It was fifteen minutes past three, Richard stood in kitchen washing the dishes and checking the spicy chicken stew on the burner at the same time. He had to get the meal ready and the dishes cleaned before five. The Weldoms family, a lower first class family that runs the Weldoms business group had a business meeting at the place.
Though the Weldoms family was a first-class family in Bee City, it was still a second class family compared to the top ten families in the city, which was topped by the Armstrong family with a net worth of five trillion dollars.
From the door, Victoria, Richard's wife came in with more dishes in her hands. "You piglet, hurry up," she ordered, dropping the dishes with the others. "it will soon be time. When you are done see me, I have some dirty clothes that need to be washed."
"Okay love," Richard replied.
"What?" Victoria shot a withering glance at Richard.
"I am sorry love.. sorry, ma," Richard apologized.
"You better be," Victoria thundered.
As Victoria stepped past the kitchen door, Richard sighed. He has been married to Victoria for about a year now, their marriage anniversary was just a month away but they have never had any form of intimacy.
A drop tear escaped from his eyes and he cleaned with up almost immediately with the back of his palms. "Men aren't supposed to cry," he reminded himself. He took a plate from the set of dirty plates and the plate reflected his sleep ridden eyes and he thought about his miserable life.
At first, Victoria showed some love for him but after those few months, she turned into a torn on his flesh. But even during those periods when Victoria treated him with love, she did not allow him to come close to her sexually, it was a forbidden word in the house.
She also noted that she regretted ever getting married to a poor jobless church rat like Richard, he was more like a burden on her, only good for house chores. But Victoria never talked about him outside their home. She detested any discussion about him.
Her relatives were not nicer, they treated him like an outcast, especially his mother-in-law and grandmother in law. Margaret, Victoria's only relative who treated him like a human, just like anyone else was dead, she died of cancer. But Richard still loved Victoria, that pretty face and the beautiful smile that captured his heart when they first met at Felix lounge.
Richard continued working on the dishes, lost in the realms of his thoughts that he did notice that the spicy stew was already burning.
"Richardddddd," Victoria screamed, knocking him off his thought.
Immediately, Richard perceived the smell of the burning stew and he quickly took it off the burner with his bare hands. It didn't matter if his hands got burnt, he had to find a way to undo his mistake. The last time this happened, Victoria made him fill a fifty litter bucket with water, using a table spoon. And she made sure the bucket and the source of the water were fifty meters apart. It was not a pleasant experience and he did not want to go through it again.
Victoria stormed into the kitchen, her face was flushed with anger. "What have you done again," she screamed. "The only thing you do with this your miserable life you can't still do it well huh, why did I ever get married to a piece of garbage."
"I am sorry ma," Richard apologized with a face smiliar to that of a child who is about to be punished.
"Sorry? you are sorry? will that undo what you have done? will that buy you enough time to prepare another meal for my relatives, huh, answer."
"I don't have any answer to any of the questions you just ask me."
Angry, Victoria gave Richard a hot slap across his face. "Do you know why you did this, because you don't know what it takes to earn money, jobless fool," she said to Richard who was now clutching his aching face with his left hand. The word Victoria just spoke spoke broke Richard's heart into a million pieces. Though it was a word he was already used to, from Victoria it was like a renewing stab.
At a second glance, Victoria noticed the burns he got from the hot cooking pot and she smiled. "I don't think there will be any further punishment, the stew pot has taken its revenge. Thank your stars that I am in a good mood today, you know what I am capable of doing right?"
"Yes ma," Richard replied.
As for the meal you just destroyed with your stupidity, come to my room for some money to order a meal from the restaurant."
"Thank you ma," Richard appreciated.
"Not so fast mister, that will be at the expense of your meal."
"I don't get you."
"That's what happens when a sophisticated lady like me decides to marry a school drop out. I meant, from tomorrow, you will only be having one meal a day until I decide other wise. Is that okay by you?"
"Yes ma," Richard said reluctantly.
"Good," Victoria ended and stormed out of the kitchen.
