Once upon a time, I was lonely. Just a basic kid with a basic life. Then I thought, 'what really is the point of life?' 'Cause it seemed like I had no reason to live. Being an introvert really is a pain in the ass, but you'll grow to love the pain.About a month ago, dad came up to me to have a talk…"Now that you're all grown up, I think you're ready to give an answer, right?" he asked me."Oh dear God, we're doing this again?" I asked reluctantly."C'mon son, it's about time we got this over with.""Alright, fine," I resented, sighing."Great!" he said, pleased with my decision. "Now tell me, what exactly is your purpose in life?""Hmm…." I thought. "As of recently?""Yeah, sure.""Uhhh…. Hmm…. Let's see…. If I were to have one reason for living right now, it would perhaps be… to defeat Shujin-sensei in battle and prove that I'm not just a punching bag."I meant that as deep as the depth of my soul."Huh... Well, if that's your purpose, you better start working towards it. Do your best for all of us, okay?"I knew he was trying to be supportive. I could see it from his face how confused he was at my reply."Okay!" I concluded.Honestly speaking, I didn't know why I said that. To begin with, I don't know why I say a lot of things. I was obsessed; constantly trying to figure out a way to beat him. But, little did I know that this obsession would open a door to a whole new world… a new beginning.••• ‡ •••Even before Shujin could react, Kai dashed up close to him after a single breath taken in by Kai. The result of the swift motion caused a brief rough wind.Kai's voice modulated to a frightening tone as he spoke to his master."You let your guard down, old man. Attacking you then would have been boring 'cause then it would be too much of an easy win," he sighed. "I want you to think of me as a real opponent and come at me with all you got this time around."Kai received a spark in his cells which caused him immense pain. He soon brushed it off as he got ready to tango with his master.'Something's off about him. He's snapped,' Shujin wondered. 'I let my guard down, but how could he have got up close to me this fast... could it—'Before he could get a chance to complete his thoughts, he was met with a perfectly executed roundhouse kick to which he barely dodged.Kai oozed a presence of fear and dominance to which Shujin tried to comprehend. He set off his final warning to Shujin."I believe I said to think of myself as a real opponent. Do you really think I'd allow you to have your prep time? Since you didn't understand what was aforesaid, allow me to rephrase…"He experienced yet another spark in his cells. However, this caused him to grin sinisterly."Keep all eyes on me, Shujin-sensei…" he chuckled darkly. "I'm not who you knew before," he informed, whispering softly into the ears of Shujin.Shujin forcibly pushed him away and simultaneously unleashed a nasty looking tornado kick. While smiling at the situation, Kai simply ducked underneath the attacking leg and performed a windmill spin that blew him twenty meters away from the fighting circle to the shock of everyone.Shujin soon gained footing and was forced to acknowledge the effort of his student."I guess I underestimated you a little too much, young one…." he smirked. "I will now fight you with respect.""Very well then," Kai scoffed.Shujin breathed and dashed towards Kai to attack him head on. To his surprise, however, he stood completely still, sending a vicious death stare to his opponent that emitted an aura that almost stopped him in his tracks.'What the hell?' he cursed in his thoughts, confused at what he beheld before him. 'This presence…'In an impromptu change of plans, Shujin jumped and dashed in the air so fast that it seemed like he teleported behind Kai.He went in for a flying kick, but his leg, as well as his whole body, was caught completely in place on air by his opponent with his right hand without needing to look back. The students roared in excitement as Kai was suddenly able to anticipate all the attacks of Shujin and display badass feats of strength. They all rallied Kai to take the win as if it were a real fight as opposed to the intended sparring session. He calmly turned back to face Shujin as he finally let go."I hope you're not going easy on me, Shujin-sensei."Shujin landed gracefully as he looked on to Kai, who had absolutely gone out of his mind."Hmph."Shujin returned back to his fighting stance. His opponent, this time around, went on the offensive, hitting him with a variety of combos to which he blocked all the attacks. The students watched in amazement as Kai matched the fighting pace of Shujin. The latter soon noticed that Kai was keeping up with his fighting movements and decided to increase mobility and attack power.Kai read the increase in output of strikes of his opponent in a split second and proceeded to dodge all attacks like they were nothing.Shujin scoffed and smirked as all his clever attack combos were being dodged effortlessly.<"Kai?" "He's moving!" "Yeah, but he's not awake yet." "I wonder what's going on within him." "A bad dream, perhaps?" His friends wondered as Kai shivered in his unconsciousness. Meanwhile, Kai opened his eyes to find himself in the void with no sign of the mysterious figure. "Still unconscious, I see." Kai realised, looking around to see himself in a void. "Show yourself, man. We need to talk." Suddenly, the void began to display flashing images of past events in quick succession, overwhelming Kai. "Wake up to reality." Images of a crumbling dimension were displayed, and Kai tried to understand what was being shown to him. "I know it's you, man. Come on out, will you?" He called the figure out. "Welcome back, Kai," the mysterious figure greeted. Kai turned to see the figure right behind him. The images soon faded away as if they were illusions. "You…" Kai grunted angrily. "Congratulations," he smiled. "You have tapped into the Power Within." "What did you do to me?" he

