Saanvi thought, We have to get out of here! But I can't look away from it. It's like its eyes are holding me hostage. What's wrong with me?! Move Saanvi! Move!

Saanvi felt someone shake her and she heard Ryder's muffled voice saying, "Saanvi! Come on! We need to go! He's coming closer!"

It felt as though everything was in slow motion.

Saanvi slowly turned her head to Ryder. She saw his worried face as he tried to get her to move.

She turned her head to the staircase where the Devil was. But it wasn't at the staircase anymore... It was right in front of them.

The Devil stood barely a few feet away from them as it lifted its hand behind its head, getting ready to hit them. Before the Devil could hit her, Ryder pushed Saanvi to the ground.

She fell on her butt and saw the Devil's hand hit Ryder on the back. She heard him cry out in pain.

Ryder flew into the wall behing her. He hit the wall with a loud BOOM! that echoed across the mansion’s walls.

Saanvi got out of the trance and got up and ran to him. “Ryder!" Saanvi yelled. She fell to her knees next to him.

His back faced her and he wasn’t moving, so she carefully turned him over. "Ryder?" She whispered.

Ryder had a long and deep cut on his forehead dripping blood all over his face.

Saanvi shook him, trying to wake him up but he wouldn't open his eyes. She shook him again and yelled his name. She begged him to wake up.

Saanvi wiped tears off her face with her bloody hands, leaving red streaks on her face. She checked him for a pulse and saw that it was very low.

Saanv let out a half a relieved sigh. He was unconscious, but he was barely holding on.

Saanvi felt the ground shake behind her. She knew what it was and didn't want to look. But she did anyways.

Saanvi slowly turned around and saw the Devil standing right behind her. It towered over her, creating a long shadow to go over Saanvi and Ryder.

Saanvi got up and pulled out her gun. She shot its head yelling curses at it until she ran out of bullets. She took deep breaths as she noticed that the Devil didn't even flinch or stumble. It just looked down at her as the bullets fell back out of its head.

Saanvi had to cover her head as protection from the dropping bullets.

Once Saanvi looked back up, the Devil's wounds had already healed. It let out a low rumble from its throat. It sounded like it was laughing at her.

Saanvi threw her empty gun at it and screamed in frustration. She knew that there was nothing else she could do.

The Devil blocked her way to get to the front door. She could never make it before it caught her. Even if she could make it to the door, she couldn't leave Ryder alone. He risked his life for her and she wouldn't leave him to die.

She thought of the things she could do to save her and Ryder. But sadly... None of them would work.

There was no way she would make it out of this alive.

But she wouldn't go down without a fight.

Saanvi ran in between the Devil's legs to the other wall on the opposite side of the room. It slowly turned around and walked toward her. Once it was a few feet away, Saanvi ran through the staircases to where she first saw it and looked back at the Devil. It started to run after Saanvi and was about to kick her but she rolled out of the way just in time.

She ran back to Ryder and the Devil came at her, much faster now. It seemed like it was getting frustrated.

Saanvi tried to run to the other wall again, but the Devil cut her off by slamming its fist on the ground in front of her. She screamed. The Devil's fist made the ground shake and she almost fell but she caught herself.

She tried to run the other way, to the staircases, but it slammed it's fist again, blocking her way. Saanvi then tried to run back to Ryder but the Devil's fist blocked her path.

It was playing the game of cat and mouse with her.

Before she could think of another idea to try to run away, the Devil hit her into the wall next to the door with his left hand. She flew into the wall and fell to the ground.

Saanvi groaned and tried to push herself up with her arms but she fell back down, face first.

Saanvi groaned and tried to flip herself over but she didn't have the strength. Her arms felt like noodles, and she could feel blood slidding down her face down to the floor. She couldn’t tell where she was bleeding from.

The room became dizzy and everything on her body hurt. Her eyes started to close no matter how hard she tried to keep them open.

Saanvi had her eyes half closed as she felt the Devil stomp toward her. She soon felt large hands lifting her up by her torso. She turned to see the Devil picking her up.

As it turned around to take her somewhere, she saw Ryder lying on the ground. The Devil didn't pick him up and take him with them. It seemed like the Devil forgot about him.

"Ryder," Saanvi mumbled. She reached her hand out toward him even though she couldn't reach him. She closed her her hand into a weak fist.

The Devil walked through the staircases and to the left into a hallway. Saanvi wasn't able to see Ryder anymore so she watched where the Devil was taking her.

They walked through the enormous hallway. The Devil had brought her down some stairs, into a huge room. The room had electric torches covering the walls lighting up the whole room. That's when Saanvi noticed the walls had red stains all over it. It looked like red hand prints dragged along the walls.