Richard bowed his head. "Why love a woman who treats you this bad, like a piece of trash," he thought. "I am her husband for God's sake," he screamed in his head. "Am I even supposed to be cooking our meal and washing the dishes?" his anger rising so bad that he had to clip his teeth to the roof of his mouth to control it.
Angrily, he stormed out of the kitchen and journeyed to the master bedroom. Victoria was chatting with her cousin, Emmie, when Richard walked in. At the sight of her, Richard lost his courage. "What?" Victoria inquired.
Her rude manner made Richard to get angry again. "Aren't you supposed to be washing the dishes and cooking our meals? I am your husband for God's sake, why are you treating me this way?"
Victoria stares at him blankly in astonishment.
"You know I lost my job because of you, just because your grand mom wanted a grand seven days wedding ceremony for her daughter, if you didn't love me then why did you accept my proposal?
But Victoria reminds silent. She stared blankly at the thrash she got as a husband. After almost a year of hard labor, he was still as handsome and muscular as the day she first met him. But that was then when she was blinded by love. Then, she saw a promising hard working man before her but today, she saw a worthless piece of garbage. But a part of her still loved him, but that part of her was gradually dying. She had to act strong so Richard will never be able to question her authority, that was exactly what are mum told her.
"Answer me," Richard shouted at Victoria for the first time she got married to her.
"What job were you doing when I got married to you?" Victoria questions.
"I was a cleaner," Richard stammered, "but it doesn't matter, I am still your husband."
"First whatever gave you the guts to shout at me tonight should also get you ready for the punishment that follows immediately after we return from the meeting tonight. A husband who can not put food on my table, what do you call that."
"You should count your self lucky that I have not divorced you, you won't survive a week in the street. And let me make this clear, I never got married to you because I loved you or I wanted to be the mother of your children. I got married to you because I am a business woman who has a lot on her and I needed someone to do the chores."
Defeated, Richard turned around to leave, he had added salt to his sore. Victoria stopped him. "I am not done with you." Go to my drawer, you will find something, bring it to me. At the word, Richard matched to the drawer by the left of the bed and got the white business suit for Victoria. "It's for you," Victoria announced.
A smile hovered on Richard's lips.
"Don't think too much about it, I don't want you to look like a thrash before all my relatives tonight, I still have some sense of dignity if you do not. Hope the living room is in perfect order now."
"Yes, ma."
"Please go take your bath, you stink. I don't want you to suffocate my relatives when they come around, with your odor."
Richard left the room and headed for the kitchen. He got the suit Victoria got him and checked it out, it wasn't his size. "I can't wear this, I will have to go by whatever I have," Richard thought. He sighed. He fell to the ground with his back resting on the kitchen wall. This time, tears flowed down freely from his eyes and he didn't restrain them. "At times, it's alright to cry," he sobbed.
The dinner hall meant for the meeting was filled with Victoria's relatives They were already seated, waiting for lady Tashia, the overall leader of the family's business group and her only surviving daughter, Mrs. Lucis. She took over the business group after the death of her husband and the empire met a great turn around but she was just as mean and cruel as her first granddaughter, she hated Richard with passion. "This place doesn't seem right, isn't there supposed to be a servant here, or are you going to attend to all of us," Rachael, Victoria's junior sister inquired. "She already got one, her garbage of a husband has nothing doing, he will take care of that," Charles noted. "Where is he, I didn't see him anywhere around when I came in," Rachael said. "I think Victoria locked him up for breaking a dish or doing something bad," Francisca joins the discussion. "Guys, don't you have any other thing to discuss apart from Richard, we came here to discuss something very impor
Richard crawled up the stairs to the room Ken requested to see him. When he got to the room, he was exhausted, streams of sweat running down his face. He unlocked the door and stepped into the room still on his knees. Immediately, Ken recognized his presence. He turned around and was shocked to see Richard on his knees. "Young master!" he exclaimed, helping Richard to get up. "Thanks, Ken," Richard appreciated. "Who did this to you," Ken requested. "There is no need to tell you, besides, if you knew, what will you do." "I will get the person arrested right away, these people are so inhuman, they have sold their souls to the devil. "There is no need for that Ken, I chose this path myself. So why did you call me up here?" "First master, I am very sorry for everything I said down there." "First, you don't have to be sorry," Richard chuckled. "You were only following my orders. Second, my name is Richard, I am not a young master, I will really appreciate it if you call me b