"The Core of Chaos? And who's that supposed to be?" Kai questioned Owari, oblivious to the unfamiliar name."He is a powerful Daemon who wreaked havoc among our kind and shook the balance between good and evil in the world we protect," he explained."He is a menace who only follows in the path of darkness. His ever growing power was too much for us Daemons to handle. Killing him wasn't an option either. So, we sealed him away," he continued."This is crazy talk," Kai interrupted. "How does this involve me? And why does he want me anyways? I'm not a Daemon or a Demigod and I certainly don't want some crazy old half assed blood thirsty Daemon all up in my neck so…""See, that's where you're wrong, Kai," Owari claimed. "I think your mind needs to come down to earth. The realm where Cosmos is being held captive is a place constructed by powerful Daemons where it is impossible for him to use his abilities to breakthrough 'cause he'd lose his mind doing so.""It's a space, time and spirit pr
"Really? That's tough," Kota consoled. He proceeded to look at his watch, realising that they were running out of time."Shoot umm… we'll talk about this later, alright, but for now, let's get to class. We've got three minutes," he informed."Right!"Kai and Kota both rushed at great speed and managed to catch up to Gaia, who was at the field strolling to class."Oh, hi there.""Look who's gonna be late to class."Both Kai and Kota mocked Gaia."Oh, no you don't," Gaia announced boldly.Gaia picked up the pace and proceeded to wave her arms in a circular motion causing the earth to begin to rumble. The earth beneath her soon became an improvised earth skater which she used to overtake the two and get to class on time.Kota and Kai reached the field on time and began to pant after completing the race."No fair. No techniques allowed," Kota said, calling the shots."And who made that rule?" Gaia cleverly clapped back."Touché," Kai concluded.Shujin suddenly appeared in front of them, ca
Kai stepped into the void where the mysterious man resided, and he was welcomed by the enigmatic figure."Well, well, well, I see you've changed your mind," the figure presumed, still in a meditative stance."I thought that since your guidance helped me tap into my Core, it's your guidance that can help me control it," Kai replied with a smart tone."Very well— I see you have the iron claws with you."'Wait, the weapon came here too?' Kai thought, surprised. "Yeah, so what?""Good. I assume you have a basic understanding of how to wield that little toy. Now, let's give both you and it a power boost," he responded as they both stood up. "Kai, tapping into the energy requires you to unlock the gates that confine it.""What do you mean?""Simple," the figure began to explain. "The Core lies deep within you. To access its energy, you must open the gates. There are four gates in total, each providing a certain amount of energy.""Mastering energy manipulation requires unlocking all four gat
••• ∅ •••Should have seen it coming. I lost control… again.••• ∅ •••Faster than anyone could see, almost as if he warped through space, Kai dashed and delivered a double slash through the abdomen of Chiko. Kai gained footing and stared towards Chiko as blood gushed through his body. Chiko coughed up blood as he was heavily injured by the sudden speed blitz. This attracted the attention of other Daemons from other classes. They joined the class as they roared in chorus excitement."What did I just see?" the amazed commentator reacted. "More like what did I not see? With one clean attack, Kai absolutely takes over this match. Is it over?"The crowd was in shock. Chiko suddenly began to cackle and the crowd thought that he had gone insane. Chiko held his abdomen and coughed some more blood while laughing. Suddenly, he healed completely from the attack."What? Did he just heal?" the commentator exclaimed. "Shujin-sensei, are you seeing what I'm seeing?""Hmm…" Shujin observed as he was
"Urgh… Where am I?”Kai groaned as he slowly regained consciousness, his surroundings gradually coming into focus. He found himself in a room, and sitting on a stool by his bedside was Chiko.“Finally awake, huh?” Chiko greeted him with a smile. "Took you long enough."Kai blinked, trying to shake off his grogginess. "Chiko! You’re here? Where am I?""Your room, genius," Chiko replied with a hint of sarcasm.Looking around, Kai recognized the familiar setting. Kota entered the room with a meal and a glass of water."Look who's finally back from dreamland?" Kota said, a playful smile on his face."How long was I out?" Kai asked, chuckling."Just a few hours," Chiko replied."It's the next day, by the way," Kota confirmed."Well, at least it's an improvement from last time," Kai murmured."It's not the first time?" Chiko questioned, his ability to control sound allowing him to pick up on Kai's mumbled words effortlessly."Uhh… Yeah, it's not," Kai replied. "It's actually the second
