Chapter 53

As Salvador drove towards Leah's house with Austin in the passenger seat, he couldn't shake off the feeling of worry. He knew he had to take Austin back to his mom, but he felt uneasy about it. Taking a deep breath, he tried to focus on the road ahead, but his mind kept drifting back to Austin's troubled expression.

"Hey, Austin, is something on your mind?" Salvador asked gently, breaking the silence that filled the car.

Austin hesitated for a moment before responding, his voice barely audible. "Dad, why didn't you tell me who you really are?"

Salvador's heart sank at his son's question. He knew he had to explain, even though it wasn't easy. "I'm sorry, Austin," he began, his voice filled with regret. "I wanted to keep you safe, but I should've been honest with you."
