Chapter Three: The Agreement

"How would we be able to help you lift your curse?" Jheall curiously asked.

"No, there's nothing you can do to save me. Soon, I'll be... I'll be..."

Each of her tear carried the weight of anxiety gliding down cheeks like a melancholic ballet leaving behind trails of glistening sorrow. The rhythm of sobs became a symphony accompanied by quivering lips and aching chests. The sound of a heavy sigh escaped carrying a melancholy melody with it as if the worry itself found solace in the vibrations of the air.

"There must be a way to lift this curse, right?" Jheal asked.

The night was adorned with an eerie stillness as the moon cast a pale luminescence over the desolate platform. The old gothic sculpture weathered by time and forgotten by the world stood in solemn silence at the heart of the platform. Its grotesque features worn and cracked emanated an air of mystery and ancient secrets.

Suddenly as if summoned by an unseen force a shadowy figure materialized from behind the hulking sculpture. It emerged with an otherworldly grace its form distorted yet tantalizingly humanoid. The entity seemed to meld seamlessly with the darkness its inky silhouette appearing both ethereal and sinister.

The shadow entity possessed an ominous aura its presence sending shivers down the spines of any who bore witness. Its absence of light seemed to consume the area around it as though it were a void swallowing the very essence of the moonlight.

As the entity stood there its dark essence seemed to pulsate revealing fleeting glimpses of gnarled tendrils that writhed ceaselessly within its core. A cold chilling wind whispered through the platform carrying with it an ancient foreboding hush.

The air crackled with an energy that was simultaneously unsettling and captivating. Every so often the shadow entity would twitch as if caught in the midst of an otherworldly dance. Its movements were serpentine and fluid almost hypnotic in nature.

Those who dared to gaze upon the shadow entity felt a peculiar sensation as if it was peering directly into their souls. It seemed to possess a malevolence a primordial force that had transcended time itself. Its presence was a reminder of forgotten terrors and suppressed nightmares.

As the shadow entity lingered in the moonlit platform a sense of unease settled upon the ancient sculpture as if even stone could shudder in its presence. Its existence seemed like a whisper from a world beyond a spectral image captured in a realm not meant for mortal eyes.

And just as suddenly as it had appeared the shadow entity retreated into the veil of darkness leaving naught but a lingering sense of foreboding and an ethereal memory etched into the minds of those who bore witness to its enigmatic presence.

The shadow then began to cite an ominous speech.

"As the shadow entity I stand before Ace, the cursed one. You seek the terms and conditions to lift your friend's curse and I am here to elucidate them to you. Now, listen closely for the fate of your cursed existence lies within these words.

To break the chains that bind you you must venture into the depths of the dungeon where a vault lies concealed. But this is no ordinary vault no mere structure awaiting discovery. It is a labyrinth of secrets and challenges guarding the missing pieces of a powerful artifact.

In order to unlock this vault you must assemble a group of eight individuals who are willing to accompany you on this treacherous journey. Together you will step onto the inscribed platform which will transport you directly to the island.

Within the depths of this dark domain the realm of shadows and secrets you and your companions will face numerous trials and dangers. The missing pieces of the artifact lie scattered hidden amongst the labyrinthine corridors and treacherous chambers.

Hunt down these missing fragments my chosen ones. Seek them relentlessly for they hold the key to your liberation. Retrieve them with care for each piece brings you closer to breaking the chains of your curse.

Once you have successfully gathered all the pieces of the artifact you shall bring them together in unity. This act of completion will unleash its dormant power granting you three wishes of your deepest desires.

But that is not all. Like I said in the previous time, to reward your bravery and perseverance your powers acquired through these curses will become permanent. The shadows that have plagued your existence that have tormented your soul will become a part of you harnessing and amplifying your strengths.

However let it be known that there are consequences. With great power comes great responsibility. Wield your newfound abilities with caution for they can be both a blessing and a curse in themselves.

In this agreement there is only one certain condition that must be met. Within a month of timeframe – terms that cannot be ignored or underestimated and yet only 15 days remain. Now the choice lies in your hands, Ace. Will you accept these terms and conditions bound by the weight and risks they entail? Or will you forever remain cursed forever haunted by the shadows of your misfortune?

Beware, as should these conditions go unfulfilled the consequences will be severe and they will fall upon the shoulders of those who dared to disregard the agreement. The path is yours to tread but remember the clock is ticking and time is not on your side."

The shadow entity suddenly vanished into thin air as if it had never been there in the first place. One moment it was looming ominously in the darkness casting a sinister presence over the room and the next moment it was gone without a trace. There was no sound no movement nothing to indicate its departure.

The disappearance was so swift and seamless it left us three in utter disbelief and confusion. We searched the room hoping to find some clue or evidence of its presence but there was nothing. It was as if the shadow entity had evaporated into the atmosphere leaving behind only a lingering sense of unease.

Its sudden disappearance recounted a strange sensation as if time had momentarily stood still. we recalled a fleeting darkness, a peculiar shift in the air and then the entity was simply gone. It was almost as if it had dissolved into the ether defying all laws of physics and logic.

And so our hearts then filled with hope and curiosity. We will venture into the world ready to embrace whatever dangers and magic may come our way. A renewed determination ignited within us. We knew that we couldn't ask for a better opportunity to rectify the situation. Together we would find a way to break the curse that shackled Ace to the relic.

=====

As the new day dawned I, Jheall and Ace convened at our usual meeting spot near the school campus. We wore determined expressions ready to embark on our mission to find five more people to accompany them in their search for the missing pieces of the artifact in the dungeons.

"I can't believe you're dragging me into this!" Jheall muttered rolling her eyes. "But, fine if you guys are going on some treasure, hunt I'll join you. Just make sure my mom doesn't find out or else-"

"C'mon Jheall, This is not some happy treasure hunting. This is rescue mission to save Ace's life! And a chance for us to uncover the truth about this artifact and the mysteries locked within the school's behind premises."

I couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement deep within me. Adventure had always called out to me and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to answer its call. But there was one major problem - we needed five more people to join us. The artifact could only be fully reassembled and activated with a group of eight.

I scratched the back of my head pondering our predicament. "We need to find five more people who are willing to undertake this journey with us. But who on earth would be crazy enough to believe us and face the dangers of those dungeons?"
