The next few days were incredibly tough for Darius as there were only two days before the one week leave granted to him ran out. He had spent the majority of his time in the study room going over several documents regarding the Reid consortium. However despite his efforts, he had yet to even finish 10% of the work he was supposed to do regarding the Reid consortium.

After signing one more document, he leaned back into his chair and sighed. There were still several documents arranged neatly on the table waiting for him to go through them.

He finally understood what his grandfather meant. There was no way he could handle this work alone. He had fully focused on working during the past few days, yet he had covered so little. He dared not imagine what the case would be when he resumed school. At this rate he would not even be able to get 1% of the work done.

Darius sighed once more. He looked at the antique clock in his study room and saw that it was already time for lunch. He had work

It showed that they were not ignorant about the powerful background Darius had.Only when Darius had sat down at the head of the conference table did the other people in the room sit.The senior secretary to one of the upper echelon's higher-ranking members passed several documents to Darius before passing them around to the others present. When everyone had received the documents, the secretary stood beside her superior. It was time for the meeting. The meeting commenced with the unveiling of the new products invented by the various researchers in the Innovative research department. Darius maintained a stoic face as he scanned the documents given to him, but he was shocked at what he saw. The Nix Inc. really proved why they were worthy of being the number 1 tech company in the country. The documents contained the list of the products and the details about them, along with starting price for their launch. The upper echelons sta

Darius drove his car at top speed as he wanted to arrive at Eve bar as soon as possible. He was naturally breaking the speed limits as he drove, which drew the attention of various traffic officers to him. However when they saw the customized license plate and the expensive looking sports car, they turned a blind eye to his high speed. Such a person would definitely have a powerful identity. As long as he didn’t get involved in a road accident, they could overlook his misgivings. After one hour of driving at top speed, Darius finally arrived at his destination. The outside of the bar was already busy, with the loud music from inside the bar echoing outside the building. There was a long queue of people waiting to enter, showing that the bar was a popular one. When Darius pulled into the parking lot with his sports car, his arrival naturally drew a lot of attention.“Wow! Such an expensive sports car!” A male in waiting in the queue said. The moment the bouncers saw the expensive looki

Erin was being held roughly by the two men. Her black gown was torn in some places and their hands were groping her breasts roughly. She tried to struggle with all her strength but she was too weak for them. Not only that, one of the two men had clamped his hands tightly on her mouth so that she would be unable to cry out for help. When Darius saw the unbridled lust in the gaze of the two males and the tears dripping off Erin’s face, his eyes went red from rage. He didn’t need anybody to tell him what they wanted to do to her. Their actions said it all. They wanted to rape her.“What do you think you both are doing right now?” Darius asked in a very icy tone. The two men jolted from shock when they heard Darius’ voice. They didn’t expect anybody to be here at all.“How did you find us?” one of the males asked Darius.“That should be the least of your problems now.” Darius replied coldly. The other male removed his hands from Erin and started walking towards Darius menacingly.“I will

Erin looked at Darius with confusion displayed on her face. ‘Work for him?’ She didn’t even know who he was! As a matter of fact, she didn’t know how she got here. While she was still trying to figure out where the heck she was, someone appeared and without even offering an explanation, he candidly asked her to work for him. Erin wanted to curse at him, but considering the fact that she didn’t know him, and neither did she know this place, she withheld her curses. The man could be very dangerous and lash out at her if she misbehaved. The only reason she was a bit calm was because she was sure that the man bore no resemblance to the duo who wanted to rape her. Although it was a bit dark at the time of the assault, she still remembered the faces of the two men clearly. “Excuse me sir, but I don’t even know you, neither do I know what you do for a living. I don’t even know how I got here. How on earth am I supposed to answer your question?” Erin replied in an exasperated voice. Dar

When he saw her response, Darius smiled triumphantly. It was exactly as he had predicted. He inquired once more, this time in a confident tone.“So Erin Chrysalis, what do you think about working for me?”Erin didn’t answer him immediately. She was still stunned by the details in the documents and the contract offer that he offered. The documents contained the list of several companies that were globally acknowledged. As a former vice president of Numbers Int’l, she naturally knew several of the companies mentioned in the documents. The least of the companies in the documents was worth at least $30 billion, which was an astronomical sum! Even the nemesis of Numbers Int’l, Nix Inc. was listed in the documents too. Although she was extremely shocked by the companies listed in the documents, her shock reached a new high when she read the contract details. The contract stated that she was to help manage the several companies that were listed in the documents. However, her shock largel

