The Arrival

The Azure islet was located above the 'Bloody Forest.' The bloody forest protects the islet from any ground attack and since the Pegasus were an excellent clan of warriors, they were pretty much invisible on the islet. Unless, of course, if they are attacked by any horde of flying monsters like Dragons or unicorns or some other beasts. They were very graceful and peaceful creatures. Since, the Braharis are also a great threat for not only the lower realms but also for them too, they agreed for the High Council to be held on the Castle of MoonDust. The meeting was held 2 times a year as per the agreement.

Daemon was looking through the window from the given guest suite. He was in complete awe when he first walked through the portal. After they were welcomed by the Pegasus, they also inquired about him since he wasn't one of the regulars. King conrad explained the situation and handled it pretty quickly. The portal was in a small open space were all the sides except for the one long path which is connected to the side of the Castle, are pretty much large falls. He imagined falling to the Bloody Forest if missed a step. He even thought Marakin might take his revenge by shoving him off the plane if nobody was around. He made a mental note to not visit this place, alone. After the initial shock of awe, he took in the view. It was surreal. Truly, astonishingly spectacular view.

He tried to look down on the sides to see if he could see the Bloody Forest, but was not disappointed after seeing white clouds blocking the view. He sorts of anticipated it. Then he took a good look at the large beautiful castle in front of him. It was of black in colour, though for other castles, black may not be a best option, for this it was the perfect. He wasn't completely able to take in the beauty as they were on the side of the castle.

After the initial greetings, the Pegasus led them to their guest suites. While walking the path, the king enquired whether any of the other alliance representatives had arrived. For which the lady Pegasus answered them that the elves and the dwarves had already arrived.

The islet was huge but not as much compared to an actual island or a kingdom. Though he was completely mesmerised by the overall beauty of the entirety of the whole 'thing,' he wasn't completely able to enjoy it since they were basically told to rest and not wander inside the palace or outside unsupervised. For which Reiner looked at Daemon with dubious eyes which basically was telling him "You know she is warning you." To which Daemon acknowledged with a polite nod.

His disappointment didn't last long as the view from his room completely blew away all his previous surprises as what he saw can only be described as marvellous. Through the window across the line of sight lies a water fall so beautiful, one would be enchanted by it completely. That too from this far away. Daemon had to use mana in his eyes to look that far to watch this water fall. But it was totally worth it.

Daemon knew about this water fall. It was one of the places Reiner explained excitedly about. The water fall is called 'God's Reach,' by the natives of the Azure islet. As the name suggests, no matter how much one travels in that direction, they wont reach there. Why? Because it was just a mirage. An illusion caused by the potency of the mana in the islet. The mana on the atmosphere was very pure. He felt his body was revitalizing. There are stories of a young pegasus who chased after the water falls. He was called Tharul. There are many stories claiming he was a Pegasus lord. During his youth he got so absorbed into the God's Reach, it influenced his adulthood too. After being lord for more than three decades, he passed the crown to his son and pursued his long-time goal. He left his wife and children, abandoned his kingdom and chased after the God's Reach. The tale of a Pegasus lord who chased after the God's Reach. This tale was passed down to generation after generation. Nobody knows it is true or false. The only one who can confirm the truth about the tale are the Pegasus themselves. But nobody dared to ask about him, since they didn't want to offend the race by bringing up about someone who rejected their family and abandoned their kingdom in pursuit of something that didn't exist.

Legends say he is still chasing after the water fall.

*****

Though he had rested the day before Daemon still felt tired.

Might be the portal. He thought.

Since he hasn't used any portal for more than 6 years, he was feeling nausea because of the spatial distortion when passing through the portals. It was a very common occurrence. Even if someone is powerful enough to crush the mountains, they are also likely to have nausea. It was a body thing. But it can be prevented by regularly travels through the portals.

Since it was noon, he thought about taking a nap. But before he started that he suddenly remembered something. It was the magic books from the royal archive. Since the mana in the atmosphere is potent, he thought about utilising it for good use.

He sat cross legged on his bed and closed his eyes. He was recalling all of the magic books. He sorted the books by their use. Most them were useless for him. At least for now. So, he sorted the books that are useful for him for his current level of understanding. Not to mention the languages were a bit difficult for him as they are from many centuries ago.

After all of the sorting he was left with only one book from his memory. majority of the books were sorted out because of the difficulty in language, some were sorted out because of the difficulty in the magic theory in itself while some were sorted out because the theory in the book had already reinvented, which is far simpler from the complicated theories from these books. There were also books about offensive spells which he obviously can't train in this castle and he hadn't had any use for them too.

The book he selected was called 'Advanced mana control' by Fareel Rastheen. He knows about the author. He was a famous scholar who specialised in mana control. This book was used in the first year of the Advanced Education in the academies. Since he had good mana control and the potent mana, he thought this was the perfect book.

By the time he had selected the book, 1 hour had passed. So not to further waste anymore time, he opened the book in his mind. In his mind the book opened like any regular book. Even the cover art was perfectly memorised by him. The small minute details, the dedications, even the citations were in order and in perfect letters. The book started like any other book on mana control with covering basics for the first couple of chapters. This was because the book wasn't published alone for the academy, if this was book solely written for the academy then it won't have any basics coverage, it will quickly jump to the main subject.

After the several pages of basics, which Daemon remembers since he had learned it in his primary education from the academy, the book started to dive into the mana control theories. They were hard but since it was entirely on mana control, he was able to catch on and for the practical theory he had already witnessed countless mages and knights training in mana control in his duchy.

One particular theory that caught his attention was 'Mana Breathing'. He had heard about this theory. It was one of the hardest and one of the most powerful skills that exist if one can master it. Though this theory was taught in the academy, the students won't be able to master this skill even after their graduation as it is that advanced. This was taught to build a base so, by the time they actually become mages or warriors they will have something to train on.

What this skill essentially do is, as its name suggests, Mana breathing. Not with nose or mouth but from the skins. This was done by controlling the mana to enter through the pores of the skin which then travels to the mana core. What this do is enable the caster with fast replenish of the expended mana, which is essentially crucial for battles. If someone can master it, then they can absorb mana passively from their skin during a fight. Which is a massive game changer.

The down side of this skill is that, if someone doesn't fully grasp the concept of mana breathing then they can intoxicate themselves. While the mana is absorbed through the pores, if they don't guide it to the mana core and the excessive mana travels through the body then they are poisoned as the mana can take effect on the insides very badly. In extreme conditions, if the mana travels through the blood vessels, then all of the blood in the body will get poisoned, which will eventually lead to death. Even if someone is resistant to poisons, as the blood vessel travels through the heart, they can be dead by heart attack or blocks. So, this is also an extremely dangerous skill. That is why they are not mandatory to learn.

Daemon also knows about this too. But he also knows that one of the reasons for the slow progress of the skill when learning was because of the quality of the mana. Up here, several kilometres above the ground that was not a problem at all. Since the quality of the mana was especially potent here, he knew he might able to achieve something no one has done, at least in the human realm. With his eyes closed he fired up his mana core.