Ken journeyed down the stairs while Richard linger a little longer in the empty room. He planned to make the family go bankrupt and ranked the bottom ten but how will he execute his plans. He remembered that Victoria was still part of the family. He was sorry for all the pains he had cost her. Though she treated him like the rest of the family. He remembered the first few months they got married, she stood firmly behind him when her mom objected their marriage. Eventually, Mrs. Lucis flew out of the country and did not witness her daughter's wedding ceremony. For the first few months, Victoria showered him with love and Richard thought he made the best decision to get married to her. Until Mrs. Lucis returned and Victoria turned into what she is now. Richard sighed. Meanwhile, Ken had gotten to the dining hall, and everyone were almost done with their meal. "How did it go," Charles said sarcastically. "You guys were right, he is really a no-good fellow," Ken said. "I warned
When the meeting was over, Victoria and Richard stayed away from each. Victoria's countenance was indifferent so Richard could not tell if she was actually angry with him. Richard remained at the dining hall cleaning up the place. "I hope she doesn't get too angry, I just need more time," Richard thought. Meanwhile Victoria lay on the large bed video chatting with her cousin, Emmie, she was not opportune to attend the party. "How was the party," Emmie inquired. "It was successful," Victoria replied with a smile. "I can see through you and I don't need a soothsayer to know I wasn't." "How do you mean." "My sister told me everything that happened." Victoria sighed. "Then what is this chat for." "Victoria you can't keep doing this to yourself, you need to divoice that man and get someone more suitable for you. "I am not complaining." "Just looked at the embarrassment he caused you today. I was even informed that he made aunt faint at the party." "That is not what happe
" Wake up sleeping head," Richard heard someone screaming. It was Victoria and she was looking furious. Immediately Richard noticed that it was already morning and he was filled with awe. He had over slept. "I am very sorry Victoria, I will prepare your meal right away," Richard apologized. "Right now, do you know what the time is?" Victoria yelled. "I am very sorry," Richard apologized again. "Will your apology put food on my table? Oh, I know why you did this, cause I made you sleep on the floor in the kitchen right." "No, Victoria, I will never do that." "You want me to go to work on an empty stomach as a punishment right," Victoria said angrily and attempted to slap Richard but Richard stop hands halfway in the air. He was so emotionally down and he needed some love, not another trouble. Richard and Victoria exchanged a meaningful glances as they did when they first meant. Then Richard did the forbidden, he kissed Victoria passionately. At first, Victoria liked it t
Richard was exhausted. He just finished washing the pile of dirty clothes Victoria left before leaving for work. Clumsily, he journeyed to the master bedroom and fell face-up on the bed. "Life sucks," he exclaimed. Then, his phone rang. The caller was Victoria. "Hello," Richard greeted. "Please come get me for work, I am feeling dizzy and can't drive." "But," Richard tried to say something but he changed his mind. "Are you trying to say something?" "'Yes, how will I get to your office, I don't have money to get a cab." "That's why I called you two hours earlier, you know what to do," Victoria ended and hanged up. When Richard eventually got to the office, he was in-between life and death. Victoria was already standing beside the car. She was staring at her wristwatch. "What took you so long? Or did you go to visit a female friend?" Richard was mute. Please start the car, I am exhausted. Richard got into the car and started the engine. Halfway through their journey,
"So what are you going to do about Richard," Rachael continued. "That would not pose a problem, we will cross that bridge when we get to it." "The fact that he took my Virginity will be enough to convince him that I am not married before now. As for Richard, a few dollars will shut him up," Victoria thought. "I will break this good news to mum tomorrow," Rachael ended and hung up. "Why are you staring at me that way," Victoria inquired. "I never knew the woman I got married to was this shameless." "Call me shameless again and you will rot the jail and I assure you, nobody will miss you." "But I thought you hated the Armstrong family," Richard said. "When did we discuss anything about the Armstrongs," Victoria inquired. "During our courtship." "I said that because I was jealous. But that doesn't matter now, I will soon be married to one of them." "You won't dare," Richard threatened. "You don't have to worry, I will persuade grandma to compensate you with a milli
