After doing some research on phoenixes till morning, Leo stretched his body and yawned. He was still a bit tired but that didn't bother him much, as he had a case to solve. He went to the bathroom, freshened up carefully, and tried not to tamper with the artificial skins on his body, before preparing for school. He put on another hoodie and a pair of navy blue trousers. He also wore a nose mask which he made for himself. It was black with some red lines which formed a cool design on it and it covered both his nose and mouth. He went downstairs and found his aunt preparing breakfast. "Morning Aunt." He greeted and he sat on one of the stools in front of a kitchen counter. Both the dining room and kitchen were combined but since Leo was just going to have a quick breakfast, he preferred the kitchen stool instead of the dining table. Besides, Leo prefers eating there for many other reasons. "Morning Sweetheart." Molly greeted and put a plate in front of Leo which contained his food;
Bouncing the ball repeatedly, Tyler studied Group C's formation and he began to plan his next move. 'We've got three aces; Ray, Eddie, and myself. The opponent has two aces, but Leo seems to be overbearing, and not even our aces can handle them. The way we can deal with him is to try to prevent the ball from reaching him. The only problem is Logan Martin. He might not look it but he's experienced and he's most likely the captain of their team. His coordination with Leo is also a huge factor and we have to avoid him too. Then we have Dan. He hates me and doesn't wish to lose to me. Chuck and Jackson aren't much but they also cannot be ignored…' Tyler analyzed. He suddenly came up with a plan and quickly briefed Eddie about it before passing the ball to him. Eddie pushed the ball forward and Jackson blocked him but he went past Jackson effortlessly… or so he thought. Before he knew it, Jackson hit the ball away from his hand. 'What the...' Eddie thought. He had already gone p
Leo went to the shower room in the school, took off his clothes, and opened the tap on his slightly muscular body. Droplets of cool water landed on his hot body, evaporating upon landing on his skin but not for long. When his temperature went down, the water began to flow down his body, making him almost shiver. It felt kind of cold to him but he didn't mind it. His temperature dropped to the optimum temperature and he began to enjoy a normal cold shower. Logan walked into the shower room and the first thing he saw shocked him. He had seen Leo's upper body before and his lower body wasn't much of a surprise to him, but the Phoenix tattoo on his back is what made him surprised. "You have a tattoo?!" Logan exclaimed, startling Leo with his sudden appearance and speech. After seeing that it was Logan, he took a deep breath and glared at him before continuing his shower. Not receiving any response, Logan went ahead to question him even more. "When did you get that tattoo? I d
Logan bounced the ball continuously, looking for who to pass to and also how to get past the guy right in front of him, Gary. Suddenly, he spotted Leo, and just as he passed the ball, Quincy intercepted it and caught the ball. This shocked Logan and infuriated Leo. "You're not getting past me this time!" Leo yelled as he tried to get the ball off Quincy's hands. Leo wasn't using his super speed so he and Quincy were still on par, in terms of speed. However, Quincy had better reflexes and Leo fell for another one of his fakes. PA! Quincy dunked the ball again and some of the spectators cheered while others were a bit bothered. Mrs. Hale was the most worried among them and she began to doubt Leo's performance. She thought maybe Leo had pushed himself too hard and was losing stamina, causing him to faint initially. Some of the students watching the game couldn't help but wonder what was going on. "Wait a second guys, both Leo and Quincy played a one-on-one game a few d
"Alright folks, I have watched your match and I have to say, there are some good talents among you here." Mrs. Hale commended before talking under her breath, "Your game went smoothly but I had to stop the last game midway since the fate of Group B has already been sealed since the beginning. But all in all, it was quite entertaining." she said. Quincy and the other group B members rolled their eyes while Leo smirked. After calling off the match between group C and group B players, Quincy and the rest of the players sat on the bench while Mrs. Hale announced the names of those qualified to participate in the tournament, by her own standards. Their names were; Ray, Eddie, Tyler, Gary, Ryan, Collins, Blake, Jackson, Dan, Quincy, Leonardo, and Logan. Fifteen players signed up, and twelve of them were qualified to play. Actually... Ethan didn't have any special skills but he was selected as decoration for the team by Mrs. Hale. She thought that she might still have a use for him. Chuck
The elevator reached the top floor and opened up for Leo and Logan to come out. They walked to Mrs. Angela's desk and she motioned for them to enter Dr. Cartel's office. "May we come in?" Leo knocked and asked respectfully. He could've been a bit casual with Dr. Cartel but he chose to compose himself and he didn't want to overstep his boundaries. "Of course, you may come in." A voice was heard from inside the office. Both Logan and Leo entered the office after being permitted to. "You seem to be busy as always." Leo smiled, causing Dr. Cartel's sour mood to lighten up a bit. The scientist gave a helpless sigh. "Science never sleeps, my friend." he said and turned to face Logan, "How are you, Logan Martin, right?" He greeted him and offered his hand. Logan wasn't too excited on the outside but he was burning with excitement inside. Although this wasn't his first or second time having a personal meeting with Dr. Cartel, he couldn't help but feel a huge sense of admiration. Logan s
In Leo's room, two boys were each immersed in their own works. One of them was scrolling through a browser page, doing research on a laptop in front of him while the other was reading a book on myths. Logan was using Leo's laptop for research while Leo was reading the book on myths in popular cultures, mythical creatures included. After reading for almost an hour, Leo stretched his body and looked at Logan. "You got anything yet bro?" He asked. "I do have a few things but they are not completely related to a Dragon and a Phoenix at war. Only Chinese myths bring both entities together but there was never a grudge between them." Logan explained. Leo got up from the bed and went to Logan's side to see the results he found. Most of the websites explained the myths of both entities being friends. In Chinese myths, Phoenixes represented the female, Yin while dragons represented the male, Yang. In other cultures, there were dragons and phoenixes too, the only difference is tha
A series of distress warnings began to appear on all of the screens, and all of the scientists began to run around frantically, like ants in a swarm. "The temperature of the host is rising. Several unusual signs have been discovered... "The young scientist issued a warning. Dr. Cartel moved to his side and examined the screen. He was terrified and in a state of panic. Among all the things he wanted to accomplish that night, creating another monster was not one of them, and he preferred to kill the host instead. He looked at the progress bar, which was moving faster than before and was already at 75%. The doctor was perplexed and wondered what was going on. The AI in the lab's distress messages didn't stop. The man in the tube was shaking more and more and he began convulsing. "This isn't good." A scientist muttered under his breath before turning to Dr. Cartel, "Sir, we should shut it down!" He yelled. "I agree sir." The scientist beside the doctor added. The confused scientist h
