Darius shrugged. “You’re right. I’d be glad to continue working with him if he’s okay with it.” He sounded like he was talking about the weather.

Samantha wasn’t half as calm as he was. She looked at him with bloodshot eyes and said, “Cut the crap! I don’t believe for a second that my father will continue working with you if you lay a finger on me! You’d better pray he doesn’t skin you alive!” Now that she was sure Darius wouldn’t forgive her, she didn’t bother playing nice.

Darius looked at her mockingly. “You know, I thought you’d become smarter and learn a thing or two after working for a few years, but you’ve actually become dumber than before.” He walked toward her, and she trembled violently at the murderous intent in his eyes.
