation of the man before him. Zayn looked so messy with shabby clothes, street stains, and a dishevelled appearance. The man could even guess Zayn hadn't showered, so he smelled bad.

"Okay, but Mr Hayes, the surgery procedure is not that easy this time. From the health data we obtained, Teresa, your mum only has regular insurance, and that agency cannot cover the necessary expenses. So I suggest as a doctor that you pay off the surgery fee immediately so we can take immediate action," Doctor Sheldon spoke more openly to Zayn.

Listening to that, of course, Zayn then understood the point of the doctor's conversation. The hospital delayed the surgery because the patient had to pay the bill.

But on the other hand, Zayn also realised that he had no more money in his account. The man had just been fired when his company was sold cheaply. All of Zayn's assets were also depleted to cover the shortage of payment funds. The car Zayn used to drive had also been pawned to pay Zayn's bail and ransom to get out of jail.

"Okay, I'll work on that right away," Zayn responded, leaving the doctor's office.

Zayn now decided to go back home and look for anything that the man could use as money to pay for his mother's surgery. The hospital also did not advise Zayn to take any more time because of Teresa's increasingly worrying condition.

But when he got home, the feeling of sadness that Zayn felt was immediately replaced with a feeling of anger. How could the man not be grieving thinking about his mother's condition in the hospital, but his wife seemed to be having fun?

"Bianca, are you crazy? Why did you bring this hideous man into my house?" Zayn was angry, and his tone rose.

The man found a sight that ignited the embers when Bianca enjoyed making out with Benjamin. They were even seen hugging each other tightly in front of the terrace.

"Oh, hi useless husband. Don't overdo it because this is my house too; I'm still your wife. So everything that belongs to you also still belongs to me," Bianca replied teasingly. Benjamin even showed a sly smile upon hearing that sentence.

Zayn was completely at a loss to deal with his wife, who acted like a bitch. That woman had completely lost her shyness.

"You..." An emotionally charged Zayn was about to speak but held back his words; he was beginning to realise that Bianca was deliberately doing that so that Zayn could divorce her immediately.

"Whatever, you bitch!" Zayn said, then tried to ignore his wife as he was about to step into the house.

But something out of the ordinary happened. The sound of skin pressing against each other and intimate sighs could be heard instantly.

When Zayn turned around, he found Bianca and Benjamin kissing hotly behind him. It made Zayn's self-control disappear instantly. The man was now unable to think rationally.

Zayn immediately turned around, clenched his fist, and then punched Benjamin's face after breaking up the hot kissing action between the two.

"You lowly human. You guys cheated on me in front of my eyes and thought I would let it slide," Zayn said angrily.

"Hmm... haha. The definition of a lowlife is you. You're a husband not even considered in the in-laws' family. Your wife even wants to divorce you. Zayn, you are a lowly man; you lost your job and company and became poor simultaneously," Benjamin sneered at Zayn out of annoyance.

However, Zayn, who was still emotional, immediately threw one more punch at Benjamin. It made Bianca emotional. The woman tried to stop Zayn's action.

"Zayn, stop it. Look at you; you are no different from a street thug. Everything Benjamin said is true. I am your wife, after all; you must remember that you swore to accept all the good and bad in me," Bianca interjected, making the situation tense.

"Bianca, stop acting like a saint. You are a dirty bitch!" Before Zayn could finish his sentence, Bianca slapped him across the face.

Pack!

"Your mouth hasn't been taught any manners. If you are unhappy with my behaviour as a wife, please divorce me right now," Bianca refuted Zayn's sentence.

Bianca's continued mention of the divorce issue made Zayn even more upset. Zayn was not willing to let Bianca get what she wanted. Zayn expects a proper retaliation. But for now, the only thing he could do was kick Benjamin out of his house immediately.

"Dude, you dare to treat me so low like this. Trust me that I will avenge you for this," Benjamin said before finally being forced to leave the Hayes little mansion.
