It was already daybreak and Mason scarcely got any sleep. With the loud chattering and stomping of feet, he was forced to wake up.

Grunting, Mason lifted his body from the stiff bed. After going through a brief session of stretching and yawning, he made his way toward the door.

He opened up the door only to be met by lancing hazel eyes. Mason's orbs popped out as they saw whom those eyes were owned by.

"U-uncle Roger," Mason stuttered as he recalled what he saw.

Uncle Roger who had a void expression on his face stood like he had not noticed the surprised look on Mason's face.

Mason on the other hand thought that if he threatened to blackmail Uncle Roger, he might let him off the leash.

"Madam Quinn has requested your presence," Uncle Roger told sternly and Mason nodded, trailing behind him as they walked.

Mason could already hear Quinn's voice, nearly bringing down the roofs and he knew it had everything single thing to do with him.

The creases on her brow hinted at a mind preoccupied by something beyond the room's confines. The gentle rise and fall of her chest marked the rhythm of her breath, a rhythm that seemed to be the only indication of life in her stillness. She stared at the ceiling above with no meaning. Her mind was adrift, carried away by currents of thoughts that were invisible to anyone else. The events of last were still fresh in her mind.A sense of vulnerability lingered around her, the vulnerability of a mind grappling with its own complexities. The color had drained from her usually vibrant complexion, leaving her skin pale and almost translucent in its fragility. Her lips that were adorned with a gentle curve smile that never seemed to stop smiling, were now slightly parted in a wordless expression of shock. As her trembling hand lifted, fingers lightly touching her lips as if to reassure herself that they were real, the unease in her eyes deepened.
