Footsteps

The assailant had been apprehended, yet the central figures of this dramatic scene remained in place. The gathered onlookers showed no inclination to disperse; instead, their excitement grew.

Mrs. Samantha, her heart filled with sympathy, tenderly ran her fingers through Juelz's hair.

His visage was horribly swollen, his attire a disheveled mess, riddled with ragged tears. He appeared pitiful, devoid of any semblance of a young master, resembling more a destitute soul found on the streets.

"I'll deal with you later," Mrs. Samantha uttered icily to Zak as she assisted Juelz to his feet.

"Mother, I'm a victim too," Zak, who had remained silent for an extended period, rasped, lowering his gaze while pursing his lips. "My brother sought someone to harm me, resulting in this case of mistaken identity."

Despite his words, he held no illusions of capturing Mrs. Samantha's attention.

As anticipated, Mrs. Samantha chose to disregard his statement, escorting Juelz to the hospital without a word.

While passing by the onlookers, Juelz was subjected to a barrage of hurtful comments.

"What kind of excellence and nobility is this? Such a malicious disposition, willing to harm his own sibling. Truly repulsive."

"Yes, always putting on airs. Look at how pitiable he appears now."

The voices were grating and harsh, causing Juelz to erupt in anger instantly. He locked eyes with those who had spoken, clenching his teeth, and demanded, "Repeat that if you dare?"

Several individuals quivered in fear and maintained their silence.

Juelz's emotional outburst exacerbated his injuries, causing him to lose consciousness.

Mrs. Samantha urgently called for an ambulance, and the sound of her distress swiftly spread throughout the entire school.

Zak observed the scene impassively, his countenance revealing no trace of emotion.

Zak leisurely stretched and retraced his steps to the classroom.

This time, he found himself obligated to extend gratitude to Juelz, the fool, for affording him such a fortuitous opportunity.

A faint smile played upon his lips.

"Why are you being so naive?" Mrs. Samantha remarked after hearing everything. She gently rested her hand on his head and continued, "Your actions have left significant vulnerabilities. You're practically serving yourself on a silver platter."

Juelz, his voice tinged with frustration, responded, "I never expected him to be so malicious, letting others wrongly believe it was him. I've been terribly embarrassed because of him today."

Mrs. Samantha remained silent for a moment, then sighed, "You'll have to bear with it for now. When your dad hears about this, he'll certainly reprimand you for bringing disgrace upon him."

"Mom," Juelz's eyes welled up with tears, "Are you just going to let Zak off the hook?"

Mrs. Samantha reassured him solemnly after a brief pause, "Don't worry, Mom will definitely seek justice in this matter for you."

Juelz's temper flared, and he couldn't contain his frustration. He didn't believe he was at fault and blurted out, "Zak is your son too, Mom. You're probably just telling me what I want to hear. In reality, you won't take any action against him."

Mrs. Samantha was taken aback by his words. Indeed, Zak was also her son. Why couldn't Juelz grasp that and instead tried to implicate Zak?

Mrs. Samantha rubbed her temples, avoiding an argument, and simply said, "Juelz, let's not discuss this further."

Recognizing that he had spoken out of turn, Juelz hugged Mrs. Samantha's arm and choked back his tears. He whispered, "Mom, I'm in so much pain. Just thinking about how embarrassed I am, I don't want to go to school anymore."

"Be patient," Mrs. Samantha soothingly stroked his head and whispered, "We will address this situation, but not now. Your dad is in the midst of negotiating a major project, and we can't afford any disturbances. Please endure it, my dear."

Juelz lightly touched his swollen face, a mix of pain and anger coursing through him.

Because of Zak, he had suffered humiliation like this, and one day, he vowed to repay Zak with a thousandfold humiliation.

...

Upon returning home, the mansion lay shrouded in darkness, with no signs of anyone around.

Zak illuminated the room with a flick of a light switch. Just as he was about to set his phone down and prepare for the evening, footsteps behind him caught his attention.