At late Mr. Davis Armstrong's Villa. At about three am, Ken pulled the cover away from his body, so as not to disturb Danxo, the man assigned to keep a close eye on him. His mission tonight was to take a shot of the evidence that states Williams as Mr. Davis's true murderer and send It to Richard. It was a short note written by Mr. Davis with his signature before his death. Ken knew he would not be able to keep it for long in the Villa, before one of Willam's guards find it. When he returned to the Villa, he informed Williams that he had been away for a while because his mother was very sick and the former owner of the Villa permitted him to go and take care of his sick mother. Though Williams had some doubt about the former security officer, Ken knew he was going to retain him. Especially, to keep a close eye on him. Immediately Ken was retained, he was assigned to share a new room with Danxo but he knew that his new roommate's mission was to keep a close eye on him. A countl
Lawrence stood there as more large lumps went down his spine like large stones thrown down into a rusty tunnel and cold shivers ran down his spine. He stared into the man before him, staring at him with an evil smile hovering on his face and he felt like tearing that smile away from his dark face. "Just walked into your trap, did you?" Divo said to Lawrence. "I knew that this was the perfect bait to get you," he added to what he had earlier said. "I knew that something was you walked passed us the other day," Lawrence whispered out loud still shaking with great fear and trembling like a little child about to be locked away in a dark scary room. "But how were you able to find out that I had caught you?" Lawrence thought aloud. At this, Divo stepped towards him while he gradually moved backward, and at a point, he stop and shot a glare at Lawrence. "Well let us say I just got to know that you were spying on me from the way you stared at me that day when I walked by that day. I was
Richard shivered hard with fear and cold shivers ran down his spine as the first set of whips created bold lines on his body. The whips felt like a surge of electric current all around him and he shivered hard at their effect. He wanted to scream out due to the pian as little drop of tears escaped from his eyes but he was able to restrain himself. "Don't cry Richard, you have to be strong," he said to himself. "You think you are strong right, we will see how long you will be able to hold on to this," Gerald said with a hateful glare hanging on his face. "Whip," another whip landed on Richard's head making him groan in pain. "Hmmm," Richard groaned in pain."Such a harden fool," Mrs. Luci gasped angrily. "Why don't you just do what you are asked to and cut shot your pain?" Rachael gasped irritated by his self-acclaimed endurance. "I can no longer take this," Richard said to himself. Richard lifted his head and his eyes met with Victoria's. She didn't even show the slightest
"It is a great suggestion but we cannot deny the fact that I am married to someone," Victoria returned almost immediately. Mrs. Luci turned towards Victoria the very instant she heard what her daughter just threw out of her mouth and she shot a glare at her. "Do you even enjoy living with that slut?" Mrs. Luci inquired trying hard to control a total outburst since Victoria was the center of attraction there. Victoria sighed inwardly, she might sometimes act like she hated Richard passionately but it was still worth it seeing him around. The fact was just that most of the time, her disgust for him and hatred always overshadowed her soft heart toward him. "Did you even hear what I just said?" Mrs. Luci inquired snapping her off her thoughts. "It's not that mum. You don't seem to get the point that I am trying to make here. The problem is not with me, it's with Richard," Victoria replied quickly. "How? Does he have a say in a matter like this?" Mrs. Luci inquired. "He doesn't b
On that fateful Saturday morning, the morning that was going to decide Richard's and Victoria's finally state as it concerned their martial life, Victoria sat on the sofa in the living room, chatting with a friend on her phone and gradally sipping freshly squeezed orange juice. Meanwhile, Richard went about the daily business in the house. His hands, his feet and every part of his body ached bad but he just couldn't stop. Then, the doorbell rang twice and Victoria Rose from the sofa to scream Richard's name. "Richard..." She yelled at the top of her voice. Immediately Richard heard her name, she came running up to her like a little child to his wicked step aunty. When he got to her, his racing face was covered with sweat and he could hardly breathe. "You called me," he said in between trying hard to catch his breath. "I know I called you dummy," Victoria thundered. "Didn't you hear that someone rang the doorbell?" She growled at him. "Oh! I was busy inside," Richard noted and
