I'm back! I'm sorry for the long hiatus. I will be posting 6 more chapters today as a compensation for the weeks of inactivity. I hope you all will continue to join me in this journey to the completion of The Divine Core. Your support is highly appreciated!
In the vast emptiness of the scenery, there was a flicker of energy. It gathered, swirling like a whirlpool, drawing in light and matter from all around.Slowly, it condensed, forming a sphere of shimmering energy. Within this sphere, the fabric of reality twisted and folded, creating a pocket dimension unlike any other. As the energy coalesced, Kai and Kenji emerged from the swirling chaos. The latter's eyes glowed like molten gold, and the former surveyed the new domain with awe.Kenji christened the technique, "The Kairos's Aetheria."The Kairos's Aetheria: a pocket dimension the Space Core invented that defies the natural constraints of the natural order of space and time.Every day that passed training within this dimension equated itself to two years of real time experience. This way, the Daemons could cheat nature and subject Kai to an endless saga of back to back confrontations with its climax being levelling up at every successful battle session. The system was best fit for t
« Within Kairos's Aetheria »Kairos granted the desires of the Chosen Daemon. In mystical fashion, the scenery took a shift in point of view. Kenji and Kairos were out of sight. The system transported Kai to an alternate universe. In the blink of an eye, the void around Kai began to shift and twist, like a canvas being painted with reality. Tokyo, Japan emerged from the emptiness, but it wasn't quite the Tokyo Kai knew. The sky above was a canvas of deep purples and blues, streaked with wisps of silver clouds that seemed to shimmer like ethereal silk.Buildings rose like monoliths, blending ancient architecture with sleek, futuristic designs. Neon signs flickered to life, casting an eye-catching glow upon the bustling streets below.Despite the vibrant energy pulsating through the city, there was an unmistakable air of solemnity. The streets were filled with people adorned in traditional garments, their faces painted in patterns of white and black. It was the Day of the Dead, a time w
Kai seemed to have fixated his emotions to be stagnant in revenge, which fueled his core energy to menacing heights. He summoned more azure dragons to save the humans from the country-sized earthquake. Kai landed smoothly to the earth, and was immediately faced by the mutant dead.Shocking the Chosen Daemon, the beings struck swift energy blasts which he dodged fairly easily. The beings held him tight and oozed acid goo on him, melting his body in painful order. Kai shrieked in pain, generating a massage shockwave that blew up the surrounding mutants to bones.Kai took to the skies, riding on an azure dragon as he launched a flame cyclone unto the freakish opposition. Kai concentrated, focusing his spirit to his core energy to heal himself from the damage.Unfortunately, the mutants did not wish for him to recover. In sickening unison, they converged energies, sending a behemoth acid wave towards Kai to turn him into a molten liquid. The latter's eyes flashed as he saw death knocking
‘What’s wrong with you, Kai Nagano! Do something! Move! Move! Move!’ Kai’s conscience rallied his body.Yumiko launched the destructive blast point blanc, seemingly eviscerating the Chosen Daemon and fulfilling his innate desires of sweet vengeance. She sustained the blast for a little while longer to make a statement, and released the hold in assurance of his death. She smirked in her supposed victory, using the moment to gaze at the aftermath of her victory.“I’ve got to admit, Kurogawa.” Kai’s voice rang out. “You once again prove time and time again why my entire being despises you.”Yumiko turned back, adopting a stance to assure she was not caught off guard.“I guess I understand how this system’s going to play out, and I can’t wait to run through every single opposition that I’ve ever faced, that I continuously dread within my very beck and core, until my soul derives the joy it so desperately desires.”Yumiko turned to the direction of his voice and launched a massive beam of
The sudden interruption on the television screens and radios caused a stir across Japan. People paused their activities, their attention captured by the unexpected announcement."Hey, what's going on?" a commuter asked his fellow passenger on the train."I don't know, they interrupted the news for something big," the other replied, leaning closer to the screen. On the crowded streets of Tokyo, pedestrians stopped in their tracks, craning their necks to catch a glimpse of the image of the Chosen Daemon."Did you hear that? They're talking about some kid named Kai Nagano," one person remarked to their companion, brows furrowed in confusion."Yeah, I heard. He seemed to have come back from the dead or something," the other replied, eyes widening in surprise. In office buildings, workers gathered around televisions and smartphones, trying to make sense of the unexpected announcement."Wait, are you hearing what I’m hearing? A way for the dead to rise again?" a cubicle neighbor whispered t
~ In an Unknown Location ~Chikara was welcomed into the humble abode of the harbingers of evil.“Well done, Chikara!” Kōzō praised his underling for his outstanding performance.“Yeah, you really are putting yourself out there. Quite the courage you’ve put up daring to step foot again into the borders of Shinjutsu High.” Akuma glazed his comrade. “Especially after being recently discovered as her second impostor.”“Well, what can I say?” Chikara cut in, joking about. “Someone's gotta do the dirty work around here. Kōzō-sama’s quite demanding, you know?”“But, I don't understand any of this, Kōzō.” Ihann pointed out. “It all just sounds too random: getting the whole of Japan involved in our matters, letting the world potentially know of Daemons once again, creating unnecessary trails of ever-growing violence and disputes. What's really your plan, Kōzō?”The Mastermind chuckled darkly, growing a faint sense of ecstasy. “Now, Ihann, where did this growing intelligence come from? And her
••• ∅ •••Shujin-sensei will always be an icon to me. Every day with him is a breath of fresh air, be it an illusion, a system or reality. You’ve given me a new reserve of strength, and trust me when I say that I delivered.Stage after stage, brawl after brawl, Daemon after Daemon, I fought, each fight proving tougher than the last. It seemed the system had only registered feats shown within the memories of the Space Core himself and the Player partaking in the system’s string of training curricula.I barely defeated Ihann, the final challenger of the gauntlet. I guess I have him to thank for holding back so much during the invasion. If not for his persona for playing with his food, I guess this would have been a level that I would not have been able to pass.I still wonder what exactly would happen if I genuinely died in this system. Would it be for real? Or would I just start the training stages all over again? Oh well, I’d rather not find out.I’m just glad the gauntlet came to an e
••• ∅ •••What's there to say? Now I know why he is hailed the Strongest Aeon of the modern era. He really is living up to the legacy his ancestors had built. In what felt like just five minutes in the final battle, I had been driven close to death for a total of two hundred and fifty nine times. As the time went by, I lost count of how many times death nearly embraced me into a chokehold. He was just that strong.Well, on the bright side, I had shattered the bridge that separated me from unlocking regeneration's full potential. The technique was now made automatic in my body's system, aiding my already durable physique further. On top of that, I had seemed to gain somewhat of a mastery over core energy's concepts. My attack schemes were far more precise. My instincts were sharpened and my overall prowess could probably rival multiple Aeons at a time. I already felt like a billion bucks despite the fact that the mission isn't quite yet completed. But, even at that. Upon my ever growin