Where is the Devil taking me? And why are there red smeared hands prints all over the wall?

The Devil walled through another hallway leading to a door. The last thing Saanvi remembered was smelling a horrible stench. She smelt the most disgusting smell she had ever experienced before. It was nauseating.

What is that horrible smell? And where is it taking me?

The Devil opened up a door in front of them making the smell even more sickening. It threw Saanvi on soft ground that felt wet.

Why is the ground wet? And why does it feel soft?

The Devil slammed the door and she could feel it stomp away. Before Saanvi could think of anything else, she passed out, letting the darkness consume her.

Pain shot throughout her body making her bring her arms back down and curl into a ball to ease the pain. Where am I? What happened? Saanvi thought to herself. Saanvi saw a woman lying face up with her mouth open as if she was stuck in a silent scream. Saanvi looked over the woman’s body and realized that she was dead. The woman's face was pale with all the blood drained out of her. Her clothes were torn and bloody. Ryder "Come on, you have wake up before they come back," a male voice said in Ryder's ear. The male voice shook Ryder, trying to wake him up. Ryder groaned and slowly opened his eyes to see a man in front of him. The man had straight black hair that hung over his eyes. He was also very muscular like Ryder. The man wore a clean white short sleeve shirt underneath an opened black button down shirt. The man wore tan jeans with an expensive looking brown belt. "Oh good, you are awake now. We have to leave before those things come back," the man said, getting up and putting a hand out for Ryder to grab. "What happened?" Ryder asked as he grabbed the man's hand. The man lifted him up and said, "I heard a loud boom when I was upstairs and I came to see what had made the sound. That is when I found you lying on the floor." Ryder said, "Thanks for helping me. I don't know what would've happened to me if you didn't help." Ryder suddenly realized the man's heig

Saanvi Saanvi walked through the bloody hallway underneath the house. It was dimly lit and she could barely see 5 feet in front of her. She put her hands in front of her, protecting her from slamming her face into a wall like she had a few times before. Saanvi had been walking for a while and wondered when the hallway would end. Saanvi continued to walk but slowed to a stop and squinted her eyes. She thought she saw a shadow darker than the shadows surrounding it. She slowly took a few steps closer to the darker shadow. She squinted harder and and thought she could an outline of red horns way above her. That's when she realized what it was. It was the Devil and it was standing right in front of the stairway that led upstairs. To Ryder. And to the escape. She slowly stepped backward and tripped over her own feet. She gasped when she thought the Devil might've seen and heard her but realized it hadn't moved. Saanvi felt a mix of confusion, fear, and cur

Ryder Ryder panted, clutching his stomach as he reached the top of the stairs. Lucifer walked past him and looked down both hallways. Pointing to the right he said, "It's this way. Come on." Lucifer lead Ryder through the huge hallway. The tall ceiling towered above them. There were huge windows on their left and many red doors on their right. In between every red door, there was an electrical torch that lit up the hallway, allowing them to see ahead of them. Outside the windows it was dark and Ryder wondered how long he was passed out of the floor. I'm so lucky that Luci found me before the demons did, Ryder thought as he limped behind Luci. They continued walking and when Ryder thought he wouldn't be able to go any father, Luci said, "Here we are." He stopped in front of a black door and said, "This is where I have been staying." Luci opened the door to reveal the most beautiful and massive room Ryder had ever seen. Ryder stepped inside the room and looked inside.

Saanvi Saanvi limped through the dark hallway, clutching her stomach with one hand and using the wall for support with the other. She stopped hearing the Devil’s cries of pain a little while ago and was both relived and guilty. She felt bad about hurting it but she also didn't. The Devil had killed eight innocent people and it was going to kill her and Ryder next. But Saanvi also couldn’t stand to see anything in pain. As she walked through the hallway, she thought, I’m sorry, but you made me. Saanvi didn’t know how long she had been walking and her stomach was hurting more and more after each step. She needed to rest but there were no doors down this long hallway. As Saanvi walked through the hallway, she thought, I must've turned the wrong way at the stairs. I'm sure the Devil didn't take me through this long hallway. Saanvi sighe. I should've went the other way... Too late now. I'm not going to go all the way back. I need to rest. • The Devil's House   Chapter 9

Ryder Ryder opened his eyes. He immediately closed again when a streak of blinding light hit his eye. Ryder groaned and opened them again, slower this time. He let his eyes adapt to the bright light. He turned his head to the left to see a bowl of water and a bloody towel on the nightstand. He turned his head to the right and saw the curtains pulled away from the window. Ryder sat up and winced at the pain from his ribcage. He looked in front of him and saw Luci coming out from the bathroom. He looked like he had just gotten out of a shower with a white towel around his waist as he used a smaller one to dry his hair. Ryder slowly got up and asked, "You took a shower?" "Yeah. Why? What is wrong?" Luci asked, walking over to him. "I just thought that we shouldn't do that. What if the demons heard us? Or worse... The Devil." "They're not allowed in here," Luci said, sitting on the enormous bed. "What?" Ryder said, staring at Luci. Luci paused a moment befo

