The Consortium's Heir In Disguise

Chapter 1

"It's finally all done." Joshua wiped the sweat that was slightly soaking his forehead. He let out a long sigh after exiting the lecturer's room. 

At the moment, Joshua had just done the work given by his lecturer. He felt pleased after his lecturer talked about giving Joshua another job. Of course, it was because Joshua would get extra money, which was very useful to help him. 

Joshua is a poor student who can attend school because he gets a scholarship. He also does a lot of work to keep supporting himself. He is also a diligent man and a smart one too. But life is not all about that, so he is often underestimated.

Joshua also no longer has parents. Both of his parents have passed away, which makes him struggle alone, so he has to try to graduate, find a job, and live in peace. And after getting a job offer from the lecturer, he felt a little calm. 

Joshua was still standing in front of the lecturer's room. His eyes glanced at the clock in front of him. "I think I need to see Emilia right now." A smile spread across his lips. There were so many things she wanted to tell Emilia. "I'm sure Emilia would love to hear this."

Joshua began to move his feet to find Emilia's whereabouts. Before this, Joshua had tried to contact Emilia several times, but unfortunately, there was no answer from the girl. 

Joshua walked with total confidence. Joshua was sure Emilia would be happy to hear what he had to say. Joshua also recalled how Emilia had often told him to look for and get more work so that Joshua could give Emilia some of the things she wanted. "Not only have I gotten a job, but I've also been able to save a little." Her lips smiled after she said that. 

"In a few days, maybe I'll be able to take her to look for things she likes," Joshua murmured again. He had already gotten a few bills from the lecturer, but he wanted to save a little more so that he could not only buy Emilia's favorite things but also so that Joshua could take Emilia somewhere they had never been before. 

Joshua's footsteps led him to look for Emilia in the classroom, but unfortunately, he didn't see her there. 

Joshua had intended to ask one of his classmates about Emilia's whereabouts, but upon seeing Joshua's arrival, several people in the class looked at Joshua with a look that made Joshua feel uncomfortable. Some even examined Joshua's appearance from top to bottom, after which they acted as if holding back a smile. Until Joshua decided not to ask them about it. 

"I think Emilia is a very unlucky woman. How can she maintain a relationship with that poor man? What a pity." Joshua could hear the insults that were immediately greeted with laughter from some of Emilia's friends when she stepped out of the class. However, Joshua ignored them. 

After he circled around the campus, Joshua stopped his steps and chose to try to call Emilia back. But when he had just taken out his cell phone, his eyes accidentally stared ahead at the woman who had just passed him. The distance that was not too far made Joshua realize that the woman who had just passed by his body was his girlfriend. 

Joshua put his cell phone back in his pocket, making his steps a little behind Emilia. But he soon followed Emilia, who apparently entered the broadcast room. 

"What did Emilia go into the broadcast room for?" Joshua's brow immediately creased. But he kept walking and followed Emilia into the broadcast room. 

Joshua knew that Emilia was not a member of the broadcasting club. So he felt extraordinary when Emilia entered the room. "Maybe she's going to meet up with her friend," Joshua muttered. 

But when Joshua entered the broadcasting room, Joshua was shocked when his eyes caught sight of Emilia, who was currently kissing another man. 

Joshua's breathing quickened as his piercing eyes continued gazing at the two people still passionately bonding their lips. Joshua felt a tremendous tightness in his chest.

His hands clenched into fists, and Joshua didn't let that happen. He took another step and approached them. "Stop this!" Joshua forcefully pulled Emilia's body from the man's confinement. 

Joshua's forceful pull unbalanced Emilia's body and almost caused her to fall. However, her hands first grabbed onto the table, accidentally activating the voice broadcast button and making their conversation audible. 

Emilia's eyes rounded when she saw Joshua's presence in this place. "Joshua, why are you here?" The question made Joshua feel very disgusted. 

Outside the room, all the students who heard their argument were excited. Everyone stopped their activities to listen to the female voice they didn't recognize. Even from the broadcast room, a female voice called Joshua's name made some people look at each other.

"What's going on? Who is that woman? I don't think a woman is an announcer." One of the students looked confused. He tried to think and find out about the voice. But he couldn't find the answer. 

"I think there's a problem there." A woman replied. 

Meanwhile, there was still tension in the broadcasting room. 

"I should be the one asking you. How come you kissed that guy?!" Joshua's gaze looked straight at the man wiping his wet lips. In fact, the man didn't even have a guilty look on his face. 

The man smiled sarcastically at Joshua. "You shouldn't have given such an exaggerated response. You should realize that you're just a poor man who won't be able to spoil Emilia." Deliberately, the man wrapped his arms around Emilia's waist. Even with that action, there was no rejection from Emilia. 

"Remove your hands from my beloved's body." Joshua tried to pull Emilia from the man's embrace, but his tug only made the man named Daren tighten his arms around Emilia's waist. And this made Joshua's heart furious. 

Darren shook his head. "What if I don't want to do that?" This time, Darren deliberately pulled Emilia's waist closer to him until there was no distance between them. He gave Joshua a sardonic look and said, "I think you need to take that back. Because as of today, Emilia and I are dating."

Joshua knew the man very well. He was one of the rich guys on this campus. In fact, every day, Darren rode a six-million-dollar Bugatti Divo that enhanced his dashing appearance. And that made all the women so crazy about the man that they dreamed of being able to date or were willing to take off all their clothes to go with Darren. But Joshua had no idea that Emilia was just like the other women. 

Joshua's jaw hardened at the man's words. Joshua was so unhappy that he stepped closer to face Darren and spoke, "You should know that Emilia and I are lovers. So you'd better let Emilia go." Without taking his eyes off Daren, Joshua tried to pull Emilia's hand away, but unexpectedly, Emilia brushed Joshua's hand away.

"Don't try to touch me anymore because what Darren said is true. As of today, Daren and I are officially dating." The woman gave an affirmation to Joshua with a very sharp look in her eyes. Then, she immediately smiled sweetly as she glanced at Darren. "You should know that I'm already in love with Darren right now." One of Emilia's hands deliberately grazed Darren's jaw, then she looked back at Joshua with a cynical look. 

Emilia actually craved a rich man who could pamper her like Darren. During her relationship with Joshua, Emilia felt very tormented. Especially when she hangs out with her friends, who are always proud of her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Emilia can't boast about Joshua because the man has nothing to brag about. Even sometimes, Emilia felt very jealous of her friends who showed off their luxurious goods and other extraordinary things. 

"You're certainly very different from Darren. I just got a wonderful confession of love from him. I've always wanted a bag, an expensive watch, and expensive shoes. Darren has given them all to me. And those things I certainly wouldn't be able to get from a poor man like you." Emilia said all of that with pride. Then she changed her gaze, looking Joshua up and down, which made Emilia feel highly disgusted. Even the woman was incredibly regretful that she had spent so much time with a poor man like Joshua. 

Emilia shook her head. She still gave a low look and said, "Remember, you are just a trashy man and from now on we don't have any relationship anymore."
