It was six in the evening, and dusk was fast approaching, slowly but steadily. Panting heavily on a street basketball court, were Leo, Quincy, Logan, and Tyler. Jessica too sat down and watched them, only that there was no enthusiasm in her eyes and she was mostly moody. Leo's mind too was barely on the game he was playing and he showed a few flaws which his teammates took advantage of, but still failed. However, they too were starting to improve. Quincy was getting faster and his dexterity was improving. Same with Tyler, while Logan is getting more and more strategic and calculative. Leo looked at his panting friends and he gave them all a thumbs-up while he was panting himself. "You did well boys... I... can see... your improve...ment" he said. Even with his godlike strength, playing basketball with those guys for hours was exhausting... and for Leo to be exhausted, means that the others are in a very dire situation. Quincy felt like he couldn't walk anymore, Logan felt the same a
"Well, everyone has been practicing, and you're all getting better in your cohesion—unlike before, and that is excellent." Mrs. Hale commended her students before adjusting her glasses. After a few seconds looking at the team with a smile, she continued, "However, you all need outside experiences to grow, which made me decide this… we'll be having a practice game." She finalized mysteriously."Practice game?" Every player on the field exclaimed in unison, and they all looked confused."Yes, a practice game." Mrs. Hale nodded. "In other words, you'll be playing against another school. They're also going to be participating in the tournament." She further clarified. "And which school are we going to be playing against?" Ray asked curiously, which made Mrs. Hale release a frustrated sigh."Don't be hasty, my boy. I was getting there." She said in a flirtatious manner before she decided to continue. Soon, a proud grin crept up to her face, which caused the students to suddenly have a bad
Leo walked to Mrs. Hale's side and braced himself for some kind of hit. The pressure he felt from the man approaching them wasn't ordinary at all. Mrs. Hale could see Leo tensed up, and she smiled and signaled for him to calm down. Leo didn't listen to her, but he wasn't doing anything overboard either. Instead, he let off his aura, too. The approaching man seemed to slow down slightly, before resuming his normal speed. He noticed a change in the air and felt it come from Leo. "Mr. Zack…" Mrs. Hale greeted respectfully, with red cheeks. Leo observed the man in front of him carefully, noting every little detail. White skin, pitch-black hair, broad chin, and very tall, taller than Leo. The man wore a black shirt inside while putting on a deep blue sports jacket. The rolled-up sleeves showed his hairy and muscular hands, which looked intimidating. Even without checking him out, Leo knew how muscular this man was. He looked into the man's eyes and all he saw were brown eyes, so de
At the sound of the whistle, both Kenny and Logan jumped to their limit, just to catch the ball that was just thrown into the air. Kenny, being slightly taller than Logan and having more power, caught the ball first. They both landed and Kenny pushed the ball forward fast. He bounced and ran with high flexibility and finesse, and he almost looked invincible. Logan quickly opened his chess domain and everything seemed like a chessboard to him. With this mode, he was able to calculate Kenny's moves quickly. He made a prediction and formulated a quick strategy. Logan quickly did a hand sign, and his teammates got the meaning immediately. After months of practicing, their teamwork was strong enough. And Logan, being the captain, made it even better, he was like the glue that joined his team together. Kenny was quickly double-teamed by Quincy and Collins immediately, following Logan's hand signs. Kenny smiled, as he was prepared for this, and he passed to Oliver, who was just running
Oliver bounced and faked a move to try to get past Jackson, who could barely hold on. ‘Things aren’t going well, I need help.’ Jackson yelped as he thought. Oliver, who had been smiling creepily since the transformation, rushed to Jackson with a speed so fast, Jackson had to back off, mistakenly tripping on his leg and falling. “Oh no.” Logan yelped. This wasn’t part of what he predicted, and Jackson falling could lead to some unforeseen consequences. Unfortunately, Logan wasn’t fast enough to calculate, and he wanted to avoid taking his chance with emotion-based decisions, as that could worsen matters. Quincy quickly left Kenny and went to handle Oliver.Kenny saw through this move and quickly moved to block Quincy's path. Quincy used speed to get past Kenny, and he was able to disrupt Oliver’s shot, by grazing the ball slightly with his finger. The ball hit the backboard and was on its way down. However, Kenny wasn’t done yet, and he went for the rebound. But… Collins wasn’t
Everyone on the court went to their positions, according to their formations. They tensed up and braced themselves for the game. Quincy entered the middle circle, as was the one to catch the jump-ball this time for his team. Logan was right behind him on his right, while Leo was on his left. Hayes was right behind Kenny, same with Oscar. These guys were like the attacking force of the team and they all braced themselves for the sound of the whistle. FWEEET! With the high pitched sound of the whistle resonating in the court, Quincy and Kenny jumped to catch the ball the was thrown into the air by the referee. Quincy out-jumped Kenny and caught the ball first. Kenny gnashes his teeth, as he didn't like it when Quincy overpowered him. They both landed and without wasting anytime, Quincy passed to Logan behind him, who in turn, redirected the ball to Leo without holding it. Leo caught the ball and gazed at Oscar. Oscar returned the deathly gaze as they both studied each other. Leo was
"What the hell do you think you're doing!?" Mr. Zack scolded Oscar at one side, away from the rest of the team, "Are you out of your mind?! You will risk exposing yourself." He said, furiously. Oscar wasn't having him complain and he wanted to explain. "Don't you think that guy also knows the same martial art technique we use? He's fast and agile and he can keep up with my speed. Something tells me he's even better." He argued. Mr. Zack pondered for a while before giving a reply. "Although I do suspect Leo, it doesn't mean you should take it too far. When I look at it, I don't think he's using the same technique as we are." He replied. Oscar opened his eyes widely as he was surprised. "Not the same technique?! How's that possible? I thought you said—" he wanted to question Mr. Zack but the latter interrupted him. "I know what I said, fool. It's extremely rare to find people in the world who seem to understand the true martial art techniques passed on for generations. Th
"Huh! Is he... crying!?" Oliver questioned. Kenny burst into laughter. "What a crybaby. It seems like he needs mommy to come to console him. Hahaha." He laughed out loud, and his teammates joined in. Leo heard this and he was enraged. His sense of logic was getting weaker and weaker. Logan began to feel some resistance like Leo wanted to break free. He knew that it was no longer safe to be here. "Get it together Leo," He consoled before yelling at his teammates. "Bring me Leo's jacket, and do it fast." He ordered. Tyler quickly took out Leo's black jacket from his bag and gave it to Logan without knowing why. Logan took it and used it to cover Leo's head like a hood. Mrs. Hale hurriedly walked to the scene. "What's going on with him?" She was about to touch Leo when Logan stopped her from getting closer. "Don't! I advise that you leave this to me. This isn't something you can handle." He said, trying to come up with an excuse. Mrs. Hale was a bit surprised and wasn't bu
