Well, that plan could wait for a while.
<You know, I can’t even peek at your brain anymore, so why not just tell me about the plan?>
‘You will know when the time comes.’
Yeah, he would know when the time comes, which would take a while. I had no plans of rushing even if I wanted to climb the tower right now. That would only lead to my downfall. For now, what I had to do was…
“Classes…”
Why did I feel like I had to have a high school life? Maybe no one can answer that. But now that the deed was done, I had no way of reverting back. I had to play along with the ‘student’ identity so as to not draw any unnecessary attention.
“Let’s just get over with it…”
I began to pace towards my classroom. My footsteps were buried in the gossip and shouts of the excited students gathered here.
“Hey, what are you going to do after classes, Erza~?”
“Huh? Oh, I am going to hit the cafe, or maybe the training arena.”
“Wow~ so cool~”
The pair of the annoying girl and the stoic girl made me feel a little iffy. I didn’t know if this was intuition or not, but I felt like I should stay away from them, especially the one with the indifferent eyes… Erza.
But oh well, not like she could do anything to me. If she came to bother my plans, I could simply chop her head off and feed her to the Great Serpents on the fifth floor (from The Book).
I kept on walking towards Mercy.
***
“Fuu…”
Mercy. I didn’t know who chose this name but he sure had a very bad sense of naming. And I knew it, this place would show anything but mercy to me.
<Like you are one to talk.>
‘Shut up.’
Creak…
I turned the doorknob and the clicking sound of the door entered my ears softly.
‘Don’t forget. Be cold and indifferent.’
The best method to prevent anyone from approaching me was to dismiss them even before they had a chance to talk to me.
Maybe I was about to miss one of the most important things of high school life, but I didn’t care. I liked it this way.
I opened the door and marched forward. In an instant, all 50 pairs of eyes fell on me.
To be precise, it was my hair that caught their attention. Even though my appearance was never actually revealed to the world, the whole tower knew about the perpetrator of the School Massacre. Ominous white hair that strikes fear, red eyes that crave for bloodshed, a devilish smile taking pleasure from death and excruciating screams, and finally, the name, Ken Raizer—that’s what the world knew about me. But now, other than the hair, there were no other features that indicated that I was the devilish demon that slaughtered over 120 lives.
“Hey, that guy…”
Ah, I had almost forgotten this feeling of alienation. Humans are fundamentally evil and would do anything to satiate their selfish needs, even if it is as trivial as having fun.
And I was an easy target to have fun with my wavy white hair.
I walked ahead with my eyes staying indifferent to their piercing gazes. For the record, when I use Arte, my eyes turn bloody-red and at other times, it’s black. That’s why I was able to stay clear till now.
I looked over the class and found a lonely seat in one corner of the class. And just as I expected, as soon as I started to make my way towards that seat, some feet ruffled and quickly got off the seat around my destination. They were practically declaring I was going to be bullied as hell.
‘Heh… kids.’
<You are a kid too.>
‘Maybe.’
<What ‘maybe’? You ARE one.>
‘Shut up, you are annoying.’
Anyway, a free seat was waiting for me now.
“Oh…?”
Well, high schools were convenient at least. In middle school, I had to carry a burden full of notebooks on my back, but now, the things I needed were all in this… this small box.
Dimensional Storage, a very common artefact the tower gifted us humans, a demon in my case. The name’s pretty self-explanatory, it acts as storage by storing things in another dimension, if I may.
“Hmm…”
For now, I took a seat and began to ponder. What were my plans? Well, that was obvious. There was a dungeon right below this school and there was a hidden piece too, a hidden piece that would raise my stats, five-folds, no, ten-folds.
“Keke…”
I hadn’t even realized and I was grinning.
Slam—
The door was kicked open with a roaring noise. My eyes turned to the person that kicked the door with such passion. If possible, I wanted to kill him for interrupting my train of thoughts. But, well, almost every teacher here could either burn me to ashes or freeze me to death with a single flick of their finger.
“Woah~ this class sure is packed with a lot of strong ones.”
That was true. Almost 90% of this class were special and talented. But of course, they were weaker than me. There were even wide-known prodigies among the people here.
