Alastair crunched and watched as the mages swum towards the ship, hands on the deck as he listened to the vibrations within the large vessel.
None of them had infiltrated the ship yet, and that was a good thing. He could see the panic on the Captain's face and he could only wonder what was going on in the man's mind. But yet, he could not help but wonder how the mages found them so quickly. Was that Blaize's doing? It couldn't be. He had always cleaned his tracks after using magic and there was no way Blaize or any other mage could track him, atleast, not yet. Then those Mages were not from Blaize, they were under someone else's authority. One of the mages grabbed the ship and began to climb. Alastair sent a wave of energy to surround the ship, knocking the mage badk into the river with a cry.Others began to climb as well but the same wave was sent to clear them off. They fell into the river, screaming when the wave hit them. The wave was not kind, and Alastair did it that way for a reason."Look, whoever you are, I do not want trouble. This ship is under my protection and nothing must stop this delivery or the king have my head."The captain began, he did not know how to tell Alastair that he contemplated having the mages on board to grab him. It was pretty obvious to everyone that they were the reason why the mages were attacking.Alastair took off his shirt and walked towards the edge of the ship. He could see the mages performing spells underneath the water."Don't worry, captain. This will be over soon."Alastair said and jumped into the river.Cara rushed to the side to observe what was happening in there, but she could not really see anything. The river was pitch black and she squinted her eyes to get a better vision. But then, a light shone underneath the river for a brief second and Cara knew something was going down.Alastair had leveled up. He had become stronger.

Deep in the river, Alastair was holding a mage by the neck.
The mage struggled to free himself off Alastair's grasp but it was not successful. Then, Alastair created large, ice chains that suddenly grabbed the mage and threw the mage far into the deep end of the water. But he also created an energy globe around the Mages head to prevent him from drowning."If you use your magic, the globe breaks and you die."Alastair's mind said to the Mage who nodded quickly, terribly afraid of how superior Alastair was to him.Suddenly, Alastair felt a spear being thrown at him.He quickly glided, grabbed the spear and began to freeze it. The mage who had thrown the spear began to swim towards him in a very high speed and when he was close enough, Alastair threw the spear back at him.The mage was quick enough to dodge it but it was never Alastair's intention to stab him.The spear shattered into several pieces and each of them grew into large chains that also wrapped themselves around mage, holding him still. The mage struggled to get free, but nothing could be done.Suddenly, Alastair felt a sharp pain at his back. His body reflex kicked in as he swarm away in that second turning around to see another hurling towards him. There was blood mixed with water in the area where the mage had cut him and as the mage came at him again, Alastair caught the spear but instead of freezing it, Alastair made it very hot.And he used his powers to fix the mage's hand to the burning spear. The mage nearly drowned as his hand sizzled, the great pain radiating from his body as he struggled to let go but could not. Then Alastair wrapped him up also and locked all three inside a large globe. Then, pulling most of the energy he could gather at that moment, he pushed the globe far away from him, back towards the shore. Then, he resurfaced from the water and used his powers to levitate to deck. The captain and his crew gazed at him in wonder, but that was the least of his worries for he wanted to know how the mages had found them.It almost seemed like they were waiting for them to come aboard. There was only one explanation; someone must have overheard them back at the palace while they spoke about going to Rheina. And if that was the case, then it meant that someone had planted a mage to spy on Miranda as well.Alastair groaned. He really wished he could be there, helping her at the moment but things were not working that way."Do you know who they were?" Cara asked him as he pulled his shirt on. He saw the captain dash inside and the rest of the crew looking at him."I have a guess. But I believe we are safe, for now. It will take time before they regroup and we should already be in Rheina by then."The Captain emerged and walked towards them. He cleared his throat and raised his head up."As per the Princess' command, I have prepared bed spaces for you both. You can go inside and rest now.""Go. Follow him. I will keep an eye out should the mages decide to return again."Alastair said to Cara who slowly nodded and followed the captain in.Alastair closed his eyes and opened his ears. He let them spread far and wide, sensing the ripples that pulled on the river, the tails of the fishes as they swam towards their foods, then to the river bank where the mages he had sent out of the river were gasping and regaining their strength. One of them suddenly carried a curious look, like he was hearing something, and then, the Mage looked at him and Alastair's eyes opened. He had been right. The mages were from the palace. He needed to warm Miranda but he was in no position to do so at that state. Invading someone's dream took a lot of energy if the mage had no natural affinity for Dreamscaping. He did not have that affinity, he did not have any natural affinity to be precise. He just learned every and any form of magic. The rest of the night proceeded that way but when morning came, they were already at Rheina's port. He'd dosed off for a moment and woke up when the captain yelled at his crew to "hurry the fuck up". Cara st
The man walked closer to Alastair, and as he approached, he could sense something eerie about him. Alastair took a step forward toward the man, an attempt to match his energy. Then he raised his head and looked him in the eye. He smiled as Alastair did. What was he hiding? What secret lay beneath that deceptive smile of his? And why the hell was he even smiling at them in the first place? He was not a mage, that much Alastair could tell, and he was not a sorcerer either. So what was he exactly?"Good morning folks. Seems like you two are lost. Is there anything you need my help with?" The man asked Alastair and smiled again."We are fine, thanks." He slowly replied. The man arched his brow and did not seem to believe him. But that was his problem. He then looked at the bartender who seemed to jerk back in fear. Whoever he was, he definitely scared the shit out of her."Were they talking to you, love?" He asked her but she shook her head negatively. The air was getting tense alr