Kindsley pulled his eyes away from the gun on the table laying the far end and returned his gaze to Lawrence. He might have informed somebody that he was going to find out about this ID. He knew that Lawrence was never the perfect person for an investigation team, so he might be working alongside with somebody who might smell something fishy immediatelys he gets missing."There is nothing wrong with card," Kinsley said quickly and returned the card back to Lawrence. "Are you sure?" Lawrence inquired with his eyes narrowed. He could not believe that the card was geniue, it was just too good to be true. "I think you did inspect it enough," Lawrence added. "Nah, I did all that inspection. The card is very much genuine," Kinsley revealed. "But..." Lawrence tried to oppose but Kinsley stopped him immediately. "I know why you are suspicious. It's the unque background of the card which is owned by a very high standing company," Kingsley revealed. "But I must say that you had a very
Lawrence stared at them with his heart divided against itself. His was left in such a dilemma that he shivered hard and his hearte ran cold. "What should I do now, Should I tell them or not?" multiple thoughts sprang up from his head. He drew a deep breath and decided not to inform them about it . He was going to get enough proof to make them believe that the ID card was perfectly forged. Lawrence slipped the ID card into his pockets as silently as he could and continued to stare at them as if nothing had happened at all. "I think we will have to go now and continue with our investigations," Ken announced. "Thanks for your massive help and cooperation," he appreciated warmly."You are welcome, anything for my boss's friends," she replied with a warm smile hanging on her face. Ken and Lawrence turned to leave immediately while Lawrence's heart continued to pound against his chest. "How am I going to prove my point to this dummy," he thought. He continued to think and finally
Tina continued to stare at him, her heart torn apart against itself. But she certainly could not go against the instructions of her boss, she would have to seek his consent first. "I will have to arrange a meeting with you and the manager, if he decides otherwise, I will have no say, but if accepts your proposal, I will send the proposed date to you," Evelyn explained. "We are very sorry for the inconveniences this might cause you," Evelyn regretted all she just said. Divo grinned at her with his anger stepping up gradually to his neck. He could not believe that this stupid company wanted him to return there. "Who does this fool thinks he is? Whoever this proud slut is, he is certainly worth eliminating and I will do it with great pleasure in my heart," he thought angrily. "What do you mean by all this you are saying," he thundered at Evelyn. "It's our company's policy, you can't see the manager until he requests to see you," Evelyn tried to calm him down but he refused to be
Meanwhile, at the Armstrong headquarters, something else was happening. Divo walked towards the large gate of the headquarters to continue with his assassination mission. A smile hovered on his face as he thought about the cruel death he was going to give to Richmond. "That's why I am the beast of the underworld," he laughed loudly. When he eventually got to the large gate, the security officer posted there stopped him almost immediately. immediately. "Hey," the security officer stopped him as he attempted to walk by without check. Divo turned around slowly and shot a grin at the security officer. "Hey," he returned. "What's is your mission here?" he inquired. "My mission? If you care to know, it is to get your boss and rip his head off frot his neck with my bare hands. After which I would take his rottening scule to my employers," Divo thought with a deadly smile on his face. "I asked you a question Mr," the security officer reminded, snapping him off his evil thoughts. "I
Meanwhile, Mrs. Luci's phone beeped silently at the side of her bed. Immediately she saw the name of the caller, her heart skipped a beat. It was the agent in charge of their goods ordered from outside the country. She just couldn't wait to hear that the goods had landed safely. "Good day mam," the agent greeted. "Good day to you too," Lady Tashia replied. "So how did it go?" She inquired. "Hmmm," the agent lingered a little before answering her question. Mrs. Luci's left hand shook violently as he waited for a response from the goods agent... "Nothing can go wrong," she said to herself as she continued to shiver. "T..the go..ods were seized by the custom service ma," the agent finally let out. "What!!!" Mrs. Victoria exclaimed. She rose forcefully out of her bed almost immediately. Her raging feets hit the hard surface as she moved up and down the room in a distressed manner. "What do you mean by that? For a job I paid you?" She fired. "Mam I tried my best, I swear," h