“Erin! Is that you?!” Darius and Erin both turned to the direction of the voice. Erin in particular was surprised when she heard her name. The voice of the person sounded very familiar to her. She wondered who the person who called her name was. Soon enough the person came into their line of sight. Erin face instantly morphed from one of surprise to irritation when she saw the person. It was none other than her college classmate, Vanessa Floyd. Vanessa and Erin both attended a highly rated college in their district. Although it was a far cry from universities like Kingston University, which Darius attended, it was still a top university. Vanessa and Erin were both regarded as the goddesses of their college. Not only were they incredibly beautiful, they were also very brilliant book wise, as they came out with top results after every exam. However, despite being worshipped by both students and lecturers in the college alike, the two did not get along with each other. Vanessa most e

The rest of the afternoon was spent with Darius buying several things he deemed necessary for Erin.He contacted the Elle; the manager of Dragon Lord’s Imperial Residence and instructed her to direct him to a suitable apartment. Soon enough, Darius phone pinged signaling the arrival of the message. Darius took a quick glance at it before driving to the apartment. The apartment was a two hour drive from Darius residence. It was very luxurious and stylish. Although it was not as classy as Darius’ apartment, it had everything that Erin needed.Erin’s jaw dropped in shock when the agent in charge of handling the house told them the price for the apartment. It was an astronomical sum of $200 million! It was completely ridiculous. She was about to persuade Darius to look for a cheaper apartment for her when the agent’s phone pinged loudly. The agent showed the message to the duo, confirming that the transaction was a succ

With the issue of his personal assistant sorted out, Darius could finally rest easy. Now he wouldn’t have to worry about his workload. The only thing he needed to do was sign the important documents that needed his signature and leave the rest to Erin. His sleep that night was a peaceful one. The next morning Darius woke up earlier than he usually did. His one week leave the university granted him for being the highest contributor at the charity gala was finally over, and he was resuming school today. As he prepared for school, Darius wondered how his classmates would behave when they saw him now. He had checked the class main chat on his messaging app a few times so that he could be up to date with the happenings at school. During the few times he checked, he saw that they had mentioned him a lot of times. The events at the charity gala had spread to the majority of the student body. "If you hadn't picked on me, I wouldn't have ended up like this. No matter how wealthy I've become, I'll never be able to take these black robes off!" The mysterious man's voice was shaky. He was extremely agitated.James frowned at that. He said curiously, "You keep saying I've done you wrong, but everything I did to you was what you did to others. I only gave you a taste of your own medicine."The mysterious man's breathing sped up when he heard that. He barked out a laugh and sneered, "I'll be honest with you. I never thought I'd have the chance to meet someone as dumb as you again."He shook his head. "I find it hard to imagine what your grandson will do when he sees you like this." As soon as the words were out of his mouth, the door was kicked open with a loud bang. The man was caught off guard. He looked at Darius as his body trembled violently.Darius frowned when he saw this. It was completely different from what he'd imagined. He narrowed his eyes at the mysterious man, his

Gabriel smiled and nodded. "Alright, then. I'll return to my workstation and prepare a proposal on what to do with Noah."Darius nodded and smiled. "Good. That's all I ever wanted." He turned to leave. "You need to get to work, and I need to return to my hotel to get some rest."Gabriel stopped. Darius' words made him hesitate. "I'm sorry to be asking this because I don't think it's my place, but it's probably better for me to ask anyway. I don't remember there being any hotels nearby."You should head home if you wanna get some rest. I don't understand why you're heading to a hotel to rest."Darius raised an eyebrow, looking surprised. He turned with his hands behind his back to look at Gabriel helplessly. "I don't know how to feel about what you've just said. You're making me think you're a little silly. Wouldn't I know how to search for a hotel?"It won't take you long to prepare a proposal, but it'll take me ages to get home from here." Darius turned and left.Gabriel's lips twitc

"Because you realized the risk was far greater than what you were comfortable with," Darius said calmly. But Noah started trembling. He looked at Darius in terror. He didn't expect Darius to see right through him after some simple back-and-forth. His eyes widened in fear.Everything that was happening now made him feel like he was dreaming. Noah had only been a step away from success, yet Darius had ruined everything.Tears filled his eyes as he gazed at Darius. "I've said everything there is to say. I'm the lowest rung on this ladder, and I only have one purpose for being here. It's to make you come under the authorities' control. Once you're here, my mission's accomplished."Someone else from the authorities will be here to deal with you, but that has nothing to do with me. They wouldn't have told me about it, anyway."Darius put his hands behind his back without saying anything. He turned to leave. Noah's eyes widened as he stared in fear at Darius' back.Darius didn't see this, bu