“Huhu… this will be fun. Anyway! My name is Jenice Ryne! And I am going to be in charge of Mercy and supervise you chicks grow this year.”
A towering stature, muscles bulging out like inflated balloons, and eyes filled with burning passion and ambition. Also, a stupid grin on her face.
…this woman will surely be a bothersome person.
“Haa…”
I sighed quietly but apparently, the sigh didn’t escape her eyes as she was staring at me with an amused expression. What was there to be amused?
I returned her stare with coldness.
“Haha, I am getting the cold shoulder already?”
The students looked at each other and turned around to the teacher, clearly confused by her sudden statement. But Jenice simply shrugged, laughing.
“Let’s start the class then!”
I was already regretting coming here…
***
…the classes ended and I was completely exhausted. I’d rather train for hours.
I wanted to fall on the bed and let dreams take control of my brain but my feet were off to somewhere else, a place no one knew about.
When the Tower first appeared two years before my birth, people who entered the Tower from Earth searched the First Floor relentlessly and even found some things they couldn’t understand. They tried to comprehend and find something new but all in vain. They stopped their search and concluded that the First Floor was a place to stay, and proceeded to make their habitat.
It was understandable.
There were no monsters whatsoever, the place was not hostile and provided a perfect place to build homes, and plenty of strange animals non-existent on Earth as food.
But they made a mistake…
“And this was their mistake.”
An ordinary boulder with slightly strange patterns. The full moon was gently embracing the boulder and me at the same time vividly and it revealed the ‘switch’.
I took out a wooden block. It was shaped as if to cover everything but a precisely carved design. I put everything I had to make it and if it didn’t work, I’d be really pissed.
“Fuu…”
After taking a deep breath, I hovered the wood over the switch. I didn’t need anything else for this work. The wood was the keyhole, and the key was…
“The moonlight.”
The moonlight seeped into the carving and a click resounded.
“It worked…”
And now, it was time to move.

An unbelievable stench filled the place along with the eerie air that sent chills down one's spine. I walked with a bit of wariness. Of course, the Book said that there was no danger around here, but I had nothing to lose from being wary, did I? 'What?' '...you know about this place?' 'How?' Was it natural for a demon to know everything? Didn't seem like that to me. "Hmm… this place, maybe?" The empty sounds of my footsteps stopped when I came across the strange engravings. Though the whole place was filled with patterns strange enough for me to carefully observe each one of those, this thing was even stranger. Though it was not mentioned in detail in the Book, I was sure this place was the entrance to the real dungeon and there I would get one of the most important pieces of the Tower that could only be found on the First Floor. But for now… "I have to get this thing opened." I walked to it slowly, being cautious of th
‘What was that?!’With trembling hands, the girl covered her mouth so as not to let out even a chip of sound. The horrible stench of beast corpses filled every gap in the air. And, while she hid behind the huge rock, she kept on pondering.‘What was that?! Could that person even be called human?!’Even though an unbelievable number pounced on that person, the massacre that followed it was terrifying, sending chills to the girl every time that person moved. He was unfazed, almost used to the bloodshed he was causing. Like a serial killer, he planned before doing anything. Even when his throat was about to fly, he stayed calm and just before the beasts could do anything, flesh tore apart and dark fluid splattered everywhere in the illumination. It was terrifying to watch, but it was too beautiful to avert her gaze. He was like a demon.“...”‘It has gone quiet all of a sudden.’Her head was filled with curiosity. She was scared at first, scared of her life being ripped like those beas
How? Just how did this happen? Just a day ago I was laughing, playing, and eating with mom and dad. Even though I was cast outside the society, I never felt sad because of my parents, because they were with me at every step of my life. But now that they were no more, what was I supposed to do?I sat beside their grave, kept asking the same questions over and over. Why did they leave me? Was I not a good kid? Did I fail to live up to their expectations? Did they not find me useful? Well, upon thinking, the lattermost is most likely, after all, what use is there of a 9-year-old Potential-less kid in this world of dog-eat-dog.But still, was all of the love and affection they showered at me despite being Potential-less all a lie? Did the time we spent mean nothing to them? I wanted to believe it was not, I really wanted to, but I couldn't. I could no longer face away from the inevitable. The elder priest came over to me holding a piece of paper."I believe t
"Wah!"I was in bed and it seemed like I had just woken up from a nightmare.I quickly glanced at my body. There were no wounds or any signs of blood. I turned my head to the left and saw the same scenery I always see outside my apartment- dark, dirty, and shady."Is this... my apartment?"My head was in a quell. There were a lot of things going inside my head."How am I still alive? I am pretty sure I died back then. How did I even get here? Normally, people would ignore my dead body. Who brought me here?"<Ah. I see that you are awake.>"Uwah!"The sudden voice in my head made me stumble and fall headfirst on the floor. It hurt. I almost lost the sensation of pain after my parents' death. When I jumped from my school building and crashed onto the ground, my body reacted to the pain but not my mind. It seems like I was revitalized now that I can feel pain."Who... who are you?" I asked with my face full of horror.