  • The Devil's House   Chapter 10

Saanvi Saanvi sniffled and lifted herself off the floor. She turned around and looked at the door behind her. Bits of wood had fallen off when the demons had banged on the door. Saanvi didn’t realize they had stopped hitting the door until she stopped crying a little while ago. She didn’t want to open the door even after the banging stopped. She was too scared to step foot outside this room. She thought they might be out there. Waiting for her. Saanvi placed her hand on the doorknob. She kept it there for a while, not moving. She knew she couldn’t stay there forever. She had to leave at some point. Better now than later, she thought to herself. Saanvi turned the doorknob and slowly opened the door. It creaked quietly. She opened the door until she had a small gap so she could see the outside hallway. There was light from the windows that lit up the hallway. It’s already daytime? I wonder how long I’ve been in here. The room Saanvi was in didn’t have any windows

    Chapter 16

Saanvi Saanvi got up from the spot she had been sitting down for hours. She had just been thinking about Justice and the man. Saanvi had thought about Justice. She didn't deserve this, she had thought to herself. She didn't deserve to die. And neither did the other officer. Saanvi had thought about the man. Flashes of Justice being killed by him had flashed in her mind. She saw his black eyes. His sword on Justice's neck. Him cutting her throat open. Blood spilling out. Justice dropping to the floor. She remebered when she had ran up to Justice, screaming. She had expected to be killed as well but when she had looked back up, they were all gone. She had so many questions. But two were the most important. Where'd they go? Why didn't they kill me too? Saanvi sighed and looked down at Justice's dead body. "I'm so sorry, Justice," Saanvi whispered. A tear drop rolled down her cheek and she didn't bother to wipe it. "You didn't deserve this.

    Chapter 15

Ryder Ryder twisted and turned on the couch. His ribs ached. He was only able to sleep for what seemed like a few minutes. He sat up and groaned at the pain shooting throughout his torso. Ryder looked at the bookshelves full of books. Saanvi would love this place. She always reads in her free time. Ryder sighed and put his head in his hands. She should be here. With me. Safe. Not scared like she probably is right now… If she’s still alive, one part of him thought. Saanvi is alive! Don’t think like that! She’s probably just scared. Or dead. She could be dead. No! I won’t accept that! She’s alive! How would you know? Ryder paused. He tried to find an answer. He tried to find a reason she could be alive. She’s strong. She wouldn’t give up easily, Ryder concluded. He didn’t want to continue the battle in his head. He didn’t want to think that she could be dead. She could’ve died a while ago. No! She could’ve died r

Saanvi Saanvi and Justice ran out of the kitchen. Saanvi tried to run to the right toward the door but a demon came out of a room next to the kitchen. The demon that came out of the room blocked their way. Justice tugged on Saanvi’s arm, pulling her to the left through the hallway. There were no windows along the hallways. It was narrow with doors on their right and left but they didn’t go into any of them because the demons would see and follow them. Justice pulled Saanvi behind her as the demons chased behind them. Saanvi turned to see the demon from the room running on two feet. The other two demon that had followed the order of the taller demon were running on all fours behind the demon from the room. Saanvi couldn’t see the taller demon. Suddenly the demon that was running on two feet tried to pounce on Saanvi. She screamed. When it missed, it growled and ran on all fours like the other two demons behind it. That’s when Saanvi saw the taller demon. It was

Ryder “What about weapons?” Ryder asked as he took of his hoodies, leaving the shirt on. “What about them?” Luci asked as he changed into a black muscle shirt with full sleeves. The shirt was tight showing his muscles through the shirt. He pulled on black cargo jeans as well. Ryder looked at him and said, “Well, don’t we need weapons to protect ourselves from the demons. You should have some since you have stayed here for so long. Surely you had to fight some demons along the way, right?” Luci turned to Ryder and said, “Why would I fight my- I mean, of course I fought m- the demons. Let me go get some weapons. Give me a minute.” Luci walked past Ryder and suddenly froze. Ryder turned to look at him and asked, “Hey, Luci. You alright?” Luci didn’t respond so he poked him. Luci still didn’t respond. “Hey Luc-” Ryder was interrupted when Luci spoke in a demonic voice. He said something in a foriegn language. It sounded like the same language that he heard in h