The moment they stepped out of the alley, Alastair turned around and shot a telekinetic blast at the men which suspended them in the air before they crashed to the ground. The move surprised Cara for she jumped to the side. Apparently, she had not noticed the men following them. How could she? She was just a little girl without any training. The men tried to stand but their bodies were too weak to comply. Alastair moved towards them but at that moment, he felt a knife flying his way. He quickly stopped and dodged the knife and ducked as another knife hurled at him. Then two men stepped out of a corner, holding swords with which they attacked him. He punched the ground and a wave of energy swept them all off their feet. They all fell, groaning in pain as their bones dislocated. But then, the knives came again. The one who was throwing the knives was a short man with incredible acrobatic skills. He threw the knives with much precision and accuracy that one of them managed to hit
"Alastair!"His eyes suddenly opened when he heard someone call his name. The voice sounded like thunder and it roared through his entire body. As the smell of rancidity hit him, he realized that he might have known who it was that called him. There he was, standing on a rock, beneath which lava flowed like a stream. The lava was extensive and it almost surrounded the rock on which he stood. The rancid smell continued to hit his nose but he did not know where it was coming from. Something was definitely off."Alastair!"He heard the voice again. It sounded like Jaghryx, but at the same time, it sounded like Asmodeus. He took a look around. It was obvious that he was in some vision like the one Asmodeus had pulled him in before. He just needed to find him and find a way to wake up. He knew he was having it hot in the real world and the last thing he needed was Asmodeus' troubles."Come to me...."Came a faint whisper. The whisper came again and he saw the lava on the ground drying up.
"Woah! Someone had a nightmare."The captain teased as Alastair breathed heavily like the air would get sucked away from him if he even relents. He moved his arms slowly, the magical chair still grasping him in place. The captain walked closer to him and crunched, gazing into his eyes before she placed her hand on his shoulder and gave it a light squeeze."What did you see, Alastair? What visions did those pretty eyes of yours experience?" She asked, still squeezing his shoulder. He shrugged, causing her to remove her hands from his shoulder."If you are really desperate for a vision, why don't you unbind me from this chair? I will give you all the visions you could ever possibly think of." Alastair said to her. She thought for a second, walked towards Alastair, and slowly roamed her hand through the straps that were holding him in place. Was she truly going to do it? Alastair wondered. She kept on touching the straps, but then, she burst out into laughter."And did you think I woul
Alastair spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how he was going to break the wraith's magic. He was running out of time and he knew it. If he had not been alarmed before then, it wasn't so for his entire body was screaming with alertness. To make matters worse, he could not tell what the time was. The cell they placed him in barely had a source of light. The strong, brick walls that held up the cell called out to him, telling him that he was not going to find a way out of the mess he was in. He suspected he was done. But could he truly be? He had dinner in the past, he was well aware of that fact. Although he deserved to die for what he did to that girl, he had to live for Cara. His being alive would benefit him and the world around him better than his death. So, he closed his eyes again, took a deep breath, and focused his mind on the energy pulsating from the chain. He noticed something."Four-three-four-two-four-one-four-three..."The energy had a rhythm that gave differen
Alastair conjured a shield around himself and proceeded to walk into the burning harem. One of the supports for the front door pulled off and hit his shield, bouncing off as It did. He walked inside, the flames and smoke almost blinding him. The heat and the smoke could Still penetrate through the shield. But he did not stop. He kept walking, looking from one room to the other."Cara!" He called out as he passed from one room to the other, the ceiling falling on his shield as he did. The fire was getting even hotter but he persisted. He kept on going, reinforcing his shield as he did."Cara!"He called out again but there was no reply. There were a lot of dead Bodies on the ground and as he kept on walking, he realized that he no longer felt the sudden tension he used to feel whenever he saw fire and bodies. Was he slowly getting free from the guilt the past held on him? Was his desire to protect Cara stronger than the losses and pain he had suffered? He realized it was. He needed to
Damek took a deep breath as he inhaled the smoke from the sage he was burning. His eyes rolled to the top of his eyes, the energy from the smoke filling him with its essence. One of the sorcerers standing there walked towards him, his bare feet slapping the ground as he picked up another large sage and lit it on fire. The sage burned, bringing out smoke that Damek quickly inhaled."Master, shall we bring in the blood?"The same sorcerer asked him. Damek could barely remember his name, not in that state anyway. He raised his hand and gestured for them to bring it inside the dark cave they were in. The only source of light in the cave were tiny candles which lit up the other part of the cave where bones, sages, and charms were located. But for where Damek knelt, there was only darkness.Damek coughed, and a soft growl escaped his lips. He turned around as the sorcerers brought in the blood inside a bowl and placed it before him. He crawled towards the bowl and in the next moment, dug hi