Lan started his tale. We were no more in that disgusting space and now we were in my room, me sitting on the bed and Lan leaning against the single door in my room with a distance of hardly 3 meters. My room was never big to begin. It was more of a shed to me. "Demons, you humans probably know of them as horrendous creatures who are only known for killing and other horrendous deeds. Well, that's true for some of us, but not all of us. We are just like you humans, just with horns and wings." He paused for a bit to let me digest the things he said. I never believed in demons in the first place. And now someone I don't know suddenly says that demons are like us. How am I supposed to believe that? "How can I believe you?" "Wait. Before that let me finish my story." "Fine." He continued his tale. "We live in a different dimension than you humans." "Is it hell?" "Is that what you humans call our place? Really, you hum
The message in front of my eyes filled my heart with raging ecstasy and filled my body with adrenaline. The articulate voice of a male filled the canals of my ears and dropped right inside my brain.I didn't know what this was nor did I know what was going to happen. All I knew is that this was where the real fun starts.<Yeah, you hit the bullseye once again. Aren't ya pretty lucky?>"Can I please get a bit of privacy?"<Yeah yeah, whatever.>"Hm... so, what's this message's deal?"<You wanna know?>"Yeah if I wanna kill that fuckin' BITCH?"<Why are you emphasizing that specific word too much?>"Cools my head."It's true. It really cools my head when I imagine that BITCH wriggling on her stomach and moaning in agony, begging me for mercy, and me stepping on her and crushing her nether regions and mouth. Go- I mean, Satan, I feel so good right now.<Woah... you are quite extreme.
"Huff huff huff..."I panted heavily as my feet continued to work. I must have completed at least 10km and with all the push-ups and squats I did, it must have been a great gain. My frail body was energetic again. This was truly a splendid feeling. I could run like the other kids of my age and drench my body in sweat.<The system really gave you a hell lot of energy.>"I know right?"<Still gonna run?>"Nah, not anymore. I am going to do some exercises before going home. I bet no one wants to see trash like me doing exercises.<Self-burn? Now that's rare.>"Not for long."<You gotta get a hold of the system first.>"Hmm... it should have popped up by now..."<What?>Tring!{Daily training complete}"Sweet!"<How... did you?>"You see, in RPGs, you have to do some specific actions to gain some EXP without grinding, and that is called training. I
Sigh... I really don't want to go to that accursed place, but I am gonna fall behind from the one thing I am best at if I don't go.<Any memories you wanna share?>"About that place?"<Yeah.>"Hmm... all I have are dark memories. Still wanna listen?"<Yes, but actually no.>"Decide on one thing."<Nghhh... okay, I want to listen.>Why push yourself if you don't wanna do it? Are all demons pushover like this one? I wish they are not. Ah, but they are no more alive. Sad...I locked the door to my apartment and started for my school which was almost 1km away, which I have to cover all by my feet. This might sound so pitiful but still, I am gonna say it. I live in a secluded area devoid of any transportation or anything like that. Even if there was any transportation, I could not afford to waste my money on it. All this place has to offer are thieves, brutes, rapists- women and men both- and other dar