When Darius straightened up, his face became devoid of emotion. He said calmly, "I've wasted too much time on you. Now, I only want frank answers. Otherwise, I'll punish you for every lie that you tell me. I don't see any hope in your eyes, but let's see whether you prove me wrong."Darius paused, then continued, "I've already said something similar once. That was a chance I gave you. From this moment onward, I want you to know that I won't repeat myself because I believe you've had enough time to prepare yourself."Gabriel stood beside him and put his hands behind his back as his lips twitched. He'd thought about the various reasons for Darius repeating himself. But the one thing that hadn't occurred to him was that Darius had done it to give Noah time to prepare.Gabriel felt like applauding Darius, but the rational side of him stopped him from doing so. His rationality told him he'd be in for trouble if he were to do that, so he only looked at Darius with a smile.Darius sensed Ga

Darius raised an eyebrow and smiled. Then, he said, "You're too nervous, Gabriel. It makes it seem like you don't trust me. In truth, there's nothing for you to worry about."He stretched his neck and continued, "I know very well how bad the consequences of destroying this building will be. Aside from those silly regulations, I'll also need to pay for it. I might be wealthy, but that doesn't mean I'll enjoy forking out a huge sum of money as compensation."Darius spread his hands and shrugged. At the same time, he pointed at the window and turned to look at Gabriel. Then, he said, "Look. The windows are perfectly fine. They're not even scratched. That shows my life force is non-destructive."That's why you have nothing to worry about. You can put your heart back into your chest."Gabriel straightened up and sighed in relief. Then, he gave Darius an embarrassed smile.Darius grinned but didn't say anything in response. He put his hands behind his back and turned to look at Noah. He sai

"We're classmates from the same major, too! We were interns at Dream Investment Group, remember? And we got kicked out on our first day. You broke my legs because of a tiny argument we had outside the building! The surveillance cameras captured all of this!" Noah cried.Darius tucked his hands into his pockets and rolled his eyes. Then, he said mockingly, "You're the biggest fool I've ever met. Do you think you're the only one who can tamper with the surveillance footage? Any footage that can be tampered with can also be restored."Noah's eyes widened in shock. He gulped and tried to think of a way to explain away the injuries Darius had inflicted on him. Still, he couldn't think of anything. Before he had the chance to think any further, Darius spoke. He said, "There's one thing you got right, though. Gabriel is on my side, so he'll stand up for me no matter what you say."Gabriel's lips twitched at that. He subconsciously opened his mouth to say something in return, but Darius bea

"And I don't think it's my job to make you see sense," Gabriel continued. He put his hands behind his back. He gave Noah a look that was an odd mixture of gentle iciness. He sat down on the other side of the desk again.Noah's face was white with fear. Gabriel acted like he didn't see this, though. He smiled. "As I mentioned, I gave you plenty of time and chances, but you didn't appreciate them."His gaze turned frosty. "If that's the case, I'm sure you won't object to me doing this per our guidelines."Noah cried, "No, wait! I don't know what Darius has promised you to make you side with him unconditionally, but there's no way I'll let you two get away with this. You have to make sure you do everything by the book. You should know that without me, there's no way you'll get a dime from the Reid Consortium."Gabriel snorted with laughter when he heard that. He straightened up and slowly circled Noah. He sounded mocking as he said, "You've lost me there. I tried to puzzle it out, but it doesn't make sense at all."Why would I want to get my hands on the Reid Consortium's fortune? Even without it, I'm perfectly independent. I don't need it to survive."Gabriel crossed his arms and looked at Noah mockingly. "Or maybe you're different from the rest of us. Maybe you'll die without the Reid Consortium's wealth." He smirked and gave Noah a sharp gaze.Noah raised an eyebrow and smirked. "You're the one making me laugh now. I don't know

Gabriel sounded gentle, but everyone knew that was far from the truth. This was especially true for Noah, who sat across from him. He felt incredibly nervous. He shut his eyes and breathed rapidly.Noah never would've expected to still be in danger after being taken in by the authorities. He frowned and looked up at Gabriel. "So, are you determined to help Darius now?" His voice was shaky, and his eyes were wide because of his nerves. His emotions were clear as he looked at Gabriel. Gabriel bit his lip, feeling like he was about to laugh. To stop Noah from noticing, he quickly exhaled and sat down with one leg over the other. At the same time, he leaned forward to place his hands on the desk.He tapped his fingers on the desk quickly but rhythmically. Gabriel's eyes were devoid of emotion as he looked at Noah. "Tell me, Noah. What happened between you and Darius? Earlier, you said he was the one who injured you. Do you have any proof?"Because we checked the surveillance footage, a
